@IEATTHECHILDREN Nope, at times during the song you can hear the original drums in addition to mine. I just try to mix my drums a bit louder than the ones in the song I'm covering.
@drummerhabes Oh really? I didn't even notice the original drums! Any way really good cover :D I'm getting close to actually being able to play this, but I'm not playing as... naturally as you I guess. A lot of my fills seem forced
@firedrum101 Thanks! That fill is my version of the "Bonham triplet" as some people call it. It's just two notes on the hands and one on the kick. I play it starting with a kick as KLRKLRKRL (just moving down the toms, although it's fun to mess with where you place all of these notes, another variation I like is to play one note of each triplet on the hi hat)
@drummerhabes and then ending with one more kick, a flam between the snare and floor tom, and then the crash on the 1 of the next bar. For this fill, I also added another crash on the china on the 2 of the next bar. Adds a little different dimension to the fill I guess. Hope this helps!
@jazzmasterjesus They are fun and easy to play, while also being easy to fit into many songs musically. I should use them more often than I actually do...
@drummerhabes definetly fun! I need to do less though, too much is way worse then not enough haha! Also you have some damn nice left hand doubles going on in this video... sweet song.
Well done! Really nice technique. That one little part where you were slow, I sort of liked it. Seldom does a drummer ever drag, usually the other way! Plus that was so small. Very well done, thank you for sharing. You make it look easy, but more importantly you make it look fun. Thanks!
@drummerhabes Well I think I got the intro down a little, but I'm still playing slow. But if I practice this weekend, I'll probably be able to play it very well.
5 stars, good example of how being relaxed comes through in the sound, you look totally relaxed..and it's obvious which cymbal is your favororite too .
Wow. You both nailed the original AND added new created fills! I cut my drumming teeth on this song about 20 years ago. Still so fun to play. Thanks for recording this!
@viper5390 haha I am looking for a guitarist, bassist, synthesist, and vocalist. Unfortunately...... I live about 1,500 miles away from Connecticut. :(
This is the best cover on any song and with any instrument I've ever seen by a non professional . You did a great job dude and should get yourself a band.
Love the drums on this track and you did it a solid by covering it so flawlessly, I've been looking for a china cymbol to do it the same justice. What China do you play on?
Good flowing technique, couple spots were a little different, but it still sounded good with what you did in them spots. In the coarse you were in the pocket, you helped me understand a couple spots that I needed help on, Thanks.....8-)
@drummerhabes Thanks I love terrible ted. One thing I did not think to say was this. Your brain freeze it happens to the best drummers on the planet. Is what impressed me the most about you was how you recovered from it that was awesome and that is what makes a great drummer. Nobody is perfect those things happen but when you can cover it up so well as you did means 99% of the people out there would never notice.
Ironic aint your little hickup is what impressed a fellow ex drummer the most.
Thanks, I dunno if it was the mic placement or just the way I was hitting it that day but I agree... it sounds better than it usually does in this video.
Oh what kind of camera did you use to record with?

Did you edit the actual song at all by taking out the original drum track? If so what program did you use?

@drummerhabes Edit, the sticking I noted above should be KLRKLRKLR, not KLRKLRKRL, I mixed up the last two letters. Just to clarify...

@drummerhabes potentially the greatest simple fills ever. I call them "open handed triplets".
