  • Go Foxy!

  • HAHAHA. These people are getting over excited about one car that has been designed and built in Brazil. Even though they only made it for about 3 years or so. Its not a very good one at that hence the reason VW didnt want to make it anymore because they didnt want to put thier name to it. I believe it was poor build quality and shabby materials caused it to have a premature end of production. Dont believe me ? Google it !

  • the 2003-present Volkswagen Fox/ Volkswagen Lupo (2005-2009 Mexico) is assembled in

São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo (European version)

São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, Brazil (Latin America)

  • They still make the fox? I guess they no longer sell in the US.

  • Comment removed

  • ive got one of those do you think i could have that one for spears

  • 0:01 the driver wanted to change the line, to dodge the wall. that's why the blinker was on

  • @Lightwader3338 lol the dummy was like fuck this im changing direction try to turn but oh no he has no arms

    BANG

    shit not again!!

  • @voiceofreason2008 Ha ha ha. Very funny.

  • Not bad...

  • Looks pretty good compared to some of the crash tests I've seen lately.

  • That's not funny!!

I was in that cab, and spill my coffee!!!

    Dammit!

  • not safe if u ever seen the picture of one that went head on into a semi

  • didnt seem to bad. airbags deployed on time and the structure seemed to hold together well. Though they do not sell those here in the United States...

  • Wow that looks really good for such a small car.

  • Designed and manufactured in Brazil.

  • @Renwysocki

but in Brazil, VW Fox doesn't have Air-Bag... just in top versions... Sorry for my bad english...

  • @Renwysocki So German engeeniers doesnt have anything to do with this at all?

Just wondering why the metal was importet to Brazil and all the engine parts with Audi on was also send to Brazil?

  • You are misinformed.

Fox was developed by Brazilians, with our Brazilian technology.

The EA-111 engine 1.0 1.4 and 1.6 was developed by Brazilian engineers and manufactured in Brazil is exported to Germany.

    German are just salespeople.

I have a VW Parati, a station wagon with 1.0 16v engine with 76 hp, the 1.0 is the world's most powerful automotive.

  • It's the best car I ever had, and here in Brazil at least we run it with ethanol, so far, only oil and filters, almost 100k KM.

  • You should only own 1 car in a lifetime, make it a Vw Fox.

  • I had this kind of crash with my mom :/

  • Let me guess, your mom was driving ?

  • LMAO!

  • Here in America in the 70s there was the Audi Fox that was more like a 2 door sedan. In the late 80s into the early 90s the same sedan type body brought us the Volkswagen Fox. I sold them at a VW dealer for a few years. They came from Mexico shipped up through the Gulf of Mexico.

I guess this hatchback or liftback is what the Fox model has become now.

I loved the sedan Fox of the 90s.

  • i like to see volks crash test

  • Reassuring video, this! I own a Fox 1.2 base model.

  • mine's urban fox, black

  • I agree these cars are made out of good material as I had one with a small crash with a nissan micra and his front bonnet was smashed in and my fox just had a crack in the no. plate

  • thats cos foxs r made of wat seems like steel....

  • Nice crash test, surprisingly good behaviour for such a small car.

  • me four . mine's yellow

  • if this test is by euro ncap then its at 40mph

it changed to 40 in 2003 where they made the tests more difficult

  • that looks faster than 40 mph

  • I like how the VW sighn still intact.

  • its kind of odd to view this, because that is the car that i have

  • me too!

  • Me three, mine's red :)

  • mine's grey... red must be so cool...

  • What was the speed on the moment of impact?

  • If it was full speed (40mph ora 64km/h) crash test it was amazing! If it was 30mph it is still good result.

  • owch /:-(

  • Does anyone have the link to the crash test of a 1991-ish American VW Fox? My Dad has one and I want to see how well it does.

  • afaik the Fox is the new Lupo which is only areound since a few years.

    Do you mean a Polo?

  • No. In America, the Fox was only made from 1987-1993. Besides, the U.S.spec Fox wasn't available as a hatchback. I'll try for a 1991 VW Jetta crash test. After all, they're almost the same car.

  • the FOX in North America was equaly as the VW VOYAGE from Brazil. And he was made in Brazil.

The new FOX by VW is for one more time made only in Brazil and exported with some slight diferences from the brazilian internal version.

    We have the Crossfox too!

  • NO!! The Fox has the engine going the other way, out toward the grill like a rear-wheel drive car or an audi.

I have 3 Jettas and a couple Rabbits, nothing like a fox at all.

Look for an Audi demo, they have a similar drivetrain, but since they are a heavier car it won't relate. The old Fox was Brazilian and isn't at all related to the rest of the VW line-up.

  • cute car but what speed was that going at? that did not look promising

  • 40 mph 64 kmh

  • At what speed? if its 30mph thats not good result.

  • not bad i would say !

  • isn't that bad

  • Good info.

  • Is a VW Fox/Lupo made in Brazil for export..Fox saling in Brazil is poor and decept finger..the price starting in 10900 euros for Fox 3p 1.0 8v basic (no abs, no air bag)..Cars saling in Brazil is poors and very, very spend.

  • That sounds like a bad deal. Bought one new last year in Belgium, a special edition Urban Fox 1.2, metallic paint (+ bumpers and mirrors in same color), 2 air bags, free MP3/CD player etc. for 8.400 euro. (9.400 - 1.000 in return for old car) Old car being a 1988 Renault 5.

So it might even be cheaper to buy one in Europe and ship it back to Brazil. :)

  • brazilian import taxes for automobile can represent till over 40% of the retail price...

  • Im sure is more like 70%.

  • @polyvox83 Take a trip to Denmark and try bying a Fox with 180% taxes if you want it with plates.

Prices of cars here are Ridiciolus!!

  • the car sounds lika a little puppy at the beginning when it crash..

  • LOOKED LIKE 5 STAR ¥¥¥¥¥

  • Nice! This car does excellent!

  • sugoi desu

  • It all looks nice and safe from the front but NCAP seems to forget the passeengers at rear.

Most of these small hatchback cars have rear seats about a foot from rear door so I wonder what happens to the passengers when you get hit like this to the rear. Wouldn't cost them any extra just to hit the all ready smashed car one more time from the rear no?

  • yeah but then it wouldnt be a fair test to hit an already front ended smashed car as it could alter the results than smashing a new one.

  • nice ... but u can die when u get out of the car from a hart atack !!! i prefer old cars like renaul maxi turbo or gtir s !

  • that's the export version... latin-american domestic market version is worse...

  • or better, it's depends how much you wanna pay....

  • no, man... latin-american versions didn't have even the same engines, the trim is different, and they have airbags and abs just as an option...

  • how you know that?

  • i'm currently living in brazil, and here there are only 4-cyl dual-fuel (gasoline/ethanol) engines, 1.0 and 1.6, offered as options in the fox range... for export there's a 3-cyl 1.2 gasoline-powered, a 4-cyl 1.4 gasoline powered and a 3-cyl 1.4 turbodiesel... the 1.4 gasoline powered is offered in brazil only in a dual fuel (gasoline/ethanol) version in the type 2 transporter, that is still made in brazil...

  • You also have the "CrossFox" in Brazil, dont you?

Too sad they dont offer that version in Germany.

  • the crossfox is based only in the latin-american market version...

  • very good.

  • hardly any damage

  • Fox? or Chevrolet Aveo? is the same!

  • The Fox and Chevvy Aveo are two completely different cars, the Fox was totally VW in house and the Aveo was designed by Korean Co. Daewoo

  • thank! its look like same! i know is a diferent car!

  • then dont make stupid comments

  • the camera is on the wrong side. hehe

  • but at what speed they made the crash test??

  • 64 km/h or 40 mph

  • is halt ein deutsches auto

  • why did the right turn signal come on?

  • lol. Its not a turn signal, its the hazard warning lights. I gues the vehicel got an automatic that turns it on in case of an accedent. Modern middel class cars got on in case of loosing stabiliy or hitting the breack hard. I gues the left light is destroyed (50% offset hit left site) and so the front is so its not opperation anymore.

  • it automatically turns on the hazard warning lights and the brakes as soon as the airbag pops open... but as the front left is completely destroyed i guess the left turn signal was shorted and as soon as the electronics tried to turn on the warning lights the fuse for the left turning signals got killed because of the shot (front lamp destroyed)

  • did okay... roof didnt support 100% but good for a small cheap car :D

  • wow wats it made of, titanium?

  • Wow, didn't think the fox was so safe...

  • Born in the USA! (x340)

  • ur mom born at yenks!

  • held up much better than the others

  • entao olha o crash do fusca

  • precisa agora do decepa dedo test

  • Tenho um vw fox 2008 1.0 completo. Coloquei rodas 17 e pneus 205/40 e molas fabrini esportivas. Agora só me faz falta o motor 1.6 :(

    nao presta

  • Concordo Plenamente!!!

  • obrigado

  • that is segure! =O

  • Has anyone seen the crash test of the new skoda fabia??

It's made of jam and sponge..

  • whiplash @ 29-35

  • The front end looks surprisingly like a Hyundai Getz at 45seconds(except the vw badge).

  • at least the turn signals work!

  • how fast was that?

  • 45 mph

  • not much damage done.

  • i'm assuming you mean to the crash test dummies, not the car. the front end is history

  • well, yes. but other vehicles going that fast would be completely totaled. so in a way, the front end AND the dummy.

  • me like ee. is it available in the us?

  • RIGHT!! they placed the battery on the right side because the test is on the left one.

    But on the road??

    Euroncap has failed!

  • It's not a German car...

  • Dear Fox fans , I had a 2006 Fox purchased it on April 06 , till now it traveled 55000 km it added alot to my company we acheived many goals that were imposible without thr Fox , I enjoyed driving in a new style , now Iam planning to add a new Fox to our company fleet

  • why was the right turn indicator on?

  • to remind them that the impact was on the left

  • the fox is actually a very good car. And even though its a cheap car, it has 4 star crash test rating.

  • i have this car and its amazing!!!

  • Beautiful car, it looks better than the grandma - yaris. (my opinion)

  • WTF that is a tyota yaris you moron

    !

  • That's a VW Fox you moron...

  • i looks like a yaris from canada!

  • right, that's the Toyota Yaris with a big V W on the front which you can clearly see.

  • Watta hell is a VW fox??? Never heard of it, though i feel home in the theme of cars... Is it exported to Hungary? Or its just a concept car? It awfully looks like a smaller Polo...

  • it's basically the new version of the VW Lupo

yup, it's really a Polo with a smaller rear

  • The fox is a replacement of the Lupo because they want to use a new technique for the Lupo. But the Fox is actually a small version of a VW Golf, you really have to check the space in this little car.

  • Most new cars activate either the brake lights or the emergency four-way flashers in the event of a collsion. Some cars (such as the BMW X5) go as far as flashing the headlights after a crash.

  • What if the battery is destroyed?

  • That is highly unlikely since in most German cars, the battery is in the trunk. However, if it was destroyed, they obviously would not work due he lack of a power source.

  • Good to know.

  • the fox sux

    lupo was gr8

  • Also, in a crash like that, wouldn't flashing the headlamps be futile, as they would be destroyed in the impact?

  • Why does the passenger airbag seem to not go out very far? His head barely even makes contact with it.

  • thats one of the safty features in all car crashes that and the horn normaly stays on too :))

  • lol the indicator turned on

  • I think that's because some countries require it to turn on in an accident. Boring safety reasons.

  • I don't think so. I reckon the indictor turned on because the dummie's arms wacked the indicator wand. Some cars (entire Renault fleet, VWs, Peugeots and others)haszards turn on if ABS and other stability nannies are activated.

  • New cars always turn on the indicator lights when the crash sensors detect an impact. Except for some chinese garbage perhaps :-D

  • WHY??????

To say, I've just had an accident, (duh) i'm gonna pull over now.

  • I'd want to know what the telemetry was on the dummies before buying that. It's good that the cage didn't compress, but there's so little to the engine compartment that it doesn't slow the car enough. Doubt you'd walk from that without major whiplash.

  • Rate of decelleration is the same for all cars in this type of accident. The load on the seatbelts is the same whether you are in a supermini or a truck. As long as the cabin isn't breached you will not suffer any more injuries as a result. Whiplash is something you get from being hit from behind when sitting stationary.

  • I am, of course, referring to all well-engineered cars and not those made by Daewoo or other Korean or Eskimo manufacturer.

  • Uh, eskimo?

  • the fox was designed and made in Brasil... so far for your german engineering marvel

  • Its too expensive to make in Germanyland you see.

  • Germanyland..... lol XD :-)

  • Whiplash can occur in front impacts always too. When occupents fly back after being thrust forward by the crash they arnt quite on their seat and so their elevated position can cause their neck and spine to bend over the head restraints(like what happsen in rear impacts) causing whiplash. Thats why active head restraints fire in front crashs. The Honda Legend in Euroncap tests has funny looking head restraints thats because the head reastaints are in the 'active' position.

  • Barf!!!! One can get whiplash from any sudden movement of the neck and/or spinal cord. Also, the larger the crumple-zone (providing the is no intrusion into the safety cell), the less the force of the safetybelts.

  • This is one safe car to drive. I like it and will write the cheque as soon as my coffee comes outta this damn machiene! HEY! lets test drive coffee machienes!

  • i luv the indicator light lol

  • GREAT.SUPPORT

  • fast fast fast crash and weeee the right signal light turns on

  • ???????????????

  • I assume that you're lost about what I said... see the car is going at 45 MPH and then crashes, suprisingly the right-turn signal turns on. Get it?

  • NO!!!

  • okay... nevermind then!

  • is it a good are a bad thing if the car barly crunches ._o

  • Bad. But small cars afford smaller crash zones so in this case it's good. Otherwise it would look like the Landwind afterwards...

  • in this case it is good.

alot of the energy ist transferred via the chassis, cause small card have a smaller crumple zone.

old small cars, didn't use the technique, bout transferreing the energy, thats why modern small cars are much safer than old small cars

  • that looked fairly quick but the a pillar didnt deform-impressive

  • cool :)
