@avidamartin VR is take-off speed, V1 is the maximum speed an aborted take-off can be performed at. Any faster and they have to carry out the takeoff.
here we go! this is a better video of a 777 takeoff! nice work! I'll be honest ive been looking for a good 777 takeoff video all night. and this is the best one. 5* and A+ nice work!
nice I hope I get to fly on a 777 or a 767 when I go to Miami. well 767 if I fly to JFK 777 if I fly to DFW but if I go to DFW I have a better chance of flying on a 757.
its probably a repositioning flight, dallas and chicago are both major AA hubs, the 777 was probably just used to make some extra $ instead of flying it empty
I just booked my ORD-TUS roundtrip via DFW outbound to get on daily 777 flight. A nice treat from the regular MD-82 workhorse. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
@tolaviator Yep it's true! I just booked my AA flight from PHX to ORD with a connection in DFW to AA Flight 2350 which is a B777 service. I'll be in seat 34A!!
@tolaviator Yeah I know, but all swap out aircraft depending on how booked the flight is. Most airlines test out this kind of stuff on the weekends, along with messing with ticket prices.
Next day this same aircraft wil departure to NRT then back to LAX and two hours late, back to NTR then back to JFK and go's around the world. That is rotation for long - haul fleet.
That is a short flight for the 777 no doubt but it allows AA to move the 777 between hub cities. The flight number itself starts in DFW or LHR and ORD is a stopping point.
Wow, the amount of people flying between those cities must be large for American Airlines to fly a Boeing 777 daily!!! That is a large plane it is the 2nd largest to the Boeing 747!
Excellent vid! I agree with one of the comments. Very strange that AA would use a 777 jumbo jet for such a short flight from O'Hare to DFW. Perhaps they were repositioning that plane for a longer overseas flight. Been on 747's, 757's and 767's in my lifetime, but not a 777 yet. Seems like a very quiet running engine compared to the smaller 757's and 767's which are louder. Great job!
If you like this one, check out my newest ones. AA flies the 777 between ORD and DFW to reposition the aircraft. Most of the time this flight is full or oversold.
Woohoo, rolling take off! I absolutely love the whine of the engines when a 777 takes off! The RR engines have that distinct sound, kind of like a jackhammer.
i love when the engines spoil up like that and for some reason when it lifted off i felt like i wuz really there (between u and me for some reason i lifted my sholders like i wuz really taking off in a plane)
Hmm...I don't think this is a 777. I can tell because of the engine, the 777's engines are a little more compact and wide than the ones on the video. But then again, I wasn't on the flight so what do I know? XD
Trust me, this is a 777. If you look at the description of the video you will even see the registration number. AA has one daily 777 flight between ORD and DFW. This was it, I was on it and it was a 777.
It's a 777, even though the engines are smaller. AA uses RR Trent 800s on their 777s, which are only 110 inches in diameter and have a more distinct sound than the PW4000 or GE90. The PW4000s are 112 inches in diameter, while the GE90s are 123-128 inches.
I heard these beasts have a crazy amount of thrust. GE90 has about 115,000lbs of thrust. This Trent 892 here on this AA 777 has 92,000lbs of thrust however. Still REALLY powerful. I love these planes!
The GE-90-115B has 115,000 pounds of thrust. you can plug the engines anyway you want to get anywhere from around 74,000 pounds of thrust to 115,000 pounds on the GE-90. American claims the Trent 892s on their 777s produce 90,000 pounds of thrust each, not 92,000. frankly, that's still quite powerful. United uses the PW4090, also 90,000 pounds of thrust, and Continental uses the GE-90-90B, which produces 90,000 pounds of thrust. yes, it's very powerful...having ridden on two AA 777s I'd know.
@jetfreak4 GE 115 is too heavy and has too bigger fan drag. If AA specified the Trent at 92,000 Ibs, surely they would get that wouldn't they? Or is it that RR is lying, as I read one comment?
Have no idea what you are talking about with regards to the GE engine....it is not too heavy and does not have too big a fan drag, otherwise it wouldn't work. Each airline can specify its own performances with regards to aviation. Rolls Royce is lying with regards to the Trent 895 performance...it can only produce 93,400 pounds max. AA, however supposedly requested engine modifications to reduce the thrust to 90,000 pounds, which I think is made possible by the type of plug in the exhaust pipe.
Where do you get the 93,400 Ibs from? I read in a pilot's forum that the 115 doesn't perform as well as the 90. Undoubdetly because it has the extra payload to lug around.
Let's see...first off, I happen to know a British Airways mechanic who tells me these things, and second off, I know a guy who helped design the engine. We obviously are not in the same page as far as performance goes. I was talking about strictly the engine itself, not how the airplane responds to the thrust. AA reduces the 92,000 pounds of thrust in order to save fuel and increase the life of the engine. Thrust-to-weight ratio is not how engine performance is rated.
