I dropped my iPod touch in the bath a while ago. It worked for about 10 seconds then it wouldn't let me press anything, then it turned fully off. Then I tried turning it on, but it came up with the apple logo then turned off again. I left it to dry and it works now :) got the iPhone for Xmas tho x ur a lucky dude!

any well made technology with proper protection circuitry should be fine after it dries. the short should shut it off and then just dry it out. the only exceptions are hard drives or physical/moving parts that can be damaged.

I once jumped right into the pool with my 3G in my pocket.

The thing still worked after soaking it in non-chlorine water for a day or two, then screwing it all apart, letting it dry and putting it all together.

I did however screw up one connector, so after a few months I had to send it in to Apple, whom happily replaced it with a new 3G, because the touchscreen wouldn't respond from time to time.

Still, it's amazing how much these things can take before finally dying.
