  • I did exactly this and the it's spilling gas out the over flow. so annoying, didn't have this problem before.

  • @markusx2468 The float is to high or the needle is not seating properly.

  • when instlling the floats back in with the carb upside down like that, should the needle have enough spring pressure to where the float kind of "hovers" to where you can press on the floats a little and let go and the kind of spring back up?

  • @mxkx48 I do not recall how much pressure there is on the needle. If in doubt do a level test before putting the carb in service.

  • @richpin06a How did you shape the tapered end of the wooden dowel....

  • @1234pearls I shaped it on the bench grinder.

  • Im This pwk curft a manufacture japs Pwk is good carburtor but bely process very quiet use habitually thankyou

  • How did you get Ray Ramano to commentate?

  • @xboogerfacex He had nothing else to do.

  • Hey! Can i change the small golden cylinder thing that the needle of the floater goes in? Please answer! Thank you :)

  • @gousgounakos12 I am not sure i never replaced that seat before.

  • I have a kkawasaki klx 125 dirt bike can you explain how to clean ? You look like you now what you doing unlike those other kids

  • @MrBrian5161 I do not have a carb to clean at this time.

  • Good Work Sir, Thank you

  • Hello,

this looks very easy, but sometimes you run into carburetors. All of these jets are sometimes stuck.

What would you suggest that one do when running into parts on the outside and the inside of a carburetor that are in fact stuck

  • @memberson I would be lost i guess because in all the years i worked on cycle carbs i never ran into any parts i could easily remove.

  • @memberson

a product call mouse milk works really really well at helping to remove stuck or corroded parts.

  • Very helpful video. Thanks very much!

  • do thes floats have a certain height they need to be adjusted to?

  • @aahhzap Yes they do you can find that information in your repair books.

  • i tightened the main jet too much and the top of it broke off inside the hole what can i do buying a new carburetor just isnt an option ,please help!

  • @kilkennyman2009 You should be able to use an screw extractor to remove it.

  • Great video. Very clear and useful.

  • is there anyway to fix a broken post that the float pin goes through to hold the floats in? One is broken in half which makes the pin wiggle out, any way to rig it to fix it? don't really have 200 dollars to buy a new one

  • @ramseyer73 Two things i can think of are GB weld and HTS-2000

  • What if the screws for the float bowl are stripped?

  • @gavinabcdefghi Try a small vice grip or a small chisel.

  • if after cleaning of my carboretor and it didnt start, what is the possible reason?

  • @quidilig0606 No spark ,fouled plug are a couple things that could be the problem.

  • Ray Ramano know's how to rebuild a carburetor?

  • @holyshitballs11 Hell ya

  • helpp i lost my fuel air screw so i got a new one. i dont know how far in i need it. the instructions said to adjsut till you get the best reaction... i cant tell the difference so i dont know if im runnign to lean or rich. please reply

  • @drunksmokingjurkk Is the air screw on the outside of the carb your taking about

  • if you use a piece of clear hose pipe directly to the drain pipe with the screw open the fuel will travel up the hose to the level the float is at

  • hey man then i turn on the gas lever thing gas just pours out of the hoses. would this be the float? and the hoses are in rough shape some have holes and cracks and one is broken so would it be the hoses then?

  • @hobo617 Most likely there is something wrong with the float, check the needle and seat also.

  • nice... thank you

  • @ynohtna35 You bend the tang on the float to adjust the level.

  • what brand is that choke plunger? how well does it work?

  • Nice vid. Thatfloat tool is pretty slick... How accurate is it?

  • @rd2fst Very

  • your voice sounds like ray romano's

  • @ed563 i get that allot

  • is it possible that there is air leak inside the carburetor??? what can be wrong with my carburetor? i checked and there is no air leak elsewhere..thanks

  • im using a keihin pwk35mm air striker on my carburetor..when i set the idle for the engine for it to idle but after a while when i started the engine again i have to set the idle again because the engine idles higher on its own...what is the problem?

  • @DenMushiDen possibly a air leak somewhere might be one explanation

  • @DenMushiDen a video I watched before says you should set the idle when the engine has had a chance to warm up.

the video I watched is titled "how motorcycle and atv carbs work" ( watch?v=4azg3hIl9oI )

At about 8:00-9:15 into his video he explains adjusting the idle

    Hope this helps

  • what happens if the float level is not up to that line? how would you go about adjusting it so its at the right spot

  • @espltdm251playa The engine would starve or flood if the height is not right. You bend the tang that the needle is on to adjust the float.

  • @richpin06a o ok i got ya, thanks i appriciate your help, great video \m/

  • That thing didn't have a gasket between those halves?

  • I was work at KEIHIN Corp ( KID ) hahaha...this is not bad video ! i like it ...

  • Very Informative, Helped me out alot! Thanks!

  • good instructional video. just one problem. there's only one n in keihin. it's pronounced keehin. not keenon. that shit bothers me. I'm not sure why.

  • hi i wont to ask what is the difference between a pwk and a pe carburetor

  • My carb pours out gas too, i'm pretty sure i lost the spring that goes above the float when i was blowing it out with some air. Would that be the needle assembly?

  • @PAULYPERSO ON the keihin pwk carb there is no spring but there is a little wire retainer that hold the needle to the float.

  • do u u know where i can order just that part rather then purchasing a whole carb? thanks

  • @PAULYPERSO Your local motorcycle dealer should be able to order it for you.

  • @richpin06a hello, what bike uses this carb? kawasaki? suzuki panther? any stock bikes will do. thankss

  • @richpin06a hello, what bike uses this carb? any stock or old bike models will do

  • Hi i just bought a second hand dirt bike, good runner but at full throttle it coughs and misses beats, it wont idle, ever, hard to start now and when starting or running in pours fuel out of the overflow pipe, so much so i ran out of gas! what do you think could be rong?

  • @nitrodork09 Check the needle and seat if that is ok it has to be the float.

  • at 6:2, is that the bolt to empty the carb from petrol for when winterizing the bike?

  • Yes it is

  • Thank you for this post!!! I took mine apart and forgot how to put the float needle in.

  • i have been looking for any sites that sell carbs for 125cc 2stroke dirt bikes.. any help

  • It is possible you have not gone big enough on the main.

  • I have also changed both front and rear sprockets.

    Original Sprocket Setup: 15/51

    Now: 14/46

I changed my rear first which helped but struggled on hills so I changed the front one down to compensate.

Ive noticed aswell that if I go 3/4 - full throttle in 1st gear and then up through the gears it seems ok, its when i give it throttle in any gear (except first) that is below 7000RPM.

My plug is slightly black but I think thats cause i run it on choke for a few mins cause of cold weather.

  • Ive got a question. (125cc Supermoto)

I recently fitted a new exhaust to my bike and noticed that if I gave it more than 3/4 throttle it would start to splutter (miss a beat) So I fitted a bigger Main jet (100) Stock was (95) And it still did it so I went down to a 97.5 and it still does it. Could the needle need adjusting?

My bike is also fitted with one of those Exhaust gas things that recycle some gas back into the Fuel/air mix aswell as another hose going back into my airbox.

    Any ideas?

  • Great video!

If the float level turns out to be wrong, is it because of a bad needle?

  • @Technotrasher It can be and also could be the float.

  • where can i find that black carb float

  • excellen info dude. Thanks

  • Replace your needle w/a brand new one...had the same problem and it was a bent needle, but couldn't see it w/the naked eye. Good luck.

  • I cleaned out my dirt bikes carb with carb cleaner, jets, bowl and all. The problem I had before cleaning it was that my throttle is stuck full open even at idle. I am thinking it could be the throttle slide somehow, maybe it hasnt gone down far enough down through the jet, would this cause a lot of fuel to come up through the main jet giving me a full throttle idle?

  • I have seen the throttle cable get frayed and get stuck open.

  • Throttle cable fraying is no longer the issue, throttle cable was replaced a few days ago in hopes that would fix the problem, but problem persists. How can I tell if the slide is fully seated?

  • Put the slide in the carb with it off the bike, then you can look & see if it's seating, also make sure your idle adjust screw isn't in to far.

  • @living4fire Take the top back off your carb. You will see that you have the slide in the wrong way round. On the inside of the carb (where you put there slide in) there is a notch, that goes into the groove on the side of the slide. If these are not ligned up the slide does not go all the way down and nothing you do with the throttle will make it go down. Take the top of the carb off and put the slide back in the right way around. I guarantee you that is the problem.

  • @Scootertuner1000

Thanks for the reply. This was indeed the problem, throttle no longer sticks wide open all the time. Awesome!

  • You're welcome. It's a common problem.

  • Great vid, but how hard can it be? :P Lol, you just put everything back where you took it from.

And if you cant remember, those parts dont fit in a lot of places

  • thnx for video. Saved the day ;)

  • lol yeah right... once u said carburetor it was all over

  • boston?

  • And i was trying so hard to hide the accent.

  • Hey Richpin, can you show us how to remove and replace a power steering reservoir on a Saturn? Thanks for all the great work.

  • I love that home made float level checker and that fact you didn't have any leftover parts.... (like I would have had.)

    Good work!
