The ending in the US version is basically the prelude to this. Ippatsuman is inspired by the Street Fighters and Batsu, and so trains himself even harder so he doesn't have to depend on his suit as much.

As seen here, he's gotten to the point where he can split a boulder with his bare hands, and so feels that he's ready to take up the fight again.
