    For the record, most of the yay-hoos who've commented here have obviously 1. never been in the service, because if they had been, they would know that what Thorsen did was wrong, and 2. seem to not understand that troops don't enjoy the same freedoms as Johnny back on the block.

This guy should NEVER have shown up in uniform to a caucus, and if he was going to show up at all, he NEVER should've mentioned that he's in the service. This is learned in basic training. He's entitled to his opinions - yes, but he's NOT to discuss them in such a forum and NOT IN UNIFORM. For you whiners out there who don't think he should be punished: do your research. The law's the law, and it is, INDEED, the law in the service. Try me.

It is misleading and makes the individual's politics the company politics.It is basic logic that this is not a good thing for any organization.The military has valid reasons for this policy.Rehenrick isn't a troll for stating what the regulations are.Does this really need to be spoon fed that this is basic professionalism ?

The reason the military won't let them do this is because they aren't supposed to have minds of their own. The military trains soldiers to obey without question. They want solidarity. Otherwise, when they're involved in illegal & unnecessary wars, they will be able to speak out which will expose the truth to the people and lower troop morale.

  • That being said, It also goes to say a lot when someone is an E-4 with 10 years of service and numerous deployments. On top of that they are knowingly going on national television and breaking the rules by campaigning in uniform. Most people with his time in service are either a senior staff sergeant or a sergeant first class. I think there are some underlying reasons why this soldier is still only a corporal. While I support Ron Paul this soldier should have known better.

  • First off let me start by saying that I am active duty, I am a Ron Paul supporter, and I even donated to his campaign. However, to reiterate what several people have said it is against regulation to actively campaign for any candidate while in uniform. There are several reasons for this. For example; Me being a leader...If I were to use my position and authority to actively promote a specific candidate to my subordinates it could be viewed as voter intimidation or any other number of things.

  • So from what I'm seeing in the comment a grunt can't speak while in uniform. Hmm that sounds like tyranny to me and I don't give a damn if your in army or not. When u join you become uncle SAMs cock boy and it seems lots of you in comments are dedicated cock suckers.
