Plexiglass. Also, it's the same type of glass used for armored trucks. Really heavy-duty, re-enforced.

@bhainsad It's not plexiglass...it's polycarbonate (trademark name is Lexan). Plexiglass is brittle and not all that strong. Polycarb on the other hand can be bent into a U shape and will still not break. Totally safe to stand on...the floor of that elevator is probably rated to hold 10x what you could actually fit in that car.

WOW! That is quite cool of elevator, but is small problem of those elevator floor glass is unsafe for entry the lift. Because is dangerous to used them elevator floor glass may affect cracking glass could kills. Shouldn't update for elevator with replace for floor glass into elevator anyway. The one in the CN Tower is different, as you are going up or down u can see outside not down through the elevator floor.

I remember going up the CN Tower and you can see outside from the elevator but I don't remember seeing through the floor in the elevator, but when you are walking in the CN Tower there is a floor that's made out of glass and you can see down there. I can be wrong though man I don't remember exactly to be honest with you. It was like 4 years ago I believe.

I went in August of 2008 and there was.
