The reason the military won't let them do this is because they aren't supposed to have minds of their own. The military trains soldiers to obey without question. They want solidarity. That being said, It also goes to say a lot when someone is an E-4 with 10 years of service and numerous deployments. On top of that they are knowingly going on national television and breaking the rules by campaigning in uniform. Most people with his time in service are either a senior staff sergeant or a sergeant first class. I think there are some underlying reasons why this soldier is still only a corporal. While I support Ron Paul this soldier should have known better.

First off let me start by saying that I am active duty, I am a Ron Paul supporter, and I even donated to his campaign. However, to reiterate what several people have said it is against regulation to actively campaign for any candidate while in uniform. There are several reasons for this. For example; Me being a leader...If I were to use my position and authority to actively promote a specific candidate to my subordinates it could be viewed as voter intimidation or any other number of things.
