has it occurred to anyone that fischer didnt achieve his level in spite of his conditions and environment in his formative years, but rather because of them? having soviet chefs and trainers certainly would have produced a different player, but im not convinced it would have been a better one.the soviet machine was just that: a machine.fischer is a one-off, the product of a systemic vacuum.i dont think he would have thrived in the soviet system.but who knows?he ws the exception to many rules

@viharsarok Kasparov is a great and dynamic player. However, give credit where it is due, Fischer dominated the Chess world during his short career. That includes the title of WGM, wresting it from the great Spassky.
Sad to hear such atrocities from a fellow chess player / fan.
@mooogles Dominated blablabla... When did he dominate Kasparov? If Fischer had grown up in the USSR like many of the greatest chess players Americans wouldn't give a shit about him. Fischer is the only one who could fix the broken self-esteem of American chess players because Soviet players were so vastly superior. That's why Americans cling on him. It's all part of the cold war.
@viharsarok If Fischer had grown up in the USSR he would have been even GREATER, as he would have had the entire Communist chess machine behind him, instead of having to translate his own material, not have a second, or even ANYONE else to discuss things with! The Communists even provided their players with their own personal doctor and chef!
... I assume you mis-read what i typed. Re-read it and disprove me... I'll state it again: "Fischer dominated the chess world in his short career."
"Sad to hear that nationality is considered more than merit."
You're the one who brought nationality, calling one yank. Its been months, why don't you spend a bit of time re-reading the nonsense you've typed before making frivolous comments.
"I give credit for his world class talent. It's just that he does have his equals."
You have a funny way of showing appreciation.
Don't be an brainless attack dog, never once did I even mention that Fischer is THE greatest. The whole argument who is best is just... time-wasting. Appreciation of the game is more enjoyable.
You're not in some Britney Spears channel where you can sprout nonsense. Just be quiet and enjoy the videos.
Oh really? Stop pretending I'm attacking Fischer. I'm not attacking Fischer, I'm attacking your stance on him. If you don't parrot that he is THE greatest than I apologize for it.
@viharsarok No, Fischer isn't considered great just because he's a "Yank" but because he totally dominated every turnament he went into in his prime. NO ONE wins like 12-0 anymore! It's basically like a boxer going into the ring and fighting with one hand tied behind his back and STILL winning the match! THAT is why Fischer is considered the best ever.
@TomDavid88 Tournament results greatly depend on the opponents. If he played in a tournament with Kasparov, Karpov, Anand, Topalov, Carlsen etc. how much money were you be willing to bet on that Fischer would win by 12-0? Drawing conclusions from arbitrary numbers is flawed.
@viharsarok These modern "chess" players are so busy pretending to play real games, that if they had to play a REAL game with a REAL player like Fischer, they probably wouldn't know WHAT to do! Modern chess is about as real as "professional" wrestling.
@TomDavid88 Although Fischer was a world class chess player, definitely one of the best, you shouldn't go as far as to say he was THE best. He is glorified because he is considered an American (even though his parents were immigrants). Americans like to think that they are the best in everything.
@viharsarok Bullshit. Virtually ANY American would immediately admit that the Russians have, in general, better chess players than they themselves do. It's just that the Americans, in both Fischer and Morphy, produced probably the two greatest chess geniuses of all time. Maybe only Alekhine comes close- oh, but he hated the fucking Communist System. Communism, as a rule, produces mediocrity.

Fischer vs Kasparov wished we could of seen a show down between those two giants to see who would be the true king.

@BrainlessZombie Kasparov is better. Fisher is great but he is mostly glorified by yanks because he was also a yank.

The part where you mentioned
"h6 to kick the knight away" (4:21)
I think Ne4 followed by Qg4 and Bxh6 is far better than the move Nh3?
This seems to passive and counter-productive after gaining that intial space
