I understand your argument, however, if you want to get picky about what an actual zombie is then we should look back to the first zombie movie, "White Zombie" from 1932 in which these zombies weren't actually dead but alive and under a hypnotic spell. Also the first modern zombie movie, Romero's NOTLD, never had any mention of the word zombie, in fact they called them "ghouls" which was technically true. So, it's rash to dismiss the Rage "zombies" as they still exhibit zombie characteristics.
