Awesome movie, such an influential b-movie. The modern ones that are the closet to this one are The Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses, Vacancy and The Hostel Series.

I think so too but it's become this trendy thing for any card carrying horror fan to distance themselves from the movies you mentioned as if it makes them appear more 'underground', 'legit' or 'intellectual'. They almost always refer to those movies as torture porn and act like anything made after 1997 is uncool to appreciate.

And do you think Vacancy is the closet thing to a modern Motel Hell? afterall they are vicious movies about motels gone wrong.
