hans zimmer brings emotion to movies. example: Inception: i cought myself 7 times with my mouth open. THATS CUZ OF THE MUSIC!! epic.. thats what movies are all about.. bringing it WIth epic music KOBE!!!
okay so this may be a stupid question but what is that instrument that plays in old japanese songs that sounds very alike to a flute? is it just a flute or another instrument?
someone may think it's stupid for a man but... I cried like a baby during the last fight (ok, I cry every single time I see the Movie). but it's so intense when the music stops and you see the last samurais die by the hand of their own compatriots. You can feel Japan loosing his past in that right moment. All in the name of progress and to became like west. I lose a piece of my heart every time I see the Movie.Friend, i do the same, cryes maby 5 times in hole movie.Werry emotional movie.
That´s a bit harsh I think. It is impossible not to get 'affected' by the last fight scene when the Imperial Captain starts crying and the soldiers all bow down in honor of the brave men they have just killed. I was perhaps not crying like a baby but I would still rank this as one of the most emotional movies I have ever seen and I would not make fun of anyone who can´t keep their composure when watching it.
You mean that the Actress Koyuki Katō, who plays the role of Taka, is the hottest woman you have ever seen. I don´t know if I would agree on it, but she is certainly one of the most beutiful women I have ever seen on and of the screen.
The shallow understanding of this movie many of you show really anger the very soul that resides in my ancestral shrine. May gates of hell be opened in front of your doors and thunders and lighting work their way with you
The way of the sword or way of the samurai will never die the culture will always be in those who believe in it that is why people love this movie and music because it shows exactly that and proves that no matter who you are or what you do you will always be part of something important that takes part of your everyday life so embrace this message and show who you really are and how you really feel to this world that is growing non stop we can make a difference and show what the past means.
This is when my mind races and I would gladly give up everything I have to live in the Samurai life and just learn the way to live. And this movie just inspired me so much. I'd gladly go anywhere were they do Re-Enacctments
someone may think it's stupid for a man but... @gioko84 dude i feel you. i did too specially when ken watanabe was dying and he said zzzzzzzz *perfect* omg i started crying lol. and i know they are the reason japan rose to be an imperial power. samurai culture was the best!!!
Japan needed to move on, it could never survive under bows and swords. The Samurai spirit still lives on in Japan even today. World War 2 was an example with their suicide tactics
They believed that dying whilst fighting your enemy is the most honorable thing you can do. So if you didnt realise, they didnt just randomly fly their aircraft into the enemy for no reason
@ninjaboy780 It was a bit the same thing for a groupe oh warrios in Syria during the crusades, they where fond of their culture, but their leaders where turning them mad. Kamizakes pilots where doing that for their country... It's kind of sad... (sorry for my bad english, I'm french Xx)
@Kozuechan2894 Its fine, Yeah but hey i'm American/Japanese and the last battle was on September 24 my birthday so i felt i was a descendant of a samurai so i devoted my life to bushido and i live in Japan i have samurai armor and a katana I live in a small traditional Japanese home.
@ninjaboy780 you two as well huh my ancestor pass down his sword to this generation to the 5th son which was me and im greatful for it and until that day i found out i moved back to my home town which is Japan living by my ancestor memory
@Kozuechan2894 I am very impressed there's someone else just like me out there, I don't know why but I just had a feeling in me that brought me to Japan and living the life of the samurai code... if you can understand
@gioko84 hey don't worry I do too... even though im a girl :P but even listening to the music I cry like a close relative has just died. What worries me is that this could be the way of all cultures... all to die in the name of a universal way including language in conduct. I'm Scottish and Gaelic is already becoming an extinct language which makes me sad as it's our heritage.
"You have your honor again. Let me die with Mine" "Perfect. They. . . are. . . all. . . perfect!" One of the best movie lines ever. I only hope my last words come close to being so profound, so moving.
@Drag0nknight999 I agree and in todays warfare there is no honour anymore. Soldiers don´t even face each other face to face but rather stay as far away from their enemies as possible to gun them down with as little exposure to themselves as possible. Even the battlefields have been changed to villages and towns where innocent casualties mix with warriors. Development and modernism? Ok but to what cost physically, ethically and morally?
@AnonymousRogue Do you honestly believe that most soldiers are there for entertainment or money? First of all, considering the work and training required, military pay is comparatively shitty. Secondly, there may be those goober-ass soldiers that are there for fun or to be "badasses", but the majority of a volunteer military is going to be made up of individuals who truly want to defend their nation with honor.
@OTOWN2STOCKTOWN the only difference nowadays is that we are more aware of innocent civilian casualties. don't start thinking for a minute that back then people were more noble as to not slay the general populace if they were supporting even against their will the enemy. Just cause we didn't have newspapers and internet updates on the stuff happening back then doesn't mean it didn't happen, if not in greater amounts.
@OTOWN2STOCKTOWN To be honest, I don't know why anybody ever bother leaving comments, because the majority of the time, you just get twats (not necessarily you, I'm speaking in general) responding with nonsense, or something that's bound to found offensive.
The Last Samurai is a good movie, has good music, why the hell do we all argue about something that is completely beside the point?
@love1peace3 dont be fooled by the sword that i got, im still, im still katsumoto from the block. fought a gatling gun, and now im shot, but still i know where i came frooooom
@thespiritguru22 What?? how can you be a soldier and say that! we are trained to use guns effectenly it takes alot of practice to use a gun correctly...
@thespiritguru22 i have no idea what you talking about lol, when was the last time you were deployed? where was your last combat mission? did you get dangerious pay? if you dont mind me asking i mean if you were shooting at sim'es then i could somewhat see your argument but elsewhear they shoot back and effectivly at times as well..
@jason4852 and what's that supposed to mean ? i'm from wales i don't tell people i'm from the u.k... how ignorant, go take your rudeness somewhere else or listen to the music without offending people you snotty child
@thespiritguru22 im ignorant?? i thought you were american i cant speak from experence because iv never been in the "wales" military only the american, Two it says your country is the United Kingdom on your youtube page. three i thought someone who went through the military would notice that it takes alot of practice and skill to fire a wepon correctly, you of all people whould know that hence Sniper battallion. i am not a child and your the one being rude. and you obviously dont have a clue.
@thespiritguru22 you have no idea what your talking about, iv served with british soldiers before and you are obviously not one of them war is war people get killed, of corse you dont know that because youv never been in the military. your a lieing scum bag and no "U.K" military man ever said anything bad about us when we were working together in join feild operations. You are a fucking pice of shit, No your much lower than that, true soldiers work together with there allies not critize them
@thespiritguru22 its quite obvious now you were never in the military you are really sad get the hell out soldier ha you are really the lowest of the low and then you removed your coments when other people came on and could see just by the way you talk your no soldier your nothing like one, we have honor and respect for our men and our allies of corse you have no idea what your taking about iv seen alot of people die and war is terrable its not perfect get off youtube you pice of shit
@thespiritguru22 If you were an American, you'd be bashing on the British military for all of its faults, because you are the type of person who can't admit his own nation- and yes, Wales is part of the U.K.- ever makes mistakes. Yes, the U.S. military screws up. They don't screw up more often, it's just that their mistakes are more widely publicized because hating the U.S. is fashionable right now. Politics, nothing more.
@Golddragon6644 its sad really, he sounded like an honerable man but seemed to be nothing like he stated he said "it takes alot more skill to use a sword than a gun take it from me im a soldier" that may be true but he "claims" to be a sniper it takes years to be an efficent one, and practice..im not saying guns are eay harder to use than swords im just saying they both require some skill to use. you dont just pick up a M16 and your rambo you need to learn to clean, fire, aim, relode, etc.
@thespiritguru22 Also, if you really are in the military, surely you must know how easy it is for others to criticize your mistakes in hindsight. If you claim you've never made any, you've obviously never seen action and are therefore not even remotely qualified to remark on this topic in so superior a manner. You seem to be more gleeful about the fact that "Oh, those stupid Americans goofed again!" than upset that human beings are dead.
@FLshade Only partially true, friend. Japan sought said guns, to protect itself from foreign incursion by western powers as had happened in Asia, China especially. Of all the Asian countries Japan was the only one to succeed in not being "colonized" in any form. Hardly a discredit to Japan's uniqueness. It is ironic though, by providing incentive for Japan to industrialize, the west created a monster it would have to fight off in the end.
The japanese had lived in isolation for hundreds of years. One generation after they were sold western technology by greedy businessmen, they were attacking Pearl Harbor.
@boys0fsummer1 That isolation and the imperial conservatism that came with it directly lead to their expansion during WW2 and the decades before it. The tokagowa shogunate isolated japan purely to consolidate tokagowan power, it had nothing to do with protecting their culture. the methods they used to keep the diamyo and their samurai in line led to nearly 2 centuries of extreme prejudice and social division. hardly the romanticised dream a lot of people seem towards it...
If you think about it, as sad as it was, the samurai would have had it no other way. They died defending their beliefs and their way of life. They died as they lived. At the hands of their enemies in battle. There is no sadness here, only honor.
Army with swords vs Army with swords = True warriors battle. Army with guns vs Army with guns = True Warriors Battle(Modern). Army with guns vs Army with swords = Cowards(Guns) vs True Warriors(Swords)
It was out of respect and mourning. For the country to become modern and move on the Samurai class had to be abolished. However, the samurai class had existed for centuries and was deeply engraved into the nation's history and culture. Those men weren't fighting out of greed or for personal gain, they were fighting to hold onto their very way of life. Ultimately it was all they really had left. Those facts became obvious to those men, but only after all the samurai were gunned down and defeated.
@RaiceaAndrei11 They are doing what we would call Kendo, based on kenjutsu. It is called "way of the sword" and its used to practice swordsmanship and form. They however are most likely using "kenjutsu" as this films era predates kendos creation
*Japanese accent* ze wfay öf ze zford.

Golddragon6644 10 months ago

Western businessmans which sold guns to Japanes are murders .. They killed a uniqueness of Japan and they had caused a attack to Pearl Harbor ..
FLshade 1 year ago
@FLshade Guns have been in Japan since the 16th century, actually ^^
tias90 1 year ago
@FLshade Only partially true, friend. Japan sought said guns, to protect itself from foreign incursion by western powers as had happened in Asia, China especially. Of all the Asian countries Japan was the only one to succeed in not being "colonized" in any form. Hardly a discredit to Japan's uniqueness. It is ironic though, by providing incentive for Japan to industrialize, the west created a monster it would have to fight off in the end.

western culture corrupts everything it touches...
The japanese had lived in isolation for hundreds of years. One generation after they were sold western technology by greedy businessmen, they were attacking Pearl Harbor.
boys0fsummer1 1 year ago
@boys0fsummer1 That isolation and the imperial conservatism that came with it directly lead to their expansion during WW2 and the decades before it. The tokagowa shogunate isolated japan purely to consolidate tokagowan power, it had nothing to do with protecting their culture. the methods they used to keep the diamyo and their samurai in line led to nearly 2 centuries of extreme prejudice and social division. hardly the romanticised dream a lot of people seem towards it...
Megiddoflame 10 months ago
If you think about it, as sad as it was, the samurai would have had it no other way. They died defending their beliefs and their way of life. They died as they lived. At the hands of their enemies in battle. There is no sadness here, only honor.

Army with swords vs Army with swords = True warriors battle. Army with guns vs Army with guns = True Warriors Battle(Modern). Army with guns vs Army with swords = Cowards(Guns) vs True Warriors(Swords)
GhostAnimals93 10 months ago 5
It was out of respect and mourning. For the country to become modern and move on the Samurai class had to be abolished. However, the samurai class had existed for centuries and was deeply engraved into the nation's history and culture. Those men weren't fighting out of greed or for personal gain, they were fighting to hold onto their very way of life. Ultimately it was all they really had left. Those facts became obvious to those men, but only after all the samurai were gunned down and defeated.

i didnt watch the movie...(dont start fucking me up,im 14)but they represent kendo kata in this picture,if i recall correct?
RaiceaAndrei11 1 year ago
@RaiceaAndrei11 They are doing what we would call Kendo, based on kenjutsu. It is called "way of the sword" and its used to practice swordsmanship and form. They however are most likely using "kenjutsu" as this films era predates kendos creation
