  • do you still have this truck?

  • That guy's showing of his K-wopper!

  • sounds sooo good

  • thats one sick sounding detroit

  • beautiful truck man

  • This truck is awesome

  • SOUNDS AMAZING, LIKE THE TRUCK IN MAXIUM OVERDRIVE!!!

  • CAT KILLER BABY

  • V8 ???

  • @unclewilly2 hell no thats a 318 2 stroke 6 cylinder my freind so it seems like the 6-71 or the 6v-71

  • @Monstertruck1199

    No, that's NOT a 6 Cylinder, it's and 8 Cylinder.

    A 6 sounds different from the 8.

  • @blackandgold51 - a 318 Detroit is a 6 cylinder. 653 or 6V53 is a 6 cylinder x 53 CID per cylinder, 6x53 = 318. An 853 (I'm not even sure 8s were built on the 53 series) would be a 412.

  • @Alrgc2Air Mathematics FAIL Ha hahahahahahahahhahahah

  • @vrednie - Damn, you're right, 8x3=24 so 8V53 would be a 424 LOL... Thanks for pointing that out, my bad... I was tired LOL

  • @Alrgc2Air Ha Ha Ha, This is really so funny. I was actually joking that you pointed out how someone else failed at maths, but i didn't realise that you did too!!!!! Aaaah, i love youtube!!!!!! Its taking my mind off living in Brisbane at the moment ;-)

  • @Alrgc2Air Yes, 8V53's were built....many used in Military and various industrial applications...have even seen

    a few in class 8 trucks..but, very rare. The 6v53, 8v71 & 8v92's are still being produced NEW...primarily for

the military, though some get channeled off to the marine sector.

  • @TurbinePower69 - tank engines?Or just replacements for repowering existing trucks? I'm under the impression that the miltary Hummers use the 6.5 Detroit...

  • @Alrgc2Air None in tanks, but replacements in APC's, gen sets, etc, etc. The Hummers do use "detroits"

...however, most people get confused with the difference between the "modern day" Detroit diesel that

produced the diesels (four cycle) for hummers, etc (really, GM Diesel) and the INDUSTRIAL Detroit Diesel

that was Originally, GM Diesel, and produced the two cycle diesels for marine, industrial, military and

heavy truck apps. and now 4 cycle.

  • @TurbinePower69 - Interesting info.... So basically there were two divisions of Detroit Diesel? Or did the original division just change it's focus?

  • @Alrgc2Air Yes..actually there is 3, but only One, is still retained by GM....and that "Detroit Diesel" is actually under AM General and mfg'd by that divisions GEP (General Engine Products) of which the current "light duty

line up of (automotive) diesels are produced, including the military Hummv's.

The medium & heavy duty Detroit Diesel is no longer a part of GM whatsoever, and is split in two with the ON-Hwy truck div. owned by Daimler-Benz & OFF-hwy owned TOGNUM / MTU...Germany.

  • i wanna see some smoke!!!

  • Whats the matter sevenson6,You didn't like Me complementing you on your engine sound? That must be a first!

  • What does Detroit 318 means, cubic inches ? other Detroit are named 71 . 92 and such.

  • mmmmmmmmmmm very nice sound great 8V71

  • Man I tell you she sounds awesome.. but I gotta know why the purple brother?

  • gotta love detroit diesel. they're by far the most distinctive sounding engines out there. and loudest too!

  • almost sounds like as if it had backdrop manifolds. when it first took off it reminded me of a 275 cummins with backdrp manifolds.

  • Jeez, you put straight pipes on a 318? That's extremely loud, but genious!

  • nice sound i listen with my head phones on my lap top, sweet dd music

  • Alpha Beta grocery stores in southern California use to have a fleet of GMC Astro 95's with 8V71's 318HP. I grew up on listening to them & this is the closest sound to them I have heard. I am going to find an old photo & add a clip of this sound some day (with permission of course) my brother knows what I am talking about. I remember Chet Wilcox drove one & parked it behind the store on Mt Acadia blvd in Clairemont Zip code 92111. Any one else from San Diego remember

  • Is that a 77 kenworth? Looks like a late 70's model-

  • 1970

  • @sevenson6 you mean 1970 cat killer lol i can't stop saying that man you really got me going when you said that in your vid

  • @sevenson6

Now all you gotta do is put the extra cab compartm, ent in the back and you're all set.

  • Thats music to my ears. Ther is no such thing ase to loud

  • im cummins guy.. but... I would love to own a detroit..

  • holy shit it doesn't look like it needs anything its one sharp lookin ride!

  • WOW you need some bigger pipes... dammit man.

  • 318 is five litres yes

  • those stacks are nuts

  • 318 is for 318hp , the motor is 8v72 or 8x72pc = 576 pc

  • Engine is 8V71 = 568 CID

  • Sounds like the mean bastard From amximum overdrive, nice!

  • DUDE THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!! lol all it needs is the HAPPY GO LUCKY toy trailer and the mean lookin face on the front. but yeah man. plus i love that movie, i want them to make it on DVD but its only on VHS lol.
