I can sort of understand if the singers are not Welsh speaking...but on the other hand if you're going to learn something by ear, why learn most of the words correctly but not all of them??? And I'm sure I've heard Welsh speakers mispronouncing it in the anthem, when they wouldn't when speaking! It's not a 'hwntw' thing at all - everyone I know distinguishes between 'ai' and 'ei' in speech.
@mpc999STEP - just that 'ai' and 'ei' are quite different sounds in Welsh. Basically the first rhymes with 'hi' in English and the second rhymes with 'eh'. In speaking, everyone distinguishes between them but for some reason there seems to be a growing trend to pronounce 'beirdd' and 'pleidiol' and 'bairdd' and 'plaidiol' in the anthem by non-Welsh speakers and Welsh speakers alike. Annoying.
Not sure i like this version, I preferrred the plain simple video that used to be on the MOC site before you took over, the intro spoils it a little, but thanks for taking the time & effort to try. I do have a CD with the the Choir singing this but Ideally i wanted a video primarely of the choir, with an emphasis on welsh herratige although this has given me some ideas for my video i intend to create purely for my own viewing.
I am English but I love listening to this anthem. Very powerful tune, and much more interesting than God Save the Queen.

Pam nad yw pobl yn ei chanu hi'n iawn - "pleidiol" nid "plaidiol" a "beirdd" nid "bairdd"?
Why don't people sing it properly - "pleidiol" not "plaidiol" and "beirdd" not "bairdd"?

Hwntws. Just be grateful people are still singing this beautiful song, in spite of everything.
