  • I married a Couch, they always make me feel at home when I visit there. Alba Disgdiertt was my mother in law, miss her dearly!

  • Nice trailer Marcela. I'd like to see the whole thing. Hope your doing well.

  • great work, how can i see the whole thing?

  • Yeah Marcela! Great Work, I am so glad others are getting to see this great documentary. I know you worked so hard to make this documentary happen.

  • Just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed this documentary. It makes want to have Key West back the way it was. I am sure I am not the only one that wants it back. Knowing it will never happen I am glad I have this now to remind what we are missing in 2008

  • Just wanted to say Thanks for posting this Marcela. I will surely be getting one for my Dad who was a KW Police officer for 26 years and would enjoy this.

  • My father, Frank Bazo, is in this video - it's amazing!!! I've heard a lot of stories growing up. My kids really enjoyed this also. It would be great to expand using continuing generations of Conchs and their perspectives of KW through the years. I am also married to a Conch (an Atwell) and his grandmother (his mom's mom) is the daughter of Sloppy Joe Russell so there is definite history in our family tree for Key West.

  • Frank is great!!! He says he won't share the El Anon recipes with anyone but you!!! Yes, I'd love to continue and interview the next generations.

  • thats frankie for ya

  • Terrific trailer. I look forward to viewing the full film. You'll get my order shortly. Like my cousin below I see relatives in the still shot immediately after the shot of the Cuban Club. While I live in Manhattan now I was born in KW, and I can trace my ancestors there to about 1850s so far.

    Regards to Aronovitz Lane!

  • Thank you so much for the video. The picture inside the Cuban Club has my Abuela and Abuelo in it! I'll have to check but I think my Tia and Tio are standing next to them!

  • Hi Marcela!

It's Ms. Lynn- your yr book advisor from your HOB school days :) You have so touched my heart by putting this video together. I love it and will be in touch for my copy as well. I am just sad my father didn't live long enough to see this. He would have had so many wonderful stories and pictures to add!!

Much success to you on this venture :)

  • Hi, Ms. Lynn!!! I would have loved to interview your father. Thank you for your nice words. :)

  • Your video is really lovely, captures Key West beautifully.

Although I've lived here only 20 years, it is my home and I plan to be here many more years. I would like to buy the full documentary, could you bring one by SoDu Gallery, 1100 Duval next Tuesday? Thanks,

    Fran

  • Marcela, you did a beautiful job on this video. I'm a Key West conch and from a long line of conchs, both Cuban and Bahamian ancestry. I would like to purchase your full documentary video. Excellent music, excellent all around!

  • It is absolutely beautfiul Marcelita! I put it in my favorites! And it is my very favorite!!!

  • Although I was a transplant, Key West was my home in the early 50's and it is still in my heart. Thank you so much for bring back the KW I remember. Although I must confess, I still like going there and remembering the fun of high school. Thanks again.

  • What a wonderful treasure you have given us. I remember "Our Key West" ... I miss "Our Island" ... before ... before ... befire ... these are the real Conchs ... not the "new locals" who have changed everything and have absolutely NO respect for the old Conchs. I have passed this along to classmates and friends.

  • An amazing experience to hear these stories and meet these wonderful Conchs. Thank you for passing it along. You are lucky to have experienced that special time in KW.

  • I can't begin to tell you how wonderful the Old Conchs were. They were the most loving and friendly people. I am a Navy Conch but we never left the island until after I graduated HS. The umbilical cord is still attached to the Cow Key Bridge. The new locals think the Conchs inbreds - but those wonderful Conchs opened their arms to those would destroy their way of lives. It is more than a "hometown" ... it was a "way of life!" 1971

  • kewwest is my hometown baby!! Go KW conchs!!

  • Memories you hold close to you heart. These were the Days when the island was one big family..........

I remember the Gardner family. Her Mom was a great Mom. Spent many hours talking to her when her son was missing in the war (Cemi). Lou Pineda another person who reaches out to many.

I could write for hours as I knew each picture personally.
