The more I study the subject the less I understood why many of the facilities were built in haphazard fashion, as if the perpetrators utterly lacked imagination. I recall being told by a surviving inmate of a gas chamber in the basement.

The more I study the subject the less I understood why many of the facilities were built in haphazard fashion, as if the perpetrators utterly lacked imagination. I recall being told by a surviving inmate of a gas chamber in the basement.
How efficient would it be to pull hundreds of highly toxic corpses UPWARDS through narrow staircase?
The only explanation I can think of is the designers tried so hard to psychologically distance themselves that they couldn't picture them actually being used.

The Nazis wanted camps for which it would be easy to remove the evidence of them having ever existed, after the Final Solution was carried out to completion. Certainly among the reasons why they were not built to last. Auschwitz, on the other hand, was a converted army barracks.

@Hypebusta My observation wasn't that it " wasn't built to last", but that it was built without efficiency in mind, something out of character for German engineers. If the place is to process a large number of humans FAST, certainly an engineer wouldn't built a mass execution chamber in the basement, down the narrow flight of stairs. Nor was sectioning the gas chamber a great idea- as it slows the process down.

It is a bit astounding that they would not design it with efficiency in mind. My theory is that they wanted to conceal the true nature of the facilities as much as possible, therefore place the gas chambers underground, hidden from view until the victims enter it. The victims are also a bit more trapped when it is underground.

So as far as i can tell, this is filmed at his home, where the interviewer clearly knocked him in the back of the head, placed a hidden camera, and when he woke up again, went on with the interview. Its the only angle i can think of to making this possible. You can even see him looking at the camera a couple of times. Hidden my ass.

No the camera is not being moved by remote control. Just saying. You can tell that by the way it moves. Perhaps they filmed this with a telephoto lens through a window, or maybe it is a hidden camera that someone in the room has mounted in a pair of glasses. Would be interesting to know.

Full load of crap... The facts: he says that 3000 people were gassed in 2hours, there were 2 gass chambers each with capacity of 200 people. Now do a little math. According to the facts above they had 16min to: get the 200 people to the chamber, gass all 200 to death WITH DIESEL ENGINE and remove the 200 dead from the chamber ALL THIS IN 16MIN.
