They just listen to it once on youtube and make judgement straight away. Chalky is one of my fave vocalists in metal (big claim). Just such a unique style, and the craziest range. Perfect lows and screeching highs. I remember the very first time I heard this album back 7 years or so ago back in year 11 in my mates car I thought there were 2 vocalists haha.

This singer is awesome. No one makes those similar sounds. Their new vocalist isnt nearly as versatile. i love psycroptic, but symbols of failure onward, all the songs on the albums start sounding the same. not too many different keys being used. and i think the guitarist is out of riffs haha

Matt Chalk is one of the most talented and versatile death metal vocalists you can find. This guy has absurd range, he doesn't bree and his style is unmistakable. The shrieks are unmatched. George Fisher would ruin this band. Only vintage/young Chris Barnes could replace Matt Chalk.

Chalky > Jason by far.

Chalky has the most unique voice I've heard in death metal. He's fuckin' nuts. The new stuff is good musically, but I can't stand Jason's vocals. Symbols of Failure had ok vocals, but (Ob)Servant's vocals are unbearable to me.

The vocals on this album are the BEST death vocals EVER recorded. Listen to it on good speakers with lots of bass, and only listen to the vocals. Chalkys range is the widest, the tone is so sick and inhuman like someone ripping a phonebook in half. There is absolutely none like it.

And actually, SOP just announced that Chalk is no longer with them. Im guessing he is an asshole in person cuz no one wants to work with him.

Chalky definitely has potential, but there are some spots where his vocals are just down right annoying. I hope he sounds great in Spawn of Possession.

His vocals are regular death growls, if you find that annoying you probably find mostly all death vocals annoying. If you want solos, type "Necrophagist" into the search bar.

There is actually one solo on this album, its hidden at the very end of the last track "scepter of Jaar-Gilon".

Its not partticularly memorable, but I dont mind because despite the lack of solos, its still the best album in my collection.

@varulv234 Haha. This "cheesy" sounding vocalist is Matthew Chalk, and in my opinion one of the best death metal vocalists I've heard. I guess it comes down to personal preference. I like his vocals because of the variety of styles he can sing. Most death metal bands just growl low, and it gets boring after a while, for me at least. I'm not saying it's bad or anything though, cause I still love guttural vocals.

The new vocalist is only on their newest album Ob(servant)

Death Metal vocals aren't really THAT important to me, now that i think of it, as long as they sound ''good'', i'm fine, but if they're really good to me, then that's great. I like the sound of Decapitated's vocals on Organic Hallucinations, they sounds great, i also like Cannibal Corpse and Deicide's vocals, as long as they're intense and heavy, which is something, that i don't feel that these are, sounds very thin in my opinion.
