  • ive started packing my wing this waybut first i had to sort out a few creased mylar inserts.

HOW??? using my girlfriends hair straightners i ironed each mylsr piece and rubbed it flat whilst hot. i also 'ironed' all the edges this way. The edges and inserts are now crisp like new and can be folded away using this technique, ensuring they will be as they are meant to be..

  • Search for the "Madsen Pack" on youtube. This method works when its windy and its fast and easy. All the myler are together and you don't have to disconnect your harness.

  • You can combine a million techniques how to fold it in... these bags offer that... which ever suits you best...

  • well shouldn't the mylars be kept flat?? Else they will surely fold if kept vertical....am I missing something from the video?>\

  • Hiya yeah, as stated somewhere earlier in the video I missed one stage when it's all zipped up it should be rolled 90 degree (ie on it's side so the mylars are parallel to the ground) before folding...

  • I can do that almost as fast without such a bag I am afraid. And when I have two people I can even fold cell-to-cell faster than with this bag.

    So not convincing for me...

  • Hi thanks for your comments, we've had excellent feedback from hundreds of satisfied customers who find it is quicker. I wouldn't deny that two people could pack more quickly but I'm usually on my own when I land out after a long XC, this bag is targeted at XC flyers who will be packing up on their own often in gusty conditions.

  • It is very practical but ... You know that the air should not be removed from the seams, but not to force the cells.

  • rip off

  • Well lots of satisfied customers don't seem to think so but you are free to have have your own opinion

  • This is bulls crap! It's the ordinary packing way into an ordinary bag, only with those things fixed aroudn the folded wing! Everybody can make the same thing only by cutting theyre old school bag or something.

  • It is not much faster then a regular accordion folding. A guy here in Brazil just copied that design and is trying to sell with no good results.

If you wanna be fast, get a quick pack.

I always carry a small clamp, it makes very easy when you are folding alone.

Look for the "Handi-Clamps" on IRWIN website.

  • i prefer cell-to cell folding,it is a good way to protect mylars..Everyone says it is not a fast way to fold, but if you get used to it, it becomes a fast way...

Of course this is my opinion and nothing is wrong with a new product:)

  • The direction of the zipper is wrong, may be the reason is the design, or the man demonstrates the product in a wrong way..

    anyway,

it is much easier to do it using the old way:)

  • Hi as stated above I think the zipper works fine this way round. As for the old method being easier well it's a matter of opinion, if you mean folding the tips into the middle then this is only a little faster but that method doesn't protect your mylars.

  • Almost good....

The zipper should start from the tail,,,so the air can be naturally pushed towards the leading edge of the glider.

  • Do you mean the bag design is wrong or that the demo is wrong?

  • ....design could be different yes.. Having the zipper going from trailing edge of the glider would direct the air out the right way. (could make it more complicated to close the zipper..have to try first...;D)

    Demo video:

The way the glider is folded in the end pushes even more air out through the TE of the glider.

The LE/ribs of the glider is also folded in a way that they will bent.(according to the start of the video..the ribs are facing the zipper).

    (do you see my points?)

  • Yes, I just bought a Cocoon bag from parasupply dot com but haven't had a play yet. Will be interested to see how it works in on the hill in the wind!

  • The LE/ribs of the glider is also folded in a way that they will bent.(according to the start of the video..the ribs are facing the zipper).

=> strange demo, shouldn't be a problem to turn it 90 derees. There is also not much air in the glider, will be more a problem after flying use?

  • Yep it has been pointed out that I should roll the bag over 90 degrees before the final fold, however in my experience the mylars haven't been bent using the method in the video. As for being harder after flying I haven't noticed any real difference. I also think having the zip round the other way would make it much harder to pack the rest of the glider away, you would have to fold it rather than simply pull it in and in gusty wind this would be harder.

  • Yes you are right it would in this case have been better to do the final fold from the TE of the glider. I folded from the LE out of habit as I normally leave my glider attached to the harness.
