Lmao setting this up is easy as cake just enable it on the host machine by right clicking my computer and going to properties, click the remote tab (which requires a professional or business version in vista case) and type the IP which can be found by opening your network connections right click on your wireless connection, click status, then click the support tab. This is a nice video to showcase the functionality and preformance of this feature which is pretty damn impressive.

Maximum distance? Any distance... long as the PC is connected to the internet. In the video he's connected WIFI to a local router. If connected over GSM connection the response time is going to be a bit slower.
