I dont like anime but I've always enjoyed this show, I like that film noir feel and the mystery. Of course at first I cringed at the giant robot but eh it's fairly important to the story.
Part of the reasin The Big O was so awsome was Roger: no young idiot angsty robot piolet was he. Roger Smith is James Bond, Bruce Wayne, and little Spike Spigel thrown in for good measure. In a word:cool.
If you're wondering why there's a bit of Spike Spigel, it's because he and Roger are voiced by the same person. On a side note, Roger = Coolest anime hero ever.
Some you may have seen was made in korea or china, but CN did have a hand in making some of season 2's episodes. Since it was only really popular here in the states.
i don't know. I just thought that the second season was too different, so I didn't like it. To me, the first season was perfect because it was slowly developing the characters while still keeping that undertone of sadness to everything.
Sweet. I haven't seen this in years, and it's good to have the most badass film noir mecha anime back. It also comes in handy for a one-shot Abridged Series-type thing I might be doing if I can get the equipment. ^^ Bit of curiosity on my part; you got any opinion of the change in overall tone during season 2?
Oh god!! The second season was too crazy. Too much fighting, too much weirdness, too many tomatoes. Plus, it wasn't as cool or sad. I really missed all that beautiful jazz. What a shame. The idea of the ending was good, it just wasn't well executed
I like it still. It seemed to follow little bit of the manga from what I saw. Especially the chapter "Big O vs. Big O" inspired the episode "The greatest villain".
is this the big o, or the big o II. i found a collectors set published by five star laser at the great escape (its a comic shop), and paid 15.99 for it, but it only says The Big O Collection, and doesn't specify whether this is the first season, the actualy beginning, or big o II. I see some dvd collections that say big o II on them, but i don't know what the difference is. could someone help?
This is the first episode. So you have the first season--the Big O II collection is the second season. Of course, you could go on the web and get the new DVD edition for $500!
Love some of the classical music in this show. Been awhile since i watched it because it was always on early in the morning (like 2 am or something) when on tv so i am going to watch through the episodes :)
What big ear says about saving the maiden is almost the same thing he says in the last episode.

The "real" Dorothy was the Dorothy-1, the megadeus that Beck stole from Soldano.
CypressDahlia 3 years ago
I dont think its ever discussed in the series. As to what happened to the real Dorothy Soldono who R. Dorothy is designed to look like.

Anyone who pretends the series made any sense is an elitest twat. The whole second half is gibberish. Theres no point in analyzing anything.

Was this show a product of the U.S.A., or of Japan? Of Cartoon Network? I need some details on this history.

The Big O is a Japanese made show but, I believe, was more popular in the USA then in Japan proper.

GOD that's awful. Why are they still making kiddie badly animated and really badly written drek like this?
Why can't the japanese cartoons just tell a good STORY? Awful.

No argue there. He IS The coolest anime voice actor out there. I'll watch a terribly dubbed anime if he's in it.

But doesn't he look like Gordon Freeman?

YES, he does look a lot like Gordon Freeman! I've never played Half-Life...wonder if he does his voice too? ^^
