  • MAGNUM-AWESOME-TRUE!

  • Never heard of this group and don't listen to 80's rock that much but I must say this intro is epic

  • how did Charlie Daniels get in there?

  • great band

  • There is no perfection alright!... But you have to admit, this is damn close ;)

  • Not usually something I'd listen to but this song never gets skipped on my ipod, and is quite often replayed!

  • Simply one of the greatest band of metal, but a wrong choice against the name of a pistol brand. The pistol brand is much much stronger for google search but who gıves a f.k. anyhow.

    Long live Magnum....

  • @novadikaya As it's obvious they thought in google when they create the band and put that name to it.

  • @prowlermagic32 I'm pretty sure Magnum was created quite a few years before google, or even intenet was invented.

  • @jojje888 lol

  • @jojje888 i'm trying to be ironic. I'm spanish maybe I didn't explain well

  • @prowlermagic32 Sorry about my misunderstanding. (And my English is not that good either considering my spelling of internet. :P )

  • @novadikaya and Justin Bieber is now a stronger for google search, than faggot.

  • @Smartuur

I don't think you quite understood what he meant

  • lets get one thing straight. as SOON as Dimmu Borgir found out their keyboard player stole music, they FIRED HIS ASS and havent used the piece since. Dimmu Borgir and Magnum are both great bands. different times, different style. But at least we can all agree that Metal will never die.

  • How the f*** can anyone be so stupid to think that Dimmu Borgir did this when DM were not even born when this beautiful piece of music originally written by Magnum back in 1981. I´m always amazed how many ignorants this planet produces.

  • Comment removed

  • @golgatanian Their keyboardist was the one who plagiarized this piece (as in he was the one who wrote the notorious intro), and he was around when this song was written. The band had no knowledge he did this until they had recorded the album. He did the same thing with another song on the same album.

  • just a song to show thier feeling about the audience interaction and we loved it!!!

  • I cannot believe Dimmu is still being mentioned. just enjoy what is most probably the best song you have heard today!

  • Gotta admit... I'm a Dimmu Borgir fan coming over to check out the guys who originally wrote that beautiful keyboard intro, and I have to say these guys ain't bad.

  • @bloodr0cuted ...ain't bad ?!! ......simply awsome !! dimmu sux as hell and the most of metal bands of our days !!!.....from a true metal listner!!

  • @DragonlordXV Lol dimmu's best, ur fag u probly cut youre writsts to Linkin Park lololololololololol

  • @bloodr0cuted ....best my ass ! ..but i don't blame you ...you'r the victime of the commercial generation music !

    heavy metal rulessssssssss.....fuck you!

  • @DragonlordXV lol.

  • @bloodr0cuted you and dimmu shuck

  • directly to the soul

  • true shut up about dimmu this is for real true metal:)

  • this version is actually much better and the cd version ;) and the other live version's

at least thats what i think ...

  • who cares? its one of the best songs ever written!

  • If I am correct, Magnum took the Intro from a video game, and Dimmu Borgir Modified Magnums version.

  • No, Magnum did not take this from a video game. The intro was originally written by the the keyboardist Mark Stanway's wife, and he adapted it for this song for the Chase The Dragon album which came out in 1982.

  • @SirSIither

    Mo wrote this ?

  • wrong. dimmu borgirs old keayboard player took the song sorgens kamer from a game called agony and the rest of the band didnt know and he also took this one. but yeah u kinda got it mixed up.

  • Whatever, someone stole it and I like Dimmus version the best..

  • @SpyderR0de0

    hi SpyR0de0,

    thanks for the info.

So Magnum are not only extraordinary musicians and songwriters.

Besides that they are engenius engineers because they invented the time machine and time traveling.

Can't think of another explanation how else they could have managed to write that song 10 years before the mentioned video game was released (Sacred Hour: 1982 - Amiga game "Agony": 1992)

So they travelled 10 years forward in time, took the intro and went back to 1982...?

    ;-)

  • cant wait to see them next week. not seen them since 85 so will be strange

  • Lol, dumbass.

  • @Anonymous4TheWin: This video is from 1988... Dimmu Borgir didn't form until 1993.

  • it was the other way around. but it wasnt dimmus fault. look it up.

  • WHen you see all those pianos in the video, if this was any other band you'd think "there's no way he uses 1/2 of them". But since this is Magnum you know that 100% of them are used for each microsecond of every song!

  • This live version sounds classsss! Hopefully i'll get to see them for the 1st time this year !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they rule so underated !

  • It seems that Stian Aarstad took so many tunes from other musicians for Stormblast. Kind of like John Williams' borrowing from numerous Classical sources; he may make it sound good, but it's definitely something that should garner some animosity from other musicians.

  • that guy's beard is epic.

  • He didn't completely rip it off. There are some differences, but credit where credit's due. I love Stian aarstad but yeah he definetly copied this one pretty close, though not exact.

  • you're right not exactly copied. However, this one is way better than alt lyn svunnet es hen (all light has vanished?).

  • I like "Alt Lys... " more cause i heard it first ... maybe if i heard this first id like this one more but then again i like them both =P

  • wut in a departur in solitude and this sound same???????

  • IMPRESIONANTE -->10

  • Tony is never ever mentioned and he is pure class and writes great stuff, his playing is up with the best there has been and that is a handfull

    the visiual is unique !!!!

i'v seen them loads in Hull and they are Superb live

  • I love the guitarrist *.*

  • class they RULE !!

  • I was always into more extreme or intense bands, but there is just something so amazing and special about Magnum, and what a songwriter! Clarkin is a genius, totally underrated.

  • Check out Bob Catley's solo stuff, the song Children of the Circle is Amazing.

  • Me too, I grew up more on nwobhm and thrash, but I think Magnum are one in a million, especially their work from Kingdom Of Madness to On A Storytellers Night, there is a magic about their best material, and to me they are one of the greatest bands ever, Clarkin as a guitarist and composer is without peer.

  • This intro is similar to Dimmu Borgir's Alt Lys Har Svunnet Hen

  • The keyboardist of Dimmu Borgir actually ripped it right off.

This song was written in 1982 over a decade before Dimmu Borgir started making music.

Not to mention Magnum's keyboardist plays it alot better.

  • Glad dimmu took it and did somthing good with it!!! HAIL NORWIGIAN BLACK METAL!!!!!

  • HAIL

  • @Dannmann1000 too bad dimmu hasn't been good since their sceond album. This shit stomps all over their weak ass pop black metal.

  • another great song from Magnum

  • ...wow...i'm a HUGE dimmu fan but...damn...it pains me to say this but they fuckin stole that WHOLE thing...didn't even take it up a key or anything

  • i had to see it to believe it. so the first keyboard player for Dimmu Borgir straight robbed these fools for their piano intro.

  • shut the fuck up about dimmu, this is Magnum, now and forever!

  • Oh my gosh! That's amazing! I will always and forever admire these guys for being able to do such magical songs, and playing them this good aswell.

  • man, I hate the beginning guitar sound on this song (it sounds like "The Proclaimers"). however, after that aspect is overlooked it sounds like one of the best songs of all the times!!

  • i cant beleive magnum went from this to playing crap small venues, thats not right, one of the greatest rock bands ever and theyve just been forgotten

  • The last time Dimmu Borgir played 'Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen' with the intro was in 1998, and they only played it a few times then I recall. Stian, the keyboardplayer wasn't fired because of the ripoffs. There were internal problems with him and the rest of the band. He kept not showing up at shows etc. At Dynamo Festival '97, they played without keyboards because of him not being able to make the ferry down to Holland or where Dynamo was held. Anyway, this is great. All credit to Magnum! Good song

  • magnum are so underated and dimnu so overated great song by a great band still delivering

  • World Class band

  • Outstanding!!!

  • Rly now, even though I'm not a Magnum fan I think it's safe to say that Magnum >>> Dimmu.

Dimmu stole that part, they're common theives.

Magnum wrote the part which all the Dimmu fans love. Give the band the cred it deserves.

  • the band diddnt know the song was another song done by another band, the keyboardist did and played it off like it was his own til the band found out and fired him.

  • That is true, but it's not like they stopped playing it live after that...

  • yes they have. they just dont include the keyboard intro anymore. that was the only thing that was magnums. the reast of the song was original.

  • You mean they wrote the rest of the song.*

I wouldn't call it particularly 'original' though...

  • believe what you want, its still a good song, although not my fav, i liked their first album For all Tid alot more

  • My fav when I was into them as a kid was always Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen... ;_;

  • its good....i just liked the piano part most of all and yea but the rest of the album was good. I wish they do For all tid songs at shows but whatever, whatever puts asses in the seats i guess lol

  • Yeah, it kind of sucks.

But that was a long time ago for me, now I'm tr00 kvlt underground, lol...

  • gawd i remember when dimmu were tr00

now it seems Magnum is more Tr00 kvlt than them :P lol

  • troo dat, roffel.

  • dont say dimmu, it was the keyboarder, they kicked him out for doing such shit and other stuff with out telling the band its a ripoff

  • He was still apart of the band, and they continue to play those songs live to this day anyway.

You're that die hard Dimmu Borgir fan I've seen around DB videos on youtube for years now, isn't it time for you to start listening to some 'real' black metal? I listened to Dimmu Borgir for maybe a month before getting bored with them, there simply isn't anything interesting or original about this band, they're not even particulary talented, just ultra-hyped...

  • yes they played it until 1998, the reason he was kicked out was not that he stole "alt lys er svunnet hen", but sorgens kammer, and maybe even mourning palace, but thats just rumour. when it comes to the "real" BM you are talking about, so i consider dimmu borgir from 1994-1999 as "real" melodic black metal, just like satyricon and emperor. im sure not a "die hard" dimmu borgir fan, because i really kriticise them in many points, and apart from that also listening to immortal and maybe 10 other

  • Your youtube profile tells me otherwise.

And do you listen to any black metal except for mainstream norwegian bands?

  • Yes, they played 'Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen' until 1998, with the intro, though in 1998 they only played it a few times, and Mustis did NOT play the intro Live. It was played over speakers. I know a guy who used to do their sound in 1998-1999, and he has confirmed it. Last time they played it with Stian or Kimberly Goss playing the intro was in 1997. First time they did it without synth was at Dynamo 1997, because of Stian didn't show up because he got stuck on the ferry down to Holland.

  • wow, thats some interesting news. but i wonder why can mustis play his stuff so good when he isnt in dimmu borgir actually in 1997 ? did dimmu borgir let him practice stuff because they didnt trust stian to come anyway or why did he know how to play the songs?

  • Well, my best guess is because Mustis is a very talented player, and after the 1997 'Enthrone Darkness Triumphant' Tour, they had lots of months to rehearse with Mustis before doing the Summer Tour of 1998, where they mainly played European Festivals. I have many audio bootlegs from 1995-1999, and Mustis always did great in 1998 and onwards.

  • most videos i upload are dimmu borgir videos of course because i like posting videos that are quite rare on youtube. but when it comes to non-mainstream BM bands, here are my vavourite bands (yes some are mainstream, but some sure not) : Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Emperor, Satyricon, 1349, Naglfar, Endstille, Trollech, Astarte, Carpathian Forest, Burzum, Darkthrone, Dark Funeral, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy. im sure not the dimmu borgir metal kiddie you would expect and i dont "worship" dimmu borgir.

  • Dimmu videos are rare?

Endstille is the only non-mainstream band you listed...

I could name drop for hours... And I've got nothing more to add to that statement.

  • watch my videos, most videos i postet only exist 1-2 times on youtube. well and endstille is more mainstream than 1349, trollech, astarte, emperor and satyricon. here in germany at least, everyone who knows dimmu and immortal also knows endstille

  • Only 1-2 times? Lawl.

And Endstille is 'not' as mainstream as 1349, Astarte, Emperor and Satyricon, I assure you. You don't see them winning grammy awards... Endstille is not that underground though, they're about as popular as Marduk was 5 years ago I reckon. Trollech is a joke, haha, they're new Immortal - who are also much of a joke to the rest of the scene.

  • I was stating facts, not opinion. I couldn't care less for any scene to be honest.

  • "Trollech is a joke, haha, they're new Immortal - who are also much of a joke to the rest of the scene."

I forget, when was it that your opinions began to be considered facts?

  • As far as I'm concerned it's just common knowledge, but I can see how it might be confusing for someone who is new to this particular music scene.

  • How can that possibly be a fact? It's your opinion, and the opinion of many others, but popularity does not establish truth.

  • Some Black Metal bands decide not to try to appear as 'super cereal' simply because the BM image is often so exaggerated that it's just ridiculous. As a result of this a lot of BM musicians appear as a bunch of delusional, juvenile morons with no insight to how dumb they really look with the blatantly copied corpsepaint and uninspired songwriting.

  • Comment removed

  • lol, do you realy count Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth as BM?! Arch Enemy is Death Metal (Well, some sort of Melodic Death Metal) and Amon Amarth is kind of Viking, but both are not BM

  • i know it was just a summary of what i listen to and its mostly BM, with of course some DM

  • ur totaly right!

  • Amon Amarth is Melodic Death too, they don't count as Viking.

  • Mozna sie wkurwic:/

  • dokladnie, kiedy samo dimmu o tym nie wpomnialo w zakldakach. w ogle to plagiatorzy : sorgens kammer to utwor z jakiejs tam gry na amige :|

  • Wow, Dimmu Borgir so stole those keys in the intro. They didn't even think about changing it one bit, pure theft. :/

  • I'd have to disagree, dimmu didn't even pull it off as well.

So it's almost pure theft... haha.
