  • I think it's sad what the governments have done *TO* everyone, including the freedom of the natives.

  • My real dad had Souix Indian in him. Not sure how much. My mom was Italian. But I love all Indian descent. Plus I think they are awesomely hot. I love Cherokee and all. I also love this song and I do know that I never lived in a tee-pee but would have loved it. I do know that all the tribes were most likely the healthiest ppl in the world. I think it's sad what the governments have done the everyone, including the freedom of the natives.

  • Cherokkee People; I am Part Indian.... Part Anglican!!!! Fulll Breed ShoWolF!!!! I play Electric Blue guitar and I Rock!!!! Let's Keep The Tribes Going!!!! Love Americana! I am going ta' Rock Amrica To the Hilt! Someday; Soon.... america is going to see ShowolF Live!!!! I am going to make my Ancestors Proud!!!! ShoWolF One Rocks!!!!

  • ITS THE SPIRIT OF THE SONG THAT INVOKES MY EMOTIONS

  • My people were Choctaw we were removed from our Native lands from 1831 to 1833, The Cherokee were not removed until 1838.

  • They may our homes they may take our land they may take our food they may take our lives but they may never take our pride

  • Mark Lindsey/Paul Revere and the Raiders.Mark was the lead singer and Native.

  • Paul Revere and the rest of you PUBLICLY EDUCATED PEOPLE have NO IDEA, what "is a so called Cherokee"; or "how is it they lived here 10,000 years" before Whites and Religion? You've all been fed on out-west BS, handed down through your history books, and fantasy books from the late 1870's. Most of you haven't a clue that YOU, through your ancestors created GENOCIDE on ALL native people in this place YOU called the new world. So, now you sit in your fenced yards and grow non-edible grass.

  • @MrSchpankme Get over your self..Native Americans did the same thing..went to war with other tribes for land..etc..all humans kill for land even today

  • @George6360 .. Do you have any examples of the so called Cherokee PEOPLE going to war and killing others for land?

  • @MrSchpankme They spent over 40 years fighting the Shawnee with the aid of the Chickasaws for control of the Tennessee Valley, then in 1765 went to war with the Chickasaw when they decided to settle in the land they helped to win..in 1769 the Chickasaw withdrew even though they won the war because so much was lost and so many killed. The Cherokee also went to war alined with Britain against other tribes in hopes of protecting land and expanding grounds.

  • Paul Revere and the Raiders did this song.

Nothing in the video is accurate about the Cherokee people. I hope this was not done as a joke. Peace.

  • i like the post by katydidscorner. I don't think the Indians deserved any of what happend to them.and they are still making won't leave them alone.

  • paul revere and the raiders...old song from the early '70's or late sixties...

  • @dragontooth613 there is no such thing as part cherokee. you either are or arent. And even if you only have one drop of cherokee blood, even if you are 1/500th part cherokee, you are a cherokee indian =}

  • @keroseneXXofXXtears ya your right, i am cherokee, thnx for clearing that up

  • I am proud that I am Tsalagi! :D Too bad I didn't inherit the skin tone of my other family members... I'm the only light-skinned person in my family. The rest are all darkly tanned or red. But hey, at least I speak the language and have the good looks. ;)

  • @777BROKENMESSIAH wow, you are so lucky.. my family does not practice any of our heritage, anything I know of my Cherokee heritage, I had to find myself. I wish I had someone to teach and explain to me the language and religion. I love being cherokee, I've always felt connected to it, as if I can feel my ancestors presence. =} And I'm red skinned, and occasionally a goldeny brown. =p lol

  • Paul Revere & the Raiders are the group who did this songggg

  • Now, just a god damn shame...

    I'm glad i don't have white ancestry 0.0..

  • @elicroy, I am sad we share the same human ancestry. To know that I am somehow related to you is an insult. Keep your racist comments to yourself, simpleton.

  • I very highly doubt the message at the end VERY VERY highly

  • The White man (Anglo Americans) are the most formidable foe to ever exist in the history of man.

  • yes i am having a midlife identity crisis.

  • im mexican, white, with cherokee, aztek, and blackfoot

  • everyones always half cherokee. im navajo but when i ask people there ethnicity they always say there half cherokee. its nothing bad but its kinda annoying. wow i sound bitchy. but im ade my point.

  • @EshaWartooth wow. you know what i find annoying? people who are so prude they can't share their heritage. oh yeah, my father is full cherokee, so i guess that makes me half! but thats not good enough for you huh? thats why we've lost our identity. if you are a half breed, noone wants to f*cking claim you because of it. you are a straight up bitch.

  • to answer a question someone asked on here..cherokee is a specific native american tribe...and the singers of this song on the video was Paul Revere and The Raiders

  • Comment removed

  • its a specific native american tribe..

  • It's a tribe. Diffrent tribes called their own tribes Nations.

  • 0:19 Cherokee didn't live in tipis or tepees.however u wanna spell it. as part cherokee myself i found this video to be misleading and very disgraceful towards the cherokee

  • my dad loves this song, so i grew up with it....

    i'm part Cherokee.....

(also other Native American Tribe Ancestries)

  • Cherokee Pride all the way!

  • cherokee ppl dident live in tiipiis

  • Cherokee people never lived in tepees. Cherokee people were sedentary, were farmers, fisherman hunters of deer, and lived in houses in the Southeast Apalacia and surrounding areas. They never followed or hunted buffalo. Only Plains Indians lived in tepees and hunted buffalo. Cherokee people never dressed the way you show in the cartoons and pictures in your video. I didn't post this to offend anyone...just wanted to be honest.

  • True.

  • @katydidscorner exatly

  • @katydidscorner I know what indians you are talking about, the Cherokee didnt hun t buffalo OR live in tepees in the Midwest, that was the Sioux indians

  • @katydidscorner They didn't wear war bonnets either, tthey wore turbans and wore nice clothes made of fine linen.

  • @katydidscorner Thats right

  • @katydidscorner If they would of tasted some bbq'ed buffalo...they'd be huntin it. It's fuckin tasty.

  • @katydidscorner Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @katydidscorner tbh we wear native american customs. when we are at the pow wows do the seramonies. get your facts straight. tbh im half cherokee and half white.

  • my teacher played this song in 8th grade to help us understand it and what not

  • Until this country does right by the "First Nation" people (whether Recognized or not), it will not be blessed again. It will continue on it's path of destruction. Creator, the one true living GOD, is a covenant maker and he stands by them, he does not tolerate a covenant breaker!

  • As a Cherokee Wolf Clan tribesman myself we were kind of embarrassed when this song came out a long time ago. However it was a differant time back then. Now anything that can bring our message is welcomed. All the people that gave positive comments on this vid I thank you. Please attend a Pow Wow this Spring and Summer and enjoy the brotherhood of the Native American tribes

  • My grandfather was half cherokee, and it's something I've always thought was cool. I live in Arizona though, you guys ever go on the road? Or are there any cherokee tribes in AZ. I don't think there are, but I would like to explore that side of my family history. The old ways you know. Always wanted to go on a vision quest. Thanks. The Cherokee were some great warriors, and have a very rich history.

  • Sorry but this song isn't by Redbone. It's by Paul Revere and The Raiders.

  • Ok.

    Does it realy matter?

  • Ummh! I really think it does since the info on the side read they weren't sure who the band was. So yeah it really does! Thank You!

  • JUDGEMENT DAY IS COMING SOON

  • and you posted this 4 months ago...and it still isnt here

  • i heard this song in solcial studies a couple of years ago!!! i luv this song! i hate when people are treated wrong just because they are a different color!! everybody is in ONE nation! we should stick together!!

  • I have one full-blooded Cherokee Indian ancestor, my father's grandmother. The rest of my ancestry is Scottish and Irish and I feel terrible about how the Indians were treated by white people. I was born and grew up in Oklahoma. I love the Native American culture there -- it is so beautiful. Today's society could learn A LOT from Native Americans. I love how they are such a spiritual people. The Native American way of living is definitely better.

  • I am not Indian but always thought it was sad how the Indians were treated .The anger it caused also is very sad. Makes me ask why can not we all get along all the hated and bitterness in this world and how other races have treated . I believe we are all equal in god eyes . This song i loved very much growing up . that is why i posted it

  • So that makes it all right that all North American tribes were later conquered and slaughtered by Europeans?

It was a travesty either way.

  • dsmfishgal So that makes it all right that all North American tribes were later conquered and slaughtered by Europeans?

It was a travesty either way.

    -----------

Yes it makes it all right

  • @Suki40330 I love my Cherokee heritage, my great grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee who escaped the trail of tears. My grandmother, grandfather, and my father do not practice the culture and religion, nor the language. I have always felt so.. connected to my heritage though, as if I lived a past life as a Cherokee. But they have taught me nothing of their religon and culture, and I want so badly to learn and live it. I did not even recieve a Cherokee tribal name.

  • @Suki40330

They were never forced to eat Irish food

(Scottish + Irish! Historically losers to the English. You have things in common with the Cherokee.)

  • @Suki40330

    Osiyo!

That means that you have NA blood and are my sister. Embrace your heratige!

  • cool!!5*****..ps: dont forget the other tribes shoved into Oklahoma. its sad.

  • this song really sends aood message. the white man didn't like the way we lived because it was different than what they beleived. they did us wrong and i sure hope that one day our heritage will be restored

  • Hello D. ROX14

I'm a white man and ashamed of the way Native Americans were treated. I hope your people will always keep your culture alive so it wont have to be "restored" but flourish. I greatly admire a people who know how to live in close harmony with the earth and be a part of the ecology by taking only what you need from it, Instead of destroying the ecology by raping the Earth as the white man does. I have a question for you but I'm running out of space, I'll continue.

  • DisneyROX14 this song really sends aood message. the white man didn't like the way we lived because it was different than what they beleived. they did us wrong and i sure hope that one day our heritage will be restored

    --------

Unless alcohol can restore your heritage I doubt it lol.

  • Damned right we will and this time there will be no 'talking, no negotiations' For The Great Spirit (God, Yahweh, He who makes things happens, etc.) will give back to us , the most precious thing stolen, our identity. No government papers will be needed to validate what the hell my heritage is or who the hell I am. Identity is a powerful thing.
