@EatmyDust1311 First of all only the 599xx and 599gtb have official nurburgring lap times. The 599gtb's lap was done by sport auto i believe and was done on stock tires. The 599xx was done on slicks but it's fair game as it's a non street legal semi racing version which wasn't competing for the production lap record only the preduction derived recored. And if you really believe Ferrari are the only manufacturer to tweek their cars then you are truly deluded.

@aieljose you dont know how modern ECU's work? they dont need a "tune up". once they are tuned thats it. the maintenance on a ferrari is insane, and anybody that doesnt keep thier car in top shape (especially if they are giving it to a mag to test) dont have the brains to make the money to buy a ferrari. a manufactuer should not be allowed to custom tune thier car for each test because it cannot represent accurately what the actual customer cars are like.

Almost everyone has gone under 3.5 seconds and gotten quartermile times right around 11.2 secs. Motortrend Road and track Car and driver...ect. So you basically accusing Ferrari of tweeking all of those cars which is funny
@aieljose The 458 does 11 flat in the quarer mile. The 599 GTB does 11.1. The 599 GTO does about 10.7 seconds in theory, but I haven't seen any actual times. I suspect they're very close nonetheless.

as for your comment on Ferrari, no matter how much you dislike, they are a major part of the history of cars and a major part of the future. they bring in so much of the new technologies that make your average car what it is today. when you buy a Ferrari (or something of the like) you get the equivalent of a stylish version of the top class M series BMW, available in 20 years+

Stop picking sides and just appreciate great cars for what they are.

@Fabhaven the bugatti is a car built around an engine, not everyone can put a 1000 horsepower engine into a car and have it stay on the ground, if u put that engine into the 599 its gonna fly whenever it approaches a corner, thats y the bugatti is so heavy and uniquely shaped (to give enough downward force)

seriously i don't like any more top gear reviews. hammond does horrible reviews. james simply doesn´t do them and jezza lost the sparkle that he had in past seasons. fifth gear do good revie. but they look expecially in this season on a hurry. then they put the great tiff needell doing crappy review to electric car instead of gto or gt3 rs. and this 30 MINUTES EPISODE REALY SUCKS
I tend to respect Fifth Gears serious car reviews like this more than when Top Gear attempt it, although when Fifth Gear tries to copy Top Gear at the entertainment side of things by thinking up wacky ideas it shows itself up for a second rate show.
I think Fifth Gear should concentrate on serious car reviews which will then differentiate it from Top Gear.

I'm very envious of Jason. You can tell how much fun he's having driving this race-going road car, all the while being very respectful of it. I think he gave us a real sense of how awesome it is, and how far Ferrari has taken this car. This is clearly one of the better reviews, to me anyway. The critics can say what they want, but this guy really understands driving dynamics.
can't compare turbos to NA like that. well built v6 turbos can easily hit 1000hp. but turbos have a distinctive flatlining at the beginning of the rev range, while NA engines provide a very consistent torque increase. NA respond faster, which is why makers like ferrari honda mclaren still use NA engines instead of turbo.

@EatmyDust1311 First of all only the 599xx and 599gtb have official nurburgring lap times. The 599gtb's lap was done by sport auto i believe and was done on stock tires. The 599xx was done on slicks but it's fair game as it's a non street legal semi racing version which wasn't competing for the production lap record only the preduction derived recored. And if you really believe Ferrari are the only manufacturer to tweek their cars then you are truly deluded.

@aieljose i am not talking about nurburgring times, 99% of those are cheated on. but when ferrari say there car will do a track in x amount of time, and will let you take thier car around and almost match it that is fine. but then the mag took a privately owned car and couldnt come within 2 seconds of that time, there is a problem and only ferrari does it that was. also, for press events they bring 2 cars, one for acceleration tests and one for handing tests. only one that does it that way.

Could be the customers car had a problem or needed a tune up. wouldn't you agree that's possibility? There's alot of assumtions in your claims without any proof to substantiate any of it.

@aieljose you dont know how modern ECU's work? they dont need a "tune up". once they are tuned thats it. the maintenance on a ferrari is insane, and anybody that doesnt keep thier car in top shape (especially if they are giving it to a mag to test) dont have the brains to make the money to buy a ferrari. a manufactuer should not be allowed to custom tune thier car for each test because it cannot represent accurately what the actual customer cars are like.

@EatmyDust1311 LMAO! That's not ferrari's claim. That's the fastest official 1/4 mile time done in a 458. Ferrari don't claim 1/4 mile performance figures. If you go to their website they claim a 0-60 time of less than 3.5 seconds and a top speed of over 200mph. That's it! Almost everyone has gone under 3.5 seconds and gotten quartermile times right around 11.2 secs. Motortrend Road and track Car and driver...ect. So you basically accusing Ferrari of tweeking all of those cars which is funny

@aieljose The 458 does 11 flat in the quarer mile. The 599 GTB does 11.1. The 599 GTO does about 10.7 seconds in theory, but I haven't seen any actual times. I suspect they're very close nonetheless.

as for your comment on Ferrari, no matter how much you dislike, they are a major part of the history of cars and a major part of the future. they bring in so much of the new technologies that make your average car what it is today. when you buy a Ferrari (or something of the like) you get the equivalent of a stylish version of the top class M series BMW, available in 20 years+

@Fabhaven Not every manufacturer can make a 260mph car that is still a luxury car, is practical, and can last for 10 or 20 years. That's what's impressive about the Veyron. And the ZR1 is a great car. It may not be as advanced but it's just supposed to be fun and fucking fast. 599 is great. Corvette is great. Veyron is great. Stop picking sides and just appreciate great cars for what they are.

@Fabhaven the bugatti is a car built around an engine, not everyone can put a 1000 horsepower engine into a car and have it stay on the ground, if u put that engine into the 599 its gonna fly whenever it approaches a corner, thats y the bugatti is so heavy and uniquely shaped (to give enough downward force)
ferrrari has a wonderful philosophy when it comes to cars but bugatti has their own unique style as well, dont criticise if you obviously don't know enough, its a personal choice

seriously i don't like any more top gear reviews. hammond does horrible reviews. james simply doesn´t do them and jezza lost the sparkle that he had in past seasons. fifth gear do good revie. but they look expecially in this season on a hurry. then they put the great tiff needell doing crappy review to electric car instead of gto or gt3 rs. and this 30 MINUTES EPISODE REALY SUCKS

I tend to respect Fifth Gears serious car reviews like this more than when Top Gear attempt it, although when Fifth Gear tries to copy Top Gear at the entertainment side of things by thinking up wacky ideas it shows itself up for a second rate show.
I think Fifth Gear should concentrate on serious car reviews which will then differentiate it from Top Gear.

I'm very envious of Jason. You can tell how much fun he's having driving this race-going road car, all the while being very respectful of it. I think he gave us a real sense of how awesome it is, and how far Ferrari has taken this car. This is clearly one of the better reviews, to me anyway. The critics can say what they want, but this guy really understands driving dynamics.

can't compare turbos to NA like that. well built v6 turbos can easily hit 1000hp. but turbos have a distinctive flatlining at the beginning of the rev range, while NA engines provide a very consistent torque increase. NA respond faster, which is why makers like ferrari honda mclaren still use NA engines instead of turbo.
