@Myhopeisinhim I see the pattern of salvation through the Sabbath, and yet, it would not have to be if Adam and Eve did not sin.The sabbath would have still been established, Christ would not have come to die, and the Sabbath would have not been a Shadow at all. Shadows were only necessary AFTER sin was comitted, but just because it plays it new role, doesn't destroy the prior role.I'm a parent, and after I graduate from school I'll be a doctor,I can lose my licence, but I'll still be a parent.
The thing is though, the plan of salvation existed from before the foundation of the world. God knew and designed everything as such to reflect the plan. There was not one thing he did that didn't reflect our savior, including the sabbath.
Question...did God rest because it was the sabbath, or because his work was done?
@Myhopeisinhim I'm being very careful when I say this: I do not believe God impose the plan of salvation upon man prior to sin that would suggest they will sin before they sinned, which would mean that God made it so that they sin to die for sin. This is Mormonism. Rather, God made provision, in case we sin, keeping it an option to choose to sin or not.Now even if God knows we will sin, I don't believe God impose it upon us by giving us the Sabbath as a sign of "you're going to sin, but its ok.
@thesangster The evidence of this lies in the idea that the Sabbath will be kept in the New Earth as well. So if that is the case, does that mean we will sin again? I don't think so because the scripture says it will not happen again a second time.
Mormonism teaches that they had a big council and the spirit brothers(as mormons call them) lucifer and Jesus presented their plan of salvation to the Father. The Father found favor with Jesus plan, and lucifer was angry and jealous and created a rebellion. I'm not mormon by the way
Ellen White taught that the plan of salvation was created after the fall because it was not needed before. This is why they have trouble believing that shadows of Jesus existed before....
Great Controversy says: "The kingdom of grace was instituted immediately after the fall of man, when a plan was devised for the redemption of the guilty race"
There is ample teachings in the bible that show that God knew we'd fall before we fell, and that he knew right from then who would accept his plan for salvation and who wouldn't(Eph 1:4). It even tells us that Jesus was foreordained before the foundation of the world, before mankind even fell the plan was there.(1 Peter 1:20)
Even the first day of creation and everything in the law represent the plan of salvation. God said let there be light and there was light. He sent light into a dark world, and the light he sent into the dark world was Jesus. And when God completed his works, he ceased(rested) from them. This is a pattern we see throughout scriptures actually.
When Jesus completed his work of atonement, he sat down on the right hand of God, and when we come to Jesus, and he makes us complete, we sit down...
The bible tells us that the sabbath was given so that the people might remember that they were slaves in Egypt and that God(creator of heaven and earth) brought them out by his works...not theirs...thus the laying aside of their own works and remembering his.
It was also given so that the people might remember that it is the God of heaven and earth that sanctified them, set them apart for his use by what he did, and not what THEY did.
The sabbath, as was the rest of the law, was given on account of the peoples disobedience, to remind them that its the Lord himself who saves them by making them remember what happened in Egypt.
This also leads into the plan of salvation because it was teaching the people that they had to lay aside their own works and trust and remember the works of God. He is the only one who can complete you and set you free. This prepared us for the laying aside of our own works to accept the works of...
the Messiah, and be made whole. And by being made whole, we can rest because the work is done just as God rested when his work was complete, we enter into a never-ending rest because we're made complete in the eyes of God.
He wants us to lay aside our own works, our own attempts at trying to be made right with God, and lay them aside and accept Jesus work on the cross so that we might be made right with God. The sabbath leads to the cross and how we might be saved by laying aside our own works
and accepting Jesus work, and its only by doing that that we are finally made whole.
And in completeness there is rest<---that is what we learn with the sabbath..God rested, not because it was the seventh day but because his work was done. Jesus rested because his work of atonement was done. And we rest because Jesus makes us complete in the eyes of God and in completeness there is rest.
@Myhopeisinhim If what you're saying is true, when God creates the New Earth, and the New Jersusalem, are we going to sin again? Since He will establish another Sabbath for all to come and worship him weekly at that time also.
In the future he is also going to re-establish the festival that requires you to go up to Jerusalem to worship him once a year and if a nation doesn't go he will send them a plague.
The sabbath that will last for everlasting to everlasting is the sabbath that we have in Jesus. Its not the seventh day sabbath which is based on starting at the rising of the moon and the setting of the sun.
@Myhopeisinhim You stated:"The sabbath that will last for everlasting to everlasting is the sabbath that we have in Jesus. Its not the seventh day sabbath which is based on starting at the rising of the moon and the setting of the sun."
This view I see is a stretch, unless you can prove it. I am open to see how you're going to do this. Prove that this is not the weekly Sabbath that God said to "Remember".
@Myhopeisinhim Yes, that is one of their doctrines, and it is also one of their doctrines that God planned for them to fall that they Christ should come and die. I debated with them in my house about this for a while, and they couldn't back it up from scripture. Now, I never accused you of being a Mormon,so I was just pointing out that Mormons believe this as well. IN Great Controversy, notice it stated that it was "immediately after", not before or during. If Sabbath is a shadow, thats during.
It's quite amazing that many profess bible believing Christians still cannot tell the difference between the Sabbath of the Ten Commandments, and the yearly sabbath feast days. I think it is quite amazing. The devil is doing a very skillful job in hiding the truth about the Sabbath of the Ten Commandments from nominal Christians.
I have to agree, he has done a good job hiding the truth of the sabbath, even those that attempt to keep it, really aren't keeping it at all, and have not realized the truth meaning of the sabbath and what it spoke of. They just call it a memorial of creation.
@Myhopeisinhim Initially that is what it was until sin came into the picture, it also symbolizes redemption. So I do agree that it represents more than just creation, thus the importance of keeping it. Christ represents the Sabbath, thus the importance of keeping it.The error is when people believe that it represents more than creation falls into the fallacy that it doesn't represent creation, therefore,it doesn't matter which specific day anymore. Christ magnifies, not make void, and subjective.
I'm a Seventh-day Adventist and I only use the KJV.
Many of us do. Many of the statements made here are false. We do not accuse the Catholic church of worshiping the sun. God's faithful people are everywhere; but He will reveal to them the truth. Rev. 18: 8 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. KJV
Old "antychrist" Monroe talking lies about sect of 7th day adventists and how we supposted to have mass on Saturday only! Wrong, it`s Sunday like apostoles had
"...And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow;and continued his speech until midnight." Acts 20,6-7
many adventist are decieved by new bible versions, NIV,NKJV,NASB they are corrupts alexandrian catholic counterfiets of Authorized KJV wich is the perfect word of God. 2,000 ommisions in many versions because the antichrist bibles have the adjenda of destroying the absolute authority of bible to make everything relative, and accept opinions rather than truth. God said he would preserve his word not the messege but the literal
Jan Paulsen is not to be trusted. He got his education form the Tubingen University in Germany which is a hotbed of eucemenical beliefs. Why the SDA church ever apponted him is beyond me, because the SDA church is against all religions uniting. DO NOT trust the General Conference! Trust in Jesus! The 27 SDA beliefs are valid, but do not trust Jan Paulsen!
Well first, let's establish one thing: Wasn't Paul a Pharisee? Wasn't Mary Magdalene a prostitute? Wasn't Walter J. Veith a catholic, then an atheist evolution professor? I could mention so many more but Matthew 7:20 says "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." As far as religions, we shouldn't shield ourselves with them, I agree we should trust Jesus only, after all Jesus had no religion, he preached about love which is the most important fact.
Mary Magdalene was actually not a prostitute, she was actually a demoniac who had 7 evil spirits in her. It is a great misconception she was a prostitute, read the story for yourself about her, its as plain as day.
There's nothing wrong about Ecumenical. Ecumenical means worldwide. There is nothing wrong also where he got his education if ever that is true. Educated Paul in the New Testament studied in a well known school which operated by the Pharisee. But Paul used by God as example, preacher, theologian for the Jews and gentiles.
"There's nothing wrong about Ecumenical. Ecumenical means worldwide." Have you not read the three angels message? Do you not realize that all religions will unite right before the Sunday Law is passed???
Dr Luke in the New testament obtained his training in a secular school but become an eyewitness of Jesus and now we are preaching his writings.
Lastly, We believe that John Paulsen sent by Jesus as n ambassador on earth to prepare God's people to soon return of our Lord Jesus. We trust Jesus, and John Paulsen and the General Conference which God established on earth.
So, you bro digitalprise7 is put away your selfish and Pharisaic attitude. And Jesus will bless you.
Did Dr Luke already have an education from a Christian institution before he got one from a secular one? It just raises a red flag in my mind that the man already had a degree from an Adventist institution before going to the same institution that graduated who is now the current Pope. If I came across another church that taught as closely to the Bible as the SDA church does, I would go there. I choose a church based on what God says, not the other way around.
I'm hoping soon that the church will do more than talk about praying for people with a homosexual orientation in the church and actually start reaching out to them.
The bible tells us that the clearer the law becomes to us, the better we know the law, the more it becomes clear that we aren't obeying it.
Not the more we know the law the better we get at keeping it..The law reveals the sin in our life, it also strengthens the desire to sin..the law itself isn't bad, but the sinful nature is magnified due to it, so it leads to death not life.
We must come to Jesus and be hidden from this ministration of death, or you are still condemned.
Christ then makes us dead to this ministration of death, the written code, set in stone. And if you are dead to it, it can no longer condemn you.
This is why the bible says there is now therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
We are not under the old law which was blotted out against us, but we are under the law of Christ...we must take upon his yoke and learn of him, not the old law, but learn of him.
Col 2:14 does not say "We are not under the old law which was blotted out against us" as some would have reworked it to say.
Rather it says that Christ " cancelled out our certificate of DEBT ... having nailed it to the cross". Our debt was paid as demanded by the Law INSTEAD of abolishing the Law.
Rom 3:31 "Do we then make void the law of God by our faith? God forbid! In fact we ESTABLISH the Law of God"
Why don't we see bible text inviting them (gentiles) to come assemeble with the disciples on the first day of the week since....supposedly they were meeting then because of the resurrection? Paul and company should have said to the crowd..to come listen tomorrow when they had a bible study on the memorilal of the resurrection. I can tell you are indoctrinated by typical antinomian clergy.Remember that Satan influences most seminaries like he did 2000 years ago. See MATT 5:19 It is a con job
Myhope, I went to a SUNday church for years and know almost all of the 1st Day,anti sabbath arguments. The way I approach it is assume you are correct on your premise. Now if so, when did Paul receive this dramatic 4th commandment trashing revelation from JESUS? If he did , then how come none of the 4 gospel writers mention it in these passages>> Matt 12, Mark 2&3, Luke 6,13,14 and John 5,7 and 9 or in Acts 13:42-44,16:13,17:2 or 18:4. Paul didn't chase the gentiles away at those meetings
Paul taught the gentiles in 50 A.D. on the sabbath, more than 15 years after his Damascus road experience. Plenty of time for him to get the sabbath trashing, shadow/new covenant message from JESUS. Yet he does not invite the gentile group to learn or worship the day following the sabbath. He lets them wait a whole week to come again. Pretty dumb for a super apostle.
You will find that the sabbath trashing clergy are not even on the same page on the 4th commandment abrogation.
He preached to people who didn't believe. he reasoned with them, he persuaded him about Jesus. But, he never gave them the sabbath command. He taught Christ and him crucified and rebuked anyone who had a grace plus law attitude, see the book of Galatians.
The sabbath was typically the best day to preach to people as many were gathered in the synagogue. Make note that the synagogue wasn't a group of Jesus believers..They were jews and gentile proselytes, followers of the law, not Jesus.
The Sabbath after Sabbath Gospel worship services of Acts 13 were with "nearly the whole city" in gentile Antioch (according Acts 13 verse 14) in a context where the Jews were strongly opposed to the teaching according to the chapter.
So again you seem to be avoiding the details in the chapter that you are explaining.
Key to the new Covenant promise of Heb 8 is "I will write My Laws on their heart".
In Romans 2:11-13 God says "it is not the hearers of the Law that are just before God but the doers of the Law will be JustiFIED"
Romans 2 Paul argues that the "Works of the Law written on the heart" by the Holy Spirit (as we see in the New Covenenat of Heb 8) is what shows a person to be a born again Christian or not.
Hence Paul's argument in Rom 3:31 we "establish the Law".
that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified
----
You can see he taught that a man will not be justified by trying to keep the law, so you need to take the verse you gave in perspective.
The only way you'd be justified by keeping the law is if you kept the whole law without fault, because if you fail in one point you are a transgressor of the WHOLE law, and are a lawbreaker.
But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, "Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all these commands that are written in God's Book of the Law."
Consequently, it is clear that no one can ever be right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life."
Not to mention, if man could be justified through keeping the law, than Jesus has died in vain.
Jesus came to live the perfect life and fulfill the law, which is something no man has ever done. He fulfilled the requirements of the law, so that you could be made righteous through him, not yourself.
He paid your debt and now he frees us from the law that condemned you. Now you are under Christ and not under the law. You are covered in Jesus blood, the law doesn't see you alive anymore.
When doing Exegesis of a chapter -- you do not go to the next chapter and avoid the text you are exegeting altogether. Doin g such a thing is in fact eisegesis.
You make it appear that I am "suggesting" that we add Romans 2:13 to the Bible. I am not.
Rom 2:7-16 makes the case for "perseverance in doing good" Rom 2:7 and the future justification concept of Rom 2:13 "the doers of the Law WILL be justiFIED" where Justification in Romans 2 is "According to my Gospel" says Paul Rom 2:16.
Romans 3 addresses the issue of "works apart from faith" to make the case that we are justified by faith.
More than this - Romans 3 and Romans 5 deal with justification "past", that which takes place at the new birth.
Romans 2 and James 2 deal with Justification "future" - where as Christ said in Matt 7 the good tree will be seen by the fruit "by their fruits you shall know them". The New Birth "seen" in the life.
So Paul can say 1Cor 7:19 "but what matters is keeping the Commandments"
You are justified in the eyes of God once and for all the moment you believe. You are sealed with the Holy Spirit and seated in the heavenlies with Christ.
Any fruits produced are proof of that position, not the means of keeping the position. Don't forget the bible already tells us that a man can be saved even without works, as its by grace through faith.
Although i can imagine the tears on that day when they realize they didn't do all they could have for him, but they would still be saved.
Notice though the verse doesn't say by their fruits God knows them. God knows their hearts before any works are produced. This is why the new birth and justification happens immediately..and you are hidden with Christ and made dead to the law which condemns.
Dead to the law means the law no longer has any hold on you, nor can it condemn you any longer.
It's man that needs to see a persons works to know who they belong to, not God. God already knows your future.
John is right, if a man says they believe in Christ, then lives an ungodly life, no visible changes in them, not even after time, you'll know they are most likely not born again.
God works in our lives and disciplines those he loves, which results in change....don't mix this with old covenant laws the bible says was only a shadow.
So again, its proof for man, not proof for God. For man is justified in the eyes of God the moment they believe, even without works.
if righteousness could come by the law, then Christ need not have died. .
The law was never given to help you become righteous..it was to show you that you are guilty and to show you your need for Jesus.
To gain righteousness by the law one must follow it perfectly, which is why the bible says anyone who is under it is cursed because all have sinned; thus condemned to death by the law.
Jesus is the life, he rescues us, sinners, from sure condemnation because of his life, not ours.
1John 2:3-5 The one who says he knows Christ ought also to WALK as Christ Walked
Gal 1:6-10 only "one Gospel" in all of time.
Gal 3:7-8 "the Gospel was preached to Abraham".
Heb 8:10 the New Covenant of Jeremiah 31 brings the Law of God of Jeremiah 31 into the heart of the Saints under the ONE Gospel.
The argument was never that the Christian walk was "proof for God" it is proof in that Dan 7:22 future objective judgement with myriads and myriads attending.
MHIIH speaking of Matt 7 says "Notice though the verse doesn't say by their fruits God knows them. God knows their hearts before any works are produced."
True. God knows all - but as we see in Dan 7 the Ancient of Days sets up judgment with myriads and myriads in attendance and then "judgment is passed in favor of the saints" Dan 9:22 using the firm rule of Christ in Matt 7 and in Romans 2.
"By their fruits you shall know them". The walk of the saved is the walk of Christ.
Myhopeisinhim said "You are justified in the eyes of God once and for all the moment you believe. "
That is a good example of a statement we do Not find in scripture.
Here is one we DO find in scripture.
"I buffet my body and make it my slave lest after preaching the gospel to others I myself should be disqualified" 1Cor 9:27 which is one reason why Adventists reject the false teaching of OSAS.
Another is the lesson Christ teaches in Matt 18 end of chapter on "forgiveness revoked".
One must look at this verse, based on what other verses in the bible have taught.
For by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified.....another says, there is none good, save God.....another says, for by grace are ye saved through faith that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.
another teaches that If its by works, then its not by grace, if its by grace its not by works
There is no joint effort between the two in regards to salvation.
And yes you are justified, and made complete in Jesus
Col 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
1Cr 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Tts 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were SEALED with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
You are sealed when you believe, not when you perform works.
When one has the Holy Spirit then they are a child of God, sealed until the day of redemption. This person has received a new birth, and as they grow in Christ they will produce more fruits.
Now the fruits of the Spirit should not be confused with the works of the law...they are two different things:
Gal 5:22 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
These basically are the very character traits of Jesus Christ. We put on the yoke of Christ, we become more like him...We learn to be forgiving, loving, joyful, longsuffering.
The way we respond to real life situations shows people who we are. It doesn't make us who we are, but shows the change that has happened inside us.
It's not keeping the Spirit there, it shows the Spirit's there.
If someone claims they know Christ, but show not these fruits in their life, and continue to live an ungodly life, then it is OUR proof, not God's proof, that they most likely aren't telling the truth.
Because when one has truly come to Christ they are a new person, their former life has gone and they seek to become more like him.
It's not saving us or keeping us saved. For our righteousness is as filthy rags, and only God is good. Jesus is our only righteousness.
You are believing that the law is Keeping you in God's good graces without realizing that it is the very law that condemns you.
The law wasn't given to make you righteous in God's eyes, it was given for the very fact you are NOT righteous. It was given to show you that you are a lawbreaker in need of a Saviour.
Only God is good, only God could keep the law 100%, that is why Jesus came to fulfill the requirement of righteousness for you because you couldn't, all so you could be hidden in him.
"The law wasn't given to make you righteous in God's eyes, it was given for the very fact you are NOT righteous. It was given to show you that you are a lawbreaker in need of a Saviour."
4th commandment/sabbath trashing is about the most obvious religious con job/deception on EARTH. Just compare how 99% of the church use ACTS 20:7 and never teach about ACTS 13:42-44, 16:13, 17:2 and 18:4. The usual text used is Col 2:16,17 and by many who don't have a clue what they are talking about. If PAUL trashed the sabbath, why didn't he warn all of those gentiles in ACTS to stop hanging around the Jews and come worship with him on the SUNday/Lord's day? SATAN has the church sinning
There is no biblical order in the new covenant to worship on the sabbath..it does state that the previous covenant had divine regulations, and a santuary....but the new testament says we are in christ continually..we can worship him continually...
We are under the new covenant of Jesus blood, and are commanded to partake of the Lord's supper..but no where do we see the sabbath command repeated.
Rev 14:6-7 that is not a sabbath command....It does discuss worshiping the creator, but it doesn't give a day.
If you read Isaiah 65 which also discusses the new heaven and new earth, you will see it is not discussing when we're all in heaven because people still die, they'll also still have children
Heb 4 - is also not a sabbath command either..read verse 7
Jesus tells us that we can come to him and he will give us rest. If we believe we can enter into that rest today. God set again set again a certain day calling it today.
The disciples rested in God on a daily basis, it wasn't simply a one day a week thing. There is absolutely no sabbath command in the new testament.
The israelites, despite not believing God, entered the seventh day rest, but not the rest hebrews is talking about. It is a different rest, the one we receive in Christ.
The bible teaches the sabbath was a shadow of Jesus Christ:
Col 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:
Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ.
----
Mat 11:28-29 - Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Adventists base ALL doctrine "sola scriptura". They have no doctrine (no not one) based on Ellen White.
By contrast -- a review of the Mormon doctrines show that they do clearly argue that some doctrines are based on -- and proven by the sayings of Joseph Smith.
This not so subtle distinction is sometimes missed by reviewers.
Myhopeisinhim -- states "half their teachings come from Ellen White".
Actually all 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Adventist church are tested and proven by one means alone "sola scriptura".
No doctrine in the list of 28 is ever argued via "and this only comes from Ellen White ". In fact the entire evangelistic series of Bible studies given to all new believers relies on the Bible to PROVE each doctrine.
Like Arminian vs Calvinist you may differ -- but stil it is the Bible.
CloroKitten, Ok. 7th-day Adventist do not tell folks from the very beginning what exactlly they believe, teach & follow. They don't streight up tell people that Jesus is an Archangel or one of His titles, & that Sunday worship=the Mark of the Beast (or will lead to the mark of the beast). SDAs do get sensitive about Saturday Sabbath when Sunday Christians disagree w/them; yet at the same time SDAs are not being fully honest to tell Sunday Christians - all SDAs say it's a commandment as an excuse
There is truth to this, SDA never tell people much to start off with, including their denomination. Doug Batchelor is a prime candidate for this deceit.
So the name Seventh Day Adventist has Jesus 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
SDA is not a cult! Listen to what the president said about the Church and their Doctrines bcuz its ALL BIBLE based. Jesus is the Head of the SDA Church not Ellen G White.
@cmammlj the gentiles after resurrection had a church service on sunday, because the new covanant woship can be on any day. sabbath is saturday, sabbath is not a church service. but a command to rest on saturday. we dont worship sun god, pagan callenders have god for every day of the week, saturday for instance is the god saturn. if you keep one sabbath then you must keep the other sabbaths like feast of tabernacles, farm land rest the seventh year and so on. so old covenant laws, not gentiles
@1942nuclear The sabbath of Eden, which is part of the decalogue, has absolutely nothing to do with the sabbaths/feast days of the handwritings and ordinances. All these were fulfilled by Christ, and were kept in a sleeve on the outside of the Ark.
SDA is a Cult! They follow the writings of their false prophet Ellen G. White, who was hit in the head w/a rock & had a 3rd grade education.
SDA religion believes that Sunday worship=the Mark of the Beast or will lead to recieving the Mark of the Beast, b/c E.G. White said so in her false book 'The Great Controversy'. The book of Revelation in the bible does Not say anything remotely close to that; E.G. White lied!
SDAs Repent & turn to Jesus today (John 14:6 & Romans 10:9).
SDA folks don't talk about Jesus alot, their more Sabbath centered then Christ centered. Your SDA GC President is proof of that b/c there he is on a TV talk show & he's Not saying in his interview that people need to repent & give their lives to Jesus today; he's talking more about the SDA church then Jesus.
The only thing we can say that a certain group of believers is cult when we are close minded people and does have a limited knowledge of their belief.
Bias on website that tackles "White Lie" is in their reasoning only without any reference of how Adventist will argue for it.
Evidence is more reliable than accousing. Well, Jesus Christ in His time was accused of this and that without prior evidence that result to His death.
SDA theology : You cannot be saved unless you observe or 'keep' the Jewish Sabbath. ( whatever that means ) as they define it.. Works righteousness system that denies that Christ paid the price for your sins on the cross. E.G. White states He only paid a 'down payment' but the rest is up to you, and how well you perform the law. Door of Mercy? Ask an SDA , they won't be able to explain it to you, but the whole SDA sect stands on the doctrine. Ex SDA , now converted Lutheran Christian.
"Christ is the door to the fold of God. Through this door ALL His children from earliest times have found entrance" Pg 477 Desire of Ages. My prayers are with you, friend.
and one more thing about The Sabbath. Jesus went out to the fields to feed his disciples on the Sabbath and it was the Pharisees who criticized Him. Jesus set the example of Love. SDA's WILL rent out rooms at their church and so on as you said U9, because WE do not have a problem LOVING others. And if you heard the Advent message for yourself and it scared you, then ask yourself "am i scared because im NOT SAVED?"
Then Ellen White says "..perplexed and disappoined, yet did not renounce our faith.." and she said "..The mistake made in reckoning the profetic periods..." AND she said "..But they (the scholars and Mr. Miller) and the waiting people of God, (including herself cause she was waiting too) WERE IN COMMON ERROR on the question of time..."
Please stop. You are making yourselves look incredibly stupid. They DID use the bible and Ellen white DID admit to the error of the great disapointment, which i think you are talking about and i see that you know nothing about.
Please feel free to READ HER BOOK called "Life Sketches" and turn to page 54-58 the chapter titled "The Great Disappointment" and you will find that they investigated the book of Daniel and the Book of Ezra

It always amazes me when people criticize the church without the proper information...I know this is the devils work but it is hard for me to understand how ignorant some people can be.... If you knew anything about the SDA church you would know that they freely admit that William Miller had the dates wrong, and that after the Great Disappointment, they went back to their Bibles to discover where they were in error... A true church will ALWAYS do this... So before you speak, Educate yourself.
@juttakarin adventist accuse christians worship sun god, we dont. christian were around way be fore the CATHOLIC CHURCH, and every day of the week is named by pagan gods like saturday even is saturn. we are not guilty by association of sunday. resserection and after bible shows people worshiping on a sunday, you can worship evey day. and only rest on saturday. the command was for your good and not meaning a church service.
@1942nuclear the point they make is, the reason Rome c hanged the day is so Christians and pagan sun worshiper's could come together and worship, thus uniting the people of their society. No people from sunday keeping churches rest on saturday, or keep sunday as if it was the sabbath. Yes we worship God everyday, but there is only one day he blessed, hallowed, and sanctified so that we could take a break from everything worldly, and spend a whole day with our creator.
SDA acknowledges roots to William Miller, a provable false prophet. SDA'ers are far less interested in Shabbat than in perpetuating wacky Adventist beliefs. They will gladly break the solemnity of Shabbat to rent conference rooms and meeting halls, thereby forcing others to work as servants to feed them and pick up their trash. During these weekend sessions, they attempt to frighten gullible strangers into believing their end-time lies. (As in the days of Noah...)

The sabbath shares the pattern of salvation, its a shadow. If you don't think so, I'd be happy to share what makes it so.
Myhopeisinhim 8 months ago
@Myhopeisinhim I see the pattern of salvation through the Sabbath, and yet, it would not have to be if Adam and Eve did not sin.The sabbath would have still been established, Christ would not have come to die, and the Sabbath would have not been a Shadow at all. Shadows were only necessary AFTER sin was comitted, but just because it plays it new role, doesn't destroy the prior role.I'm a parent, and after I graduate from school I'll be a doctor,I can lose my licence, but I'll still be a parent.
thesangster 8 months ago 4
@thesangster
The thing is though, the plan of salvation existed from before the foundation of the world. God knew and designed everything as such to reflect the plan. There was not one thing he did that didn't reflect our savior, including the sabbath.
Question...did God rest because it was the sabbath, or because his work was done?
Myhopeisinhim 8 months ago
@Myhopeisinhim I'm being very careful when I say this: I do not believe God impose the plan of salvation upon man prior to sin that would suggest they will sin before they sinned, which would mean that God made it so that they sin to die for sin. This is Mormonism. Rather, God made provision, in case we sin, keeping it an option to choose to sin or not.Now even if God knows we will sin, I don't believe God impose it upon us by giving us the Sabbath as a sign of "you're going to sin, but its ok.
thesangster 8 months ago 2
@thesangster The evidence of this lies in the idea that the Sabbath will be kept in the New Earth as well. So if that is the case, does that mean we will sin again? I don't think so because the scripture says it will not happen again a second time.
thesangster 8 months ago 2
@thesangster
Myhopeisinhim 8 months ago
Great Controversy says: "The kingdom of grace was instituted immediately after the fall of man, when a plan was devised for the redemption of the guilty race"
There is ample teachings in the bible that show that God knew we'd fall before we fell, and that he knew right from then who would accept his plan for salvation and who wouldn't(Eph 1:4). It even tells us that Jesus was foreordained before the foundation of the world, before mankind even fell the plan was there.(1 Peter 1:20)
Myhopeisinhim 8 months ago
Even the first day of creation and everything in the law represent the plan of salvation. God said let there be light and there was light. He sent light into a dark world, and the light he sent into the dark world was Jesus. And when God completed his works, he ceased(rested) from them. This is a pattern we see throughout scriptures actually.
When Jesus completed his work of atonement, he sat down on the right hand of God, and when we come to Jesus, and he makes us complete, we sit down...

with him in heavenly places, and find rest.
Myhopeisinhim 8 months ago

And in completeness there is rest<---that is what we learn with the sabbath..God rested, not because it was the seventh day but because his work was done. If Sabbath is a shadow, thats during.
thesangster 8 months ago 2
It's quite amazing that many profess bible believing Christians still cannot tell the difference between the Sabbath of the Ten Commandments, and the yearly sabbath feast days. I think it is quite amazing. The devil is doing a very skillful job in hiding the truth about the Sabbath of the Ten Commandments from nominal Christians.
thesangster 9 months ago
@thesangster
I have to agree, he has done a good job hiding the truth of the sabbath, even those that attempt to keep it, really aren't keeping it at all, and have not realized the truth meaning of the sabbath and what it spoke of. They just call it a memorial of creation.
Myhopeisinhim 8 months ago
@Myhopeisinhim Initially that is what it was until sin came into the picture, it also symbolizes redemption. So I do agree that it represents more than just creation, thus the importance of keeping it. Christ represents the Sabbath, thus the importance of keeping it.The error is when people believe that it represents more than creation falls into the fallacy that it doesn't represent creation, therefore,it doesn't matter which specific day anymore. Christ magnifies, not make void, and subjective.

There is a lot to be said for actually "looking" at the text you are explaining. Romans 2.
"7 to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life;
8 but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.
"
Yes Salvation is the topic!
"13 for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified.
"
CervantHrt 2 years ago
The bible tells us that the clearer the law becomes to us, the better we know the law, the more it becomes clear that we aren't obeying it.
Not the more we know the law the better we get at keeping it..The law reveals the sin in our life, it also strengthens the desire to sin..the law itself isn't bad, but the sinful nature is magnified due to it, so it leads to death not life.
We must come to Jesus and be hidden from this ministration of death, or you are still condemned.
Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago
Christ then makes us dead to this ministration of death, the written code, set in stone. And if you are dead to it, it can no longer condemn you.
This is why the bible says there is now therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
We are not under the old law which was blotted out against us, but we are under the law of Christ...we must take upon his yoke and learn of him, not the old law, but learn of him.
Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago
Col 2:14 does not say "We are not under the old law which was blotted out against us" as some would have reworked it to say.
Rather it says that Christ " cancelled out our certificate of DEBT ... having nailed it to the cross". Our debt was paid as demanded by the Law INSTEAD of abolishing the Law.
Rom 3:31 "Do we then make void the law of God by our faith? God forbid! In fact we ESTABLISH the Law of God"
Instructive contrast there

MHIIH argues that we are doomed to slavery to rebellion against God's Law.
Paul says in Rom 2:7-13 that those who live in rebelion are not saved.
Paul says in 1Cor 6:8-11 "Do not be deceived neither fornicators nor idolaters nor... shall enter the kingdom of heaven".
Paul says in Romans 6 by that which you are over come - to that you are a slave. That is where he argues that we are not to be slaves to sinning.

Why don't we see bible text inviting them (gentiles) to come assemeble with the disciples on the first day of the week since....supposedly they were meeting then because of the resurrection? Now if so, when did Paul receive this dramatic 4th commandment trashing revelation from JESUS? If he did , then how come none of the 4 gospel writers mention it in these passages>> Matt 12, Mark 2&3, Luke 6,13,14 and John 5,7 and 9 or in Acts 13:42-44,16:13,17:2 or 18:4.

For romans 2:11-13 you must take it in perspective of the following verses:
Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin.
Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ,

that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified
----
You can see he taught that a man will not be justified by trying to keep the law, so you need to take the verse you gave in perspective.
The only way you'd be justified by keeping the law is if you kept the whole law without fault, because if you fail in one point you are a transgressor of the WHOLE law, and are a lawbreaker.

The bible does teach that all those who are under the law are under a curse.
Gal 3:10-11
But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, "Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all these commands that are written in God's Book of the Law."
Consequently, it is clear that no one can ever be right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life."

Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago

CervantHrt 2 years ago
Romans 3 addresses the issue of "works apart from faith" to make the case that we are justified by faith.
More than this - Romans 3 and Romans 5 deal with justification "past", that which takes place at the new birth.
Romans 2 and James 2 deal with Justification "future" - where as Christ said in Matt 7 the good tree will be seen by the fruit "by their fruits you shall know them". The New Birth "seen" in the life.
So Paul can say 1Cor 7:19 "but what matters is keeping the Commandments"
CervantHrt 2 years ago
Curious....
If it could have been simply done by faith in God plus the works of the law, then why did Jesus have to die?
Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago
Jesus died so we can be forgiven of sins
Jesus died so we can be born again.
Jesus died so that we can "by faith put to death the deeds of the flesh" Romans 8.
John says "The one who says who says he knows Christ but does not walk as Christ walked - is not telling the truth" 1John 2:3-5.
Was John right or wrong in your view?
CervantHrt 2 years ago
You are justified in the eyes of God once and for all the moment you believe. You are sealed with the Holy Spirit and seated in the heavenlies with Christ.
Any fruits produced are proof of that position, not the means of keeping the position. Don't forget the bible already tells us that a man can be saved even without works, as its by grace through faith.
Although i can imagine the tears on that day when they realize they didn't do all they could have for him, but they would still be saved.
Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago
Notice though the verse doesn't say by their fruits God knows them. God knows their hearts before any works are produced. This is why the new birth and justification happens immediately..and you are hidden with Christ and made dead to the law which condemns.
Dead to the law means the law no longer has any hold on you, nor can it condemn you any longer.
It's man that needs to see a persons works to know who they belong to, not God. God already knows your future.
Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago

Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago

We come to Christ by faith alone - having been saved we are BORN AGAIN "all things become new" we walk by faith so Rom 2:13 is true after all.

CervantHrt 2 years ago

CervantHrt 2 years ago
One must look at this verse, based on what other verses in the bible have taught.
For by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified.....another says, there is none good, save God.....another says, for by grace are ye saved through faith that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.
another teaches that If its by works, then its not by grace, if its by grace its not by works
There is no joint effort between the two in regards to salvation.

Only by grace thru faith.

SATAN has the church sinning
gettalifenow 2 years ago
There is no biblical order in the new covenant to worship on the sabbath..it does state that the previous covenant had divine regulations, and a santuary....but the new testament says we are in christ continually..we can worship him continually...
We are under the new covenant of Jesus blood, and are commanded to partake of the Lord's supper..but no where do we see the sabbath command repeated.
Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago
Rev 14:6-7 quotes the forth commandment and also repeats the command to "Worship".
Isaiah 66 says that in the New Earth "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all mankind come before Me to Worship".
Rev 21:1-3 tells us when the New Earth event takes place.
Heb 4 tells us "there REMAINS therefore a Sabbath rest for the peopel of God".
1 Cor 7:19 tells us that it is not the ceremonial law that matters "but what matters is keeping the commandments of God"
CervantHrt 2 years ago
Rev 14:6-7 that is not a sabbath command....It does discuss worshiping the creator, but it doesn't give a day.
If you read Isaiah 65 which also discusses the new heaven and new earth, you will see it is not discussing when we're all in heaven because people still die, they'll also still have children
Heb 4 - is also not a sabbath command either..read verse 7
more in next post....

Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago
The bible teaches the sabbath was a shadow of Jesus Christ:
Col 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:
Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ.
----
Mat 11:28-29 - Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago
Col 2:16-17 makes no reference at all to the memorial Sabbath of the 10 commandments. It speaks only of the shadow "annual" sabbaths of Lev 23.
Mark 2:27 "The Sabbath was made for MANKIND" showing that it applies to all.
Acts 13 we have "Sabbath after Sabbath" worship services for both Jews and Gentiles.
Matt 5 Christ states clearly that His mission was not to abolish the Law of God.
All good news.

I'm afraid i have to disagree cervant...half of their teachings come from Ellen White and are not directly based in the bible.
For the bible says the sabbath is a shadow..they say the sabbath isn't a shadow.
I'd love to believe it was all biblical based, but I just don't see it I'm afraid.
Myhopeisinhim 2 years ago
Myhopeisinhim -- states "half their teachings come from Ellen White".
Actually all 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Adventist church are tested and proven by one means alone "sola scriptura".
No doctrine in the list of 28 is ever argued via "and this only comes from Ellen White ". In fact the entire evangelistic series of Bible studies given to all new believers relies on the Bible to PROVE each doctrine.
Like Arminian vs Calvinist you may differ -- but stil it is the Bible.

Adventists believe Jesus is "God the Son" not a created angel.
Adventists also believe that God "appeared" to Abraham in Gen 18 as a man - just as God the Son "appeared" in Dan 10 as an Archangel.
But in the case of Christ -- God the Son was "incarnated" very different from simply "appearing" in some form.

r12125, SDAs go by Ellen G. White - their late false prophetess' writings. She's the one that wrote:
*Jesus is Archangel Michael
*Sunday worship = Mark of the Beast, Or, will be the Mark of the Beast
*Jesus entered the Holy of holies in 1844
*Satan bears our sins
*The Sabbath is God's seal [Not God the Holy Spirit].
*No eternal hell torment [this leads to an open door of sinning w/out repentance].
Repent & turn to Jesus & the bible only. Peace - Jn14:6, Acts4:12 & Rm10:9.

SDAs do get sensitive about Saturday Sabbath when Sunday Christians disagree w/them; yet at the same time SDAs are not being fully honest to tell Sunday Christians - all SDAs say it's a commandment as an excuse
cmammlj 3 years ago
There is truth to this, SDA never tell people much to start off with, including their denomination. Doug Batchelor is a prime candidate for this deceit.

Look, the SDA Prez explains the name of the church.
1) 7th-day = The Sabbath
2) Jesus' 2nd coming
What's wrong w/this name Non-SDAers?
Here's the problem:
Jesus is put Second & the Sabbath is put First!!
cmammlj 3 years ago 3
Who is Lord of the Sabbath?
Jesus
Who do we Worship on Sabbath?
Jesus
What day did Jesus go to Church?
Seventh Day
Who do Adventist look forward to come?
Jesus

White lied!

CloroxKitten, The SDA church is a cult.
Repent & give your life to Jesus today!

Well, how to be repent and give your life to Jesus today?
To repent means you have knowledge on your sin. What is the bases on repentance? the Bible.
What the bible teach? Jesus Christ obey 10 commandments and prove as basis for repenting.
Adventist and Jesus has a common. Jewish Sabbath, Food, 10 Commandments and Social Welfare.
Then you? calling ourselves Christians but Christ can not be found in ourselves.

Lastly, Satan also uses Bible Verses.

Ex SDA , now converted Lutheran Christian.

and one more thing about The Sabbath. Jesus went out to the fields to feed his disciples on the Sabbath and it was the Pharisees who criticized Him. Jesus set the example of Love. SDA's WILL rent out rooms at their church and so on as you said U9, because WE do not have a problem LOVING others. And if you heard the Advent message for yourself and it scared you, then ask yourself "am i scared because im NOT SAVED?"

dear a7n7 and a92003,
Please stop.

No, they did not go back to the Bible. They made up the Investigative Judgement to cover their error. Which led to inventing other non-biblical doctrines, such as their being no hell. It's all based on pride. Miller admitted his error, Ellen White would not.

1942nuclear 1 year ago
@1942nuclear the point they make is, the reason Rome c hanged the day is so Christians and pagan sun worshiper's could come together and worship, thus uniting the people of their society. No people from sunday keeping churches rest on saturday, or keep sunday as if it was the sabbath. Yes we worship God everyday, but there is only one day he blessed, hallowed, and sanctified so that we could take a break from everything worldly, and spend a whole day with our creator.
cornerstone111 1 year ago
SDA acknowledges roots to William Miller, a provable false prophet. SDA'ers are far less interested in Shabbat than in perpetuating wacky Adventist beliefs. They will gladly break the solemnity of Shabbat to rent conference rooms and meeting halls, thereby forcing others to work as servants to feed them and pick up their trash. During these weekend sessions, they attempt to frighten gullible strangers into believing their end-time lies. (As in the days of Noah...)
