Dude you play play the verses wrong. Make a C then slide up to the 3rd fret (same shape) to make a variation on D. That's how it's done and maybe use a similar strum to the original and the guitar rhythm wouldn't sound so Pumpkins "Tonight Tonight". Fair play otherwise..
