making fun or disciminating someone over baldness is a sin in and of itself, that is a sin against another person so that is the first thing, LET ALONE if you make fun or hold baldness against one of Gods Prophets, that's a BIG HUGE NO NO. Judge not lest ye be judged , and these young adults or teens got judged for judging. It's a great lesson for anyone today who has some issues against bald people. Definately something to think about.
@xhemexx You can't really be serious! You actually think those children DESERVED to be torn to shreds? Just for making fun of someone? Do you not understand what a revolting person you sound like when you say that?
@Caeruleus000 You miss my point, first off those children were not so young to begin with, and second what they was not right in the Lords eyes apparently and so they got judged for it.
but CURSED by the holy prophet in the name of the lord
what a mighty power those prophets have to judge(weird how the rule of not judging doesn't apply to certain people) and cast curses on people who mock them....
It's assumption for one to then take the authority upon themselves to judge that Elisha was the result of their death. The Bible doesn't even mention if God responds in kind to what Elisha said and what transpired later on.
@j0hnnytamb0rine The word LADS in Hebrew is ''naar'' and it means YOUNG MEN and NOT children. This word was used in the Scripture but of course Satan will try and play dirty tricks so that people can hate God. Elisha was going to Bethel wich at the time needed correction the city became idolatrous. Everyone knew Elisha was a man of God specially Satan so would have tried anything to stop God's message been tought in the city. Those "young men" mocked not only Elisha but God's power. Holy spirit
@rencas yes but you are forgeting that the text says "katan naar". Katan when used with naar means young boys. If it just said "naar" you would be right.
I don't blame you though. It's hard to justify the murder of 42 innocent civilians just because Elisha's feelings were hurt. I'd want to start rewriting the text as well.
@j0hnnytamb0rine Oh Jonny, are you really right to be this angry at God? "katan naar" means "young men". This words were used also to describe other people in the Bible people like Isaac when he was 28years old. How is it you care for the lives of those who you know nothing about when you say"42 innocent" and don't for the life of other people within your reach? I tell you the truth God has done nothing to you but rather love you unconditionally
@rencas sorry, but biblical scholars disagree with you. You may be thinking of Katan Bane, or youngest son, but katan naar means young/youngest/small children. I'll go with the guys who have studied these texts for years and have a credible educational background as opposed to some random guy on the internet.
It surprises me, how 42 people dying horrific deaths doesn't concern you. Are you saying its okay to kill people if they make fun of you?
seems like such a pleasant guy. Hard to believe he's the same guy that cursed those children in the name of the lord for calling him baldy and then god sends the bears to maul and kill 42 of them.

@rencas Phew, thank goodness for that. I feel so much better now. Sending the bears to maul and rip to shreds those "young men" for calling Elisha Baldy makes so much more sense now. I just wasn't looking at it through the loving eyes of the lord. But thankyou for converting me with such simple straighforward normal, common sense thinking and explanation. And here was me thinking that huge chunks of the america were mentally in the dark ages. How wrong I clearly am. Again, heartfelt thanks.
@kalsolarUK In the Hebrew bible it's translated as "youths", it's not referring to little children. And yeah they lived by the Law of Moses in those times "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"
@kalsolarUK If I were a Prophet and cursed children in the name of God for making fun of me, and then afterward they were killed by roving dogs. One could then take the authority upon themselves to judge that I was the result of their death? That's reasonable? The Bible doesn't even mention if God responds in kind to what Elisha said and what happened later.

@kalsolarUK It was more than calling him baldy, they were disrespecting God, if it were just because they thought him being bald was funny God would have given them a rash, but they persisted in their mockery it is quite obvious by both their actions and God's reaction that these 42 youths were far more than "mischievous" they commited one of the worse sins in the Law, that is sinning with a "high hand" this is usually overt rebellion to God in the OT no amount of sacrifice could atone for it
@kalsolarUK you must still be thinking they were just little bitty helpless children... you tell me who lets their children go running around in huge packs in the wilderness. from what the bible says about it, it seems to be a gang.
And you will curse in the name of the Lord the kids who make fun of you? If you do, probably God will send a couple of bears to tear them to shreds...

@skdeerhunter "And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven."
