This was going to be a program for the ages anyway, but "the cherry on top" is when at 4:22 she has this amazing outburst of real and honest emotion. The knock on them for years had been that they didn't connect with the audiences, but here they touched everyone. Bravo to the audience too for recognizing brilliance as it was happening! I watched on TV and whatever that audience was feeling, so was I!!!
World Champs in 2003 was my favourite one. Kraatz & Bourne, Shen & Zhao, Kwan and Plushenko- all of them were perfect. And THIS LP is my number one among programs of pairs skating. Brilliant!!

Classic forever. i just do not know why the commentators keep talking during the performance, it really disturbted. In China, the commentators will be silent during the perfomance to show their respects to the artist and let audiences to enjoy it. they will give their comments after the performance.
That is so true. When this showed in America, the commentators totally ruined the end because they spoke thru all of it. I had to search for a while on the internet for a clip where there was silence.
They got their Olympic gold last night, and I cannot help but feel that this couple has gotten better with age, They are to me probably one of the best-if not The Best- figure skating pair the world has had the opportunity to see. I wish them all the best!! This routine still brings tears to my eyes and testifies to an audience knowing greatness when they see and experience it! Thanks Shen and Zhao!!

I was in the arena the night of this program. Just looking at this again gives me chills. I still cry and I am not the kind of person that cries easily. They are just *that* amazing. I want for them to win gold soooo badly in Vancouver!! I don't care what happens in any other discipline, so long as they take home pairs gold. They have been through so much together and persevered! @danibellerika you were so lucky to be there, I would have given anything to see this performance, of all the ones they had in their career this one is just the best for me, mainly because despite her of her injury, she was able to skate magnificently, so brave and courageous. . they truly deserved the Gold medal at vancouver this year. this has got to be the most passionate interpretation of this music ever. Very surprising considering the normally chaste and subdued character of traditional Chinese culture. I am so amazed by them and I really really hope they win the gold next year in Vancouver
Truly the only skaters I can think of (perhaps maybe Kwan if she had had a more dynamically choreographed program) who can give Puccini's Turondot the justice it so richly deserves. They basically skated to, arguably, the most emotionally devastating and souring pieces of opera in history, and they did it as though it were written for them. THAT, right there, is a feat beyond a world championship!
I'm so happy they are coming back. It's gonna level up the pairs competitions cause since they are gone as well as bereshnaya and sikharulize i'm a bit bored by what pairs are offering.
God, they're synchronized perfectly, her extension is fantastic, they're creative, HIS extension is fantastic too. One of the best pairs programs ever. Absolutely fantastic.

I saw this performance live at the Worlds in Washington DC and I remember that they completely brought the house down. It was ABSOLUTELY breath-taking and emotional, especially having watched them struggle through practice with her injury. Simply amazing and a performance to go down in history.

Commentators would disagree, G&G are said to be the best pair ever, no one will ever match that, that is just fact! SZ might be good but they will never be as great as G&G were.
I was there and witnessed their performance first hand--the crowd was on its feet cheering even long before the program's end!! Without a doubt, the greatest pairs' performanc ever!!!
This is the performance that cemented them as my favorite pairs team (they still are today!) I gave a standing ovation in my living room, I was so moved ^_^

even during their injuries, i don't think they ever missed a throw. they've missed spins in their early days, but the throws were always spot on in competition.

This is the performance that cemented them as my favorite pairs team (they still are today!) I gave a standing ovation in my living room, I was so moved ^_^

Besides the throw jumps, i really like the ending of their program. The passion they had...just like what Kwan always has.

even during their injuries, i don't think they ever missed a throw. they've missed spins in their early days, but the throws were always spot on in competition.
