@5tangerines I think this show was filmed right after Betty Ford gave her controversial interview with 60 Minutes in 1975, in which she said she wouldn't be suprised if her teenage daughter had an affair, among other things. There are clips of the interview on Youtube.
It mustve been a fast tv show pregnancy if the airdate was Sept 1975, because I was born in Nov 1975 and my mom remembers that Gloria had the baby before I came. She doesnt even have the belly yet.
For the younger generation who may not get the "rabbit test" reference:
Before we could isolate hormones in blood work and urine the way to detect early pregnancy was to inject the urine of a woman into the bloodstream of a rabbit or mouse. The doctor would then dissect the animal to look for changes in the ovaries that would indicate that the woman was pregnant.
The test would have been outdated when this show aired but likely would have indicated that Edith was pregnant with Gloria.
I love it!!! "Betsy Ford" became a sex nut because someone put LTD in her cottage cheese! If she has an affair she will be a bigger girl! No pre-martial sex until after you are married and then only at night. LMAO! Archie is a riot! Archie is the king of malapropisms.

Archie is right, how the hell could Mike say he served a 5 year sentence when a/ he spent a lot of it banging Gloria under Archie's roof and b/ basically got everything on a silver platter living there. What a dink.

Yeah, & the only known sum Mike repays Archie is $150, when he gave the McGovern campaign $200 (whom Archie was dead set against) - even in those days $150 would maybe cover what Mike ate for 6 months. Later he left Gloria & son Joey to run off to a nudist commune.
There is an episode where Archie and Edith go to California to visit the Stivic's and Gloria has Mike move back in to keep up appearences as she hasn't told her parents that they split. I think that it's in that episode that it comes out that Mike joined a nudist colony.
Cause he was living with Archie Bunker, the most caustic and opinionated man on the planet. I love Archie (he kind of reminds me of my grandfather), but I get the sort of feeling.
And he did thank him in the end. I'm not defending Michael but I get where he's coming from.

they never did mention that she tried to have a baby before and Sadly lost it..... I would have thought at least them touch on the subject.
in this episode they make it seem as if it was her first time pregnant.
