Often, these are ignored by the person taking them. They don't get the same "high" and take more pills, more often. Try stepping up and accepting the blame where it really belongs...on yourself

I like laughing at idiot drug seekers it's fun I've heard some of the crazy things said when in drs office waiting room I imagine er is worse on that. Are er usauly pretty empty up here I've gone with others. When I go to er these days I'm usaly not conscious so yeah. Last time I did go for wrist issue my Orthpedic canceled after i had already gotten their to Orthpedic's office my wrist wasn't right so did go to er but had to be talked into it but that's just me.
aparently drug seekers love to waste time i sate in the waiting room for a wile and i was actully having a seizure and my blood pressure was 145 over 105 and my pulse was 167 and they let this person straight in the back and he not even in pain he was smiling really big I just want to slap him in the face

Some of us are in a gray area, and many of us STILL get treated like seekers even though we have legitimate pain issues (with documented evidence to support this). @beloved828 sometimes it's easy, sometimes its not. We try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, if you work in this specialty long enough, you become irreversibly jaded.
Its not uncommon for drs who havent heard of EDS to see a person with EDS as a drug seeker. Its even worse if the person with EDS lso suffers from POTS which is very common in EDS. If you are a dr please remember that although there are alot of people who are drug seekers, there may be times when one of those is genuine.
Alot of these symptoms are typical of someone with ehlers danlos syndrome. People with EDS have regular struggles with drs taking them seriously when they are admitted to ED
What I'm saying is I tried to treat these people in an office, not an ER. Really, it can't be done unless your office is dedicated to only chronic pain treatment. That way, everyone in the office is paying attention to the details that let you distinguish the druggies and the merchandisers from the legitimate patients who have no way other than opioids to treat their chronic pain. Not only should ERs not be doing this, but regular docs and clinics must beware as well...
As a ER physician, its unsafe to repeatedly issue pain medication to the same patient over and over. They need a MD closely supervising their use and get their pain under proper control. The ER is NOT the place to come time and time again for pain medication. Have an accident, have a new unknown pain, etc..yes, but to come and waste valuable resources of the Er is not productive for either the hospital and their patients that really need the time and assistance from staff, and the drug seeker.
OK! Real MD here. Worked all settings incl. ER. A local doc just got license suspended for overRx narcs to 100s of patients with chronic, severe pain. Pain pts. see me daily in my clinic. Some legit, some w/real pain but addicts as well, increasing narc use daily. Some just selling meds for money, and DEA is after them. Local kids buy narcs off street & then go to heroin when they find it's cheaper! Until I can tell real from fake: not risking my whole career for them! WE NEED A BETTER SYSTEM.

She even got my mom to prescribe her Tramadol while she was at the Pegasys Program in Westchester, NY, for her hepatitis.... Most countries rarely give out narcotics - even post operative. The United States is a narcotic happy health care system. I know of very few other countries that will give narcotic scripts in the ER on an outpatient status. There are doctors who specialize in pain management if the "routine" alternatives are ineffective.

Most countries rarely give out narcotics - even post operative. The United States is a narcotic happy health care system. I know of very few other countries that will give narcotic scripts in the ER on an outpatient status. There are doctors who specialize in pain management if the "routine" alternatives are ineffective.
Suppling seekers their "Fix" has put most hospitals on the verge of bankruptcy.

you people that don't enjoy these videos need to calm down, as you have no idea as to the extent of this type of problem. if you do actually have pain...this isn't meant for you. the video is meant to be enjoyed by those that have to deal with these fakers on a daily basis. ....and generally speaking...funny is funny. and this is america...freedom of speech...and u have the freedom to not watch these. if these people didn't come in...the sick people wouldn't have to wait so long

lol i hit 2 er's just this past week and they hit me up, even though i have a history of being on suboxone which the nurse practicioner saw and she still hookeds me up, bassically i use the fact that they just want to get rid of me

We do that very thing, but alternate providers still give the candy... hard to enforce unless we all play the same game. Thakn God for OBNDD reports to trck their narc. habits, we have that in OK, not sure about other states..

I hate these people that come to the ER and take up space and time and resources. I also feel that the clinics in the community perpetuate this mentality. Even patients who have insurance and have PCP are hypochondriacs and take up resources. MD's treat them so they don't get sued or have demanding patients. Just tell them no, go home and get a life. Bull shit.

the seizure is hilarious!!! i hate the idea that people misuse the hospitals like this while i'm afraid to even go to the er when things are bad just because i don't want a huge bill. the word "emergency" doesn't mean much of anything now.

Claim to be "allergic" to everything but Demerol, or that "other one that starts with a "D", "oh, Dilaudid, that's it--I'm not allergic to that with Phenergan!" Gotta love those "allergic to Tylenol, but not allergic to "vik-KOH-din" and "perk-KOH-sett" and "LORE-ih-TABS" (which all have acetaminophen)--gotta love those drug-seekers!

From an ER RN you hit the nail on th head! That was the best representation I have seen yet. The seizure is the best part. The only thing that would make it better is if she were to be saying in the midst of the seizure "Help! Help! I'm seizing!"
