  • The 4 people who disliked this are heartless, 2000s kids!

  • Marc Summers is such a nice guy, I've had the liberty of speaking to him once on Facebook, he's even annoyed at how Nickelodeon is running nowadays! The "No Gak in the World" thing came true, sadly, but in 2012, it came back! ^_^!

  • i'll be 46 when they open this o.o hope they put the opening of the time capsule on tv.

  • little did they know the year 2011 there wouldnt be any gak either.... lol

  • @Bethmasterbtv But in 2012, it came back! =)

  • @666slipmaiden

Nickelodeon Studios closed because of multiple reasons. The biggest one was that the network's viewers (which at the time were still primarily "90's Kids") lost interest in game shows. Nickelodeon couldn't produce the types of programs viewers wanted in Orlando because actors refused to leave Los Angeles. No actors = no shows. Kids stopped visiting the Studios to take the tour & visit the Gift Shop even on the days when the rest of Universal was packed.

  • I WILL take my children to the opening of the capsule!!!! No matter what!! I'll be 44!! Even though I wasn't born yet I still wanna go!:

  • Did they show one of the guys from hey dude

  • we already brought back 90s nick, why not bring back the studios!!! I know i'm not the only one who wants it open. come on people lets do this! thumbs up so people can see

  • Little did they know Michael Jackson would die 17 years later:(

  • hey, 10 months until the 20 year anniversary. i wonder if nick will do anything to commemorate it?

  • I hope to watch the unburial in... 31 years. I personally want the game boy and Nicktoons T shirt. ♥

  • I was 2. lol I feel old now. xD

  • We dont have gak now lol

  • RIP Nickelodeon Studios. You will be dearly missed. (You know what's sad? I was only 10 when it closed and I wanted to see the studios so badly.)

  • Uploading this in a way served the same purpose; it's interesting looking at all these things almost 20 years on and thinking of how different the world was back then.

  • i remember this!

  • That Gak is going to be hard as a rock by 2042.

  • Gak, VHS, & Michael Jackson, all gone so far. ;(

  • there is one thing in the future they didnt predict

  • TERRIBLE NEWS! BY THE YEAR 2042 THERE WILL BE NO MORE NICKELODEON STUDIOS!

  • Watching this video made me cry. :'(

I miss being a kid in the 90's. Life was great, and Nickelodeon was great.

I was not able to be there when they buried the time capsule, but one thing's for sure: I'm definitely going to be there when they dig it up.

  • going to be 51 wen dig up the time capsuie

  • Ummmm question: They called Green Slime now, Orange Gack back then?

  • ill be 32 when they open this thing

  • @xoxo0414 WAT

  • It's crazy how just now in 2010 things have changed so much

  • Little did everyone know Nick would suck 20 years later.

  • You drop this thing *drops* it will shatter like a plate. And it actualy just did. LOLWUT?

  • If Nickelodeon had left the time capsule behind when it closed Nickelodeon Studios and pulled out of Universal, it would have been considered abandoned property. Universal could have dug it up & discarded it.

The time capsule needs to stay with Nickelodeon…and the Nick Hotel was a logical choice for its new home.

  • @bewarethedecks

DO you know where/or what they did with the big orange sign, and the slime geyser, nick at nite taxi and slime truck? whered they put everything outside after the studios closed?

  • @drummer728

The disposition of those items was never documented. A while back, Josh Yawn (he created that awesome tribute to Nickelodeon Studios video) was asked about the "Nickelodeon" sign and he felt that it was probably junked. My guess is that the geyser, taxi & truck were also disposed of. Only the time capsule is known to exist.

If the sign, geyser, taxi & truck still exist, someone is doing an amazing job of keeping them out of the public eye.

  • well relocating the time capsule completely kills the point of a time capsule why didant they just keep it there

  • they buried the capsule exactly 13 years before the studios shut down :(

  • OMG, I'm gonna be 56 in 2042. I was 6 in 1992.

  • This makes me want to cry. Oh, this is so beautiful.

  • Only 32 years to go...

  • I was 12 years old when this capsule was buried. I remember voting on the contents and watching the live event. They should have just left it where it was, as a permanent landmark at Universal. I wonder if it's new burial place is even marked or viewable to visitors? There's no mention of it on the hotel's website that I could find.

  • @rcmcghee

There are pictures of the time capsule as it appears today at the Nick Hotel posted on the Internet. They were taken by people who stayed there. My understanding is that it's located near the hotel's main entrance.

Today's average Nickelodeon viewer was born around the time Nickelodeon Studios was starting to wind down. As such, the time capsule doesn't mean as much to them as it does to "90's Kids". That's partly why the capsule isn't mentioned on the hotel's website.

  • @bewarethedecks- Thank you for mentioning this. Of this I will be sure to investigate.

I was born in 1991. I consider myself a '90s kid, and I assume that I am one, but I think I have had some people disagree with me. I could be off. Not positive. Numbers are my weak point. Nevertheless, I do remember the time capsule. Faintly, but I still recall it. My long-term memory is monumental. My short-term - dreadful. I was about 1/2 years in 1992, but I remember loads. :)

  • its jimmy from yes dear

  • The time capsule needs to stay on Nickelodeon property. That's why it was moved to the Nickelodeon Suites Resort. If the complex @ Universal is still around in 2048, the time capsule could always be brought back and opened on that very spot.

  • i`m born in 1994 so in 2042 i`ll be 48 years old

  • @noburqua

    I'll be 56 in 2042. I'm 24 now.

  • Wow! I love this video! Thanks for posting! Amazing!

  • Doc was right about there being no slime in the future. Nick doesn't even use slime on any of their shows. Good thing they put some for everyone to remember what Nick was all about.

  • well has anyone tried to get the capsule?

  • FAIL - Fake Doc

  • well, we got another 32 years left to wait. I'll be an old man in that time, but at least I can remember what they put in there now.

  • I wonder what the Nick logo will look like in 50 years

  • It's sad that Nickelodeon Studios is gone now. I only went there once in 1998 when I was 9 years old and my sister was 7.They should have at least kept the Time Capsule there out of respect. It's weird that in 9 days it will be 18 years that the Nickelodeon Time Capsule was buried, I feel so old :(

  • It's looks like Doc Brown was right about there not being any Gak in the future, to bad he couldn't have warned us about there not being any Slime in the future either other than Brainsurge and The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards that's the only time we get to see Slime.

  • What do you think the Gak is going to look like in 2042?

  • Vomit?

  • @ClassicNickelodeon2 haha maybe, how cool would it be if the Gak still looked the same it did in 1992

  • they lied lol

  • 1992, Metallica at it's finest

  • My heart sunk when I heard about the world's Gak supply. It's already non-existent! D:

  • ;_;

  • god I miss the old nick

  • nobody is gonna open it cos the case in 2012.......noooooo.....not open FOREVER!

  • Comment removed

  • Funny how he says "We won't touch it!" And then they movie it to Nick Hotel. What the crap

  • I remember this!! Would've been funny if Doc had said, in the future, Nick is going to have horrible shows and totally forsake the generation that gave it it's claim to fame in the first place! Lol. Gosh I miss old Nick....

  • The day after I was born!

  • Oh, I miss the old Nick!

  • they should have put nickelodeon stuff in like photos, show props and videos

  • they did they put gak, nick ids, a bumpers tape, and some other shit

  • i was born in 1987 ill be 54-55 in 2042 dam ill be old

  • michael jackson!

  • They should reopen Nickelodeon Studios as a museum of the history of Nick and their tv shows we all adored so much

  • there probably wont be an existing VCR in 2042 to watch that video they made, ha.

  • does anyone know where exactly its buried at the nick hotel? those assholes, they shouldve left it where it was buried, at the "first world headquarters for kids"

  • those kids will not reglize yet that nick would suck in the next 18 years

  • I think Nickelodeon should play old Nick shows in June dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the opening of Nick studios. It may have closed but what an awesome tribute that would be. The shows should consist of the ones that were taped in the studios like all of the old game shows and stuff.

  • @Classic90sfan Hmmmm thats exacly what I was thinking 0o

  • i just rememmbered that i will be 45...and that some of that stuff in the time capsule will be worth a lot of money

  • i wasn't around when the time capsule was buried, but i lived long enough to see the awsomeness of nick in the 90's. now 8 days after my april birthday, im goin' to florida! also just imagine what the twinkies and gum will look like in 2042

  • FUCK PERRY COMO

  • 2042? I am going to be 46 in January 22nd, 2042. That's 8 days, and 3 months before that Caps' is found, nor taken to the hospital.

  • I was only 12, though nearly 13 when I recorded this back in 1992. I remember it quite vividly. It was during the evening, about 70 degrees with fair skies. Well, at least that was what the weather was like from my location in Central IL.

  • if Only They Would have know that There' d be No Nickelodeon Studios in the Future.

    =[

  • If Marc Summers is still alive when this is opened in 2042, he will be 90, and if Melissa Joan Hart is still alive then, she'll be 66. Also, the teenagers viewing this will be reaching retirement age when the time capsule is opened, and lord knows how the world will be different and our way of life will be by then.

  • in 50 years "on this spot" so sad, they should have left it there...... under ground...

  • @TheCarpenter90 i agree even though someone else bought that place they could have left it there or did nick make them move it?

  • damn i would be 49 years old lmfao

  • Damn, Mike O'Mally will be 75 by 2042.

Time capsules are so weird. Weird thinking how all these children in the video are already in their 20s. Even weirder thinking how they'll all be adults; I wonder if any of them will be present for the opening of the time capsule.

The world sure has changed since 1992, Nickelodeon included. The "theme park" has already become somewhat outdated. With the economy in the dumper and the nation in "decline", 2042 seems like forever away. :x

  • aww theres already no more Gak...? This is sad :( Nice vid. though :D

  • @RanmaChan93 Doc Brown was right

  • This is awesome.

  • I will be 57.

  • I bet they forgot about this

  • Wow. Absolutely amazing. Mike and Joey had hair back then.

Makes me wonder if the time capsule and/or Nickelodeon will last by the time 2042 rolls around. Again wow.

  • wow...thanks so much for this...too bad 92 era celebs were cheesy

  • ...but isn't that what the 90's were all about? Embrace the cheese. Love the cheese. Be the cheese.

  • even 20 years after this, these things are amazing

  • how did you get this???

  • i wonder if anyone would ever open it?

  • where is it now

  • The Nickelodeon Hotel, Orlando, Florida

  • Wouldn't kids know a LP in 1992? I did, and I was only 8 at the time.

  • I didn't, and I was 6 going on 7, lol.

  • People still listened to records in 1992. They didn't have LP's in '42, though.

  • Wow, Just Wow can't wait for it to be reopened on April 30th,2042 I would have thought the idea of this ended once the studios closed I'm happy the reburried it at the Nicktoons Resort!

  • And to think, I went there in March and stood on a metal plate that went over the hole that the time capsule was in. Everyone here thought Nick Studios would be around for another 50 years- It didn't even survive for another 15 years after this.

  • Ahhh Twinkies. The only thing that will still be good in 2042. ;)

  • awhe a cd from michael jackson :(
