Just wanted to drop in again to remind everyone how badly Metallica sucks ass. 90 million albums lol. 90 million in 5 albums. The last 4 sold about 10 copies each. I love Nirvana (if I had to name my favourite genre, it'd be Grunge - AIC, PJ and Soundgarden I like a lot more than Nirvana tho) but Grohl I think is quite overrated as a musician nowadays. He's a great drummer, but composing-wise... I can see why he said something along the lines of him being intimidated by Cobain when it came to song-writing.

Axl Rose is a composing GENIUS. The brilliant structure of masterpieces like "Estranged" (off of Use Your Illusion II - it's not even on their Greatest Hits) reminds me of the progressive structure of songs like Stairway to Heaven. Even based on lyrical poetry, Rose's lyrics are much more powerful.

Even without his brilliantly original songwriting, the man's sheer talent and musical diversity make him a genius. Slash's music just isn't unique enough, to put it briefly he's the poor man's Hendrix. And Axl Rose can be summed up in an equation: Shitty poetry + Lennon's beard + Mercury's shorts + Videos that cost more than Africa = petulant wannabe.

Metallica sucks so hard. It's perplexing how those sellouts retain so many fans after 15 years of complete and utter garbage. Even the old "good" stuff is totally dated. It has not withstood the test of time. Bands with more skilled musicians, like Pantera, relegated Metallica to the used music bin at your local store.

i just lost some respect for Dave Grohl. He clearly hasn't heard new Guns properly. I'll admit, heaps of people would have loved to have seen Slash still in there and it would have been the best. i just lost some respect for Dave Grohl. He clearly hasn't heard new Guns properly. I'll admit, heaps of people would have loved to have seen Slash still in there and it would have been the best. But these newer guys are fantastic together. As for the Metallica thing, they are the pioneers of heavy metal and thrash. Foo Fighters are awesome but they don't compare to how musically and technically skilled Guns and Metallica are.

Ahhh, both Nirvana and Foo Fighters can't hold a candle to the musicianship of GNR. That band had some of the best talent around and actually created songs that were musical instead of merely playing a chord for the sake of it. I will admit that Axl is a dick, but you can't deny his musical chops.

Cobain would have hated the Foo Fighters, the most commercial pop rock stadium band on the planet. HOWEVER - Nirvana are legendary for only 3 reasons:
1 Teen Spirit, perfect pop punk single that can be immediately enjoyed by anyone from age 3, and converted kids to rock music.
2 Too many poor hair bands, record companies needed something new to sell and the left wing music press fell in love with the reluctant pop star, pretty Kurt with his opinions and drug habit.
3 He died while still young
