I played FFX a lot with my cousin, mostly for the cut-scenes in his case. I really hated the characters. They were too annoying to me. FFXII is probably the only FF game that seems...a truly refined adventure in a grandiose way instead of overly anime-esque.
I just got back from watching this movie on fillmsi.co.cc, and it is indeed a beautifully made and artistic story. Very creative and unique... definitelly worth watching

Magnificent movie!! It is great project from all the production who worked on it. I think things changed in it..it has not predictable plot, totaly not convincing acting and stupid jokes...it has something totaly different. I don't know why some fans dislike this game I had so much fun playing it which I think I will do again as I still got the game. Maybe people didn't get the storyline as for the gameplay what's so bad about it? I am not a hardcore FF fan I've only played the first and this one and even if I haven't played other FF games I can tell you this is among the best ones
I really hope they make more Final Fantasy like 12. The politics is just great for those who enjoys it. Unfortunately, the majority of the gamers can't understand the concept of politics and rather have unrealisitc character development with a cheesly love story or psychopath/obvious god as final boss. The gameplay though is where FF12 failed most. They could've done more to make it more fun but instead they just made it a tank and spank

So I bought FF x-2 right? All happy to finally be able to play it, I'm walking outa of the mall and open it to check the disc and what not... and I find this in it. Go back to the store, ask for the right game...' we're sorry, we don't have that game, only the case. Yes, we put the wrong game in that case, we won't give you the right case, but you can keep the game...' Well I go home and start playing it and I must say, it's pretty darn good. I'm still towards the beginning, but I like it so far

It was brilliant. The storyline was different compared to it's predecessors. Lousiest looking characters, but badazz battle system. Remembering how it gave me a headache back then, I would love to play it all over again. Headache = love

Balthier should have been the main character in this game, he is one of the best ever in FF series. He matches the rank of Cloud, Yuna, Sephiroth, Cid etc... Vann doesn't even come close.

@IRONMIKEHHH yes this game is wicked good! in my own opionion, im not quite as fond of the storyline in FFXII as in FFX, but the battle system cool because the monsters all run around and you can see them on your map. the three people that are your party fight them. i liked the characters in FFX, but the characters in this game are all VERY different, and with dynamic personalities, it's easy to like these characters more. i recommend trying it :)

I didn't like FF12. The game play was pretty good, and i liked the whole idea of side quests. But i didn't care for the lvling system in this one, and i thought the story was kind of under zealous and the animation style this time around was disappointing. Also the "overdrive" mechanic that is in other FF games is really bad. I remember how bad my hands were blistered stacking the quickenings to like 60 or 90 (been a while since i've played). Summons were cool though.

@PatsieVideosDoom I'm sorry but XIII's story was anything but deep. It had the potential to be something far greater as the lore is very intriguing. But it wasted the opportunity with sappy melodrama, an uninteresting love story and fairly tiresome character interactions. Both games have character development. It's just that XII also presents a far more mature and intelligent plot to go along with it.
@PatsieVideosDoom I disagree. FFXII had a lot of subtle intricacies to the plot that were really quite interesting in my opinion. However, I think a lot of them were missed by people - so I agree that they should have been expanded upon more. FFX was the reverse, it had very thoroughly developed characters but sometimes it seemed like it was insulting your intelligence. Nevertheless I think that both FFX and FFXII were fantastic games - just very different. FFIX is my all-time favourite though.

FFXII: Mature, clever storyline with fascinating political intrigue but thinly spread cutscenes leave some less interesting dungeon crawling. Fun, open world battles.
FFX: Immersive characters and story, but slightly cheesily written and voiced. Less freedom than FFXII but better than FFXIII. Good gameplay.
FFIX: Great story and characters, good amounts of freedom and strong gameplay (although it can be a bit slow). My favourite game.

do you keep the same characters throughout? or do you have to go through the frustration of leveling up a character, and then have them replaced by another one, or have them leave due to the story? i think i remember having a character at the beginning of the game, then she leaves the party and comes back later completely different... can you choose who you use?
@kpotassium Sometimes you have characters come on as guests to fight with you but they usually don't stay long and you can't control anything about them. Once you get your full party of six people, they never leave, or as far as I can tell, but I'm not that far through that game. And only three of the six characters are in your party at once.
i expected vaan to be more special. I didnt like the story at all but gameplay and graphics were superb. ff8 stays the best for me, the story was way too magnificent.
This FF is the most boring one .My final review for this game after years of playing it is that it has everything at a great level (quests , exploring , great gameplay and voice acting ) but it is all ruined due to its uninspiring story , weak soundtrack , and one of the worst main players ever Vaan

I have a question.. I don't know if this is a glitch or not in my game but when I use a Vanishga Mote, it's supposed to turn me invisible. When I check the Status Effect screen it says something like "hidden from watchful eyes and cannot be targeted by foes". Well, it seems every enemy can still see and target my unit. It has no effect?
I just got into the FF games not too long ago, maybe a few weeks. I'm playing 10 right now, and it's an amazing game. This looks great too, but is there any way to turn off the automatic battling? I rented it once and it bored me having to watch the battles. I there a way to turn it off?

I dont normally spend this much time with games but with ffxii it was different. I wanted to complete as many of the innumerable side quests as possible simply because the experience was so enjoyable. After 100 hours I had only really barely scratched the surface of the gambit system too.
If you dont let the comparitively minor issues like the weak espers and the restrictive leveling system affect your opinion too much, then to play ffxii is to experience pure fantasy at its most grandure.
There are THOUSANDS of people to talk to, each having their own thoughts and problems, which adds to the sense of a living, breathing, bustling world; a world that through exploration became the central 'story' rather than the scripted one!
A testement to the aesthetic beauty and variety of Ivalice and of the fighting system was that I spent over 100 hours playing the game and I can truely say not once was I bored
quality of the production values. I was in awe throughout this game with its presentation, particularly the vast and detailed areas to explore and the absolutely stellar voice acting and script. Seriously, the dialogue is almost shakesperian in its depth and fluidity.
The actual world of ivalice is the most fully realised I have ever encountered in a game. I had a real sense of adventure traversing the land moving through diverse environments which were truely massive in scale.
For me this final fantasy gave me one of my fondest gaming experiences. Though the story was convoluted with too many branches, which made the task of tying up the loose ends difficult for the designers, it showed alot of promise with moments of brilliance. The side story with vossler and its conclusion aboard the bahumat was touchingly crafted with much complex emotional weight to his personal dillema. I'll never forget that last shot of him..
It was impossible not to get swept up by the sheer
@AtlansTalon:r FFX-2 wasn't called FFXI because it was not a main game in the series. It was a spin off. The Final Fantsy games have Chocobos in common with each other. There are some characters whose names appear in all of the games but the characters are different each time, for example Cid. A lot of the summons appear frequently, the most common being the likes of Shiva, Ifrit and Bahamut, the more rare ones being Alexander. This is the limit of similarities between main games in the series.

this final fantasy wasnt that good, the battle system was very boring and repetitive and the characters looked very ugly exept ashe (she was lovely) and how the characters act like a moran ( yes vaan im talking about you) so this one is a fail in my opinion .
but there is a good thing , the fact that you can walk around in a very beautiful towns were nice , because i heard that ff13 doesnt have anywhere to explore so that makes me sad .

In my opinion, I like XII the best, followed by VIII, and then IX, and then VII, and then X, IV, VI, III, V, II, I. =) I think FFXIII will take the spot between FFVIII and FFXII though, because I think I'll still love FFXII more. A great end to the ps2 FF saga, now I can't wait for XIII.

Balthier should have been the main character in this game, he is one of the best ever in FF series. He matches the rank of Cloud, Yuna, Sephiroth, Cid etc... Vann doesn't even come close.

@IRONMIKEHHH yes this game is wicked good! in my own opionion, im not quite as fond of the storyline in FFXII as in FFX, but the battle system cool because the monsters all run around and you can see them on your map. the three people that are your party fight them. i liked the characters in FFX, but the characters in this game are all VERY different, and with dynamic personalities, it's easy to like these characters more. i recommend trying it :)

I didn't like FF12. The game play was pretty good, and i liked the whole idea of side quests. But i didn't care for the lvling system in this one, and i thought the story was kind of under zealous and the animation style this time around was disappointing. Also the "overdrive" mechanic that is in other FF games is really bad. I remember how bad my hands were blistered stacking the quickenings to like 60 or 90 (been a while since i've played). Summons were cool though.

Imagine FFXII as....constant 2-3 hours of getting through wildlife/battles and stuff. And when you get somewhere you get a crap scene (to me, I really dont like the story lol) Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the system. But the story lacks depth.
FFXIII = Geared towards story, character development and battle system
FFXII = Geared towards gamplay, MMO style of playing, non-linear
I suggest pick up FFX. It's a lot more blanced.

But it wasted the opportunity with sappy melodrama, an uninteresting love story and fairly tiresome character interactions. Both games have character development. It's just that XII also presents a far more mature and intelligent plot to go along with it.

@PatsieVideosDoom I disagree. FFXII had a lot of subtle intricacies to the plot that were really quite interesting in my opinion. However, I think a lot of them were missed by people - so I agree that they should have been expanded upon more. FFX was the reverse, it had very thoroughly developed characters but sometimes it seemed like it was insulting your intelligence. Nevertheless I think that both FFX and FFXII were fantastic games - just very different. FFIX is my all-time favourite though.

FFXII: Mature, clever storyline with fascinating political intrigue but thinly spread cutscenes leave some less interesting dungeon crawling. Fun, open world battles.
FFX: Immersive characters and story, but slightly cheesily written and voiced. Less freedom than FFXII but better than FFXIII. Good gameplay.
FFIX: Great story and characters, good amounts of freedom and strong gameplay (although it can be a bit slow). My favourite game.

do you keep the same characters throughout? or do you have to go through the frustration of leveling up a character, and then have them replaced by another one, or have them leave due to the story? i think i remember having a character at the beginning of the game, then she leaves the party and comes back later completely different... can you choose who you use?

@kpotassium Sometimes you have characters come on as guests to fight with you but they usually don't stay long and you can't control anything about them. Once you get your full party of six people, they never leave, or as far as I can tell, but I'm not that far through that game. And only three of the six characters are in your party at once.

I have a question.. I don't know if this is a glitch or not in my game but when I use a Vanishga Mote, it's supposed to turn me invisible. When I check the Status Effect screen it says something like "hidden from watchful eyes and cannot be targeted by foes". Well, it seems every enemy can still see and target my unit. It has no effect?

I dont normally spend this much time with games but with ffxii it was different. I wanted to complete as many of the innumerable side quests as possible simply because the experience was so enjoyable. After 100 hours I had only really barely scratched the surface of the gambit system too.
If you dont let the comparitively minor issues like the weak espers and the restrictive leveling system affect your opinion too much, then to play ffxii is to experience pure fantasy at its most grandure.

A testement to the aesthetic beauty and variety of Ivalice and of the fighting system was that I spent over 100 hours playing the game and I can truely say not once was I bored

quality of the production values. I was in awe throughout this game with its presentation, particularly the vast and detailed areas to explore and the absolutely stellar voice acting and script. Seriously, the dialogue is almost shakesperian in its depth and fluidity.
The actual world of ivalice is the most fully realised I have ever encountered in a game. I had a real sense of adventure traversing the land moving through diverse environments which were truely massive in scale.

For me this final fantasy gave me one of my fondest gaming experiences. Though the story was convoluted with too many branches, which made the task of tying up the loose ends difficult for the designers, it showed alot of promise with moments of brilliance. The side story with vossler and its conclusion aboard the bahumat was touchingly crafted with much complex emotional weight to his personal dillema. I'll never forget that last shot of him..

@AtlansTalon:r FFX-2 wasn't called FFXI because it was not a main game in the series. It was a spin off. The Final Fantsy games have Chocobos in common with each other. There are some characters whose names appear in all of the games but the characters are different each time, for example Cid. A lot of the summons appear frequently, the most common being the likes of Shiva, Ifrit and Bahamut, the more rare ones being Alexander. This is the limit of similarities between main games in the series.

In my opinion, I like XII the best, followed by VIII, and then IX, and then VII, and then X, IV, VI, III, V, II, I. =) I think FFXIII will take the spot between FFVIII and FFXII though, because I think I'll still love FFXII more. A great end to the ps2 FF saga, now I can't wait for XIII.

This game should not have the Final Fantasy title. It's a good game but not Final Fantasy Quality.
- The characters don't look like Final Fantasy characters. For ex: Basche looks like he's from LOTR, he doesn't belong in FF, sorry.
