The way it happens in call of duty is very fake. You can NOT blow up a car by shooting it. The only explosion there will be is the amount of explosive you put in.

Real explosive devices cant fit 5 gallons of gasoline and black powder so they use a high explosives, shaped charges, and fragmentation to get the work done. A hand grenade will generally make an explosion so small and quick that you only see smoke and dust kicked up everywhere. An AT-4 launch makes a much larger visible explosion than the impact. Make no mistake, these things are terrifying on both ends IRL.
