@jermaineGT i guarantee that slime will never rust or corrode your tires. rust and corrosion inhibitors are the most costly ingredient in the product. i cant say the same for other aerosol products but that is why Slime works the best.
Wngnutt, I am sorry if this stuff is a PITA for you guys at Discount Tire. I can assure you being stuck on the side of the highway is a PITA too. I have Slime in my emergency kit because not all cars HAVE spare tires. Like modern Lamborghini's and Ferrari's. The tire and wheel size is staggered so you'd actually need two spares anyway.
If this get me home safely, or to a tire store safely where a proper repair can be done, then I am happy with it.
dont waste your time fixing a junk tire like that. if you have a flat just take it to your local Discount Tire store and they will fix it for free using a plug and patch. rope plugs tend to leak again down the road and the fix-a-flat liquid junk does nothing to fix the flat and just throws your wheel and tire out of balance and make a mess. just throw your spare on and let them fix it for good for you for FREE.
Forget this crap...get the aerosol can version of Fix-A Flat. It goes by many names but you do not need to remove the tire and it will in most cases get you to a safe place to have the tire fixed or replaced.
good point! these are great for bike tires and riding lawn mowers, wheelbarrows, it will RUIN --totally destroy--your TPMS in the new cars, each tire has a TPMS in newer model cars and each TPMS is $100 and up, it will also screw your TPMS computer up.
DO NOT USE on a car or truck made after 2006, also, if you take it to a tire shop to repair after putting this in they will NOT repair the tire, they will throw it out and your rim too.
@walinga5 Actually - most shops are not informed about the products available. I have had to use SLIME recently. It is non toxic, TPMS sensor friendly and CAN be plugged after being used. The tire shop merely needs to Wipe down the tire (on the inside of course), wash it with plain water, bore out the hole (as you would anyways) and insert the new plug.
If your TPMS sensor is TEMPORARILY plugged, simply rinse with water, blow air and voila.
I have used the product and will ALWAYS keep a bottle in my trunk. The damn spare that came with my car was wrong and did not fit my car. The only problem with any of these products is they DO throw your tire balance off.
Thats my 2c on the matter - goog luck with other types of sealants that use harsh chemicals.
@walinga5 I work at Discount Tire and we will fix a tire for the customer if it has that dumb shit in it. People, this stuff is a waste of your time and money and is just annoying for any service tech that fixes your tire for you. it doesn't stop it from leaking, makes a mess, and throws your wheel and tire out of balance. If you have take your tire off to fix it anyway just throw your spare on and have it fixed properly for free. save yourself the time and money.
