The real cause of the red ring of death was the many people buying the xbox. It was so popular that all the stocks were running out really fast. So microsoft HAD TO make those Xbox much faster. They didn't have many choices to make the productions fast, they replaces some soddering with faster, but less strong. They thought it might hold, but it didn't. But they had no choice. It was that, or make many people unhappy because they wouldn't get the xbox fast enough.

it can be fixed, its cold soldering on the motherboard. when it is, is when they rush the construction process of each console one-by-one. They use cheap thermal grease on the processors and the graphics processing unit, instead of using high quality thermal grease and better soldering with care witch would make the 360 work better. But Microsoft cuts corners in the essembly line. But you can fix it don't throw your 360 away
