Actually appeasement was a reasonable policy according to many historians. It was inevitable that the Germany would abandon the Versailles Treaty. Trying to negotiate peace with Hitler, especially well the wounds of the first world war were still raw open was not far fetched. @formermullet Let me correct you there. No we shouldn't have kept our noses out of it. Britain had signed a treaty with Poland making us allies. When Germany invaded Poland, it was Britain's duty to protect Poland. We gave them a fair chance to withdraw from Poland but they didn't listen. America got involved because of Pearl Harbour, you can't expect a country to sit back and do nothing whilst their citizens and armed forces are under attack.
