  • im falling asleep with my head on the keyboard gijgadiaji76 ooowww wait

  • Not the greatest audio, but love the song. David Ian Jackson is a legend.

  • v .bad

  • meravigliosa!!!!

  • I'm 44 now and used to listen to this obsessively when I was 15; to this day I have the fantasy of "pushing right through" asking the D.J. to dump the 4/4 thump-thump and put this on and dance with my boyfriend - maybe the only couple - maybe not - on the floor while those who can't stand a slow dance drift away and walk out.

  • 7 people are clueless.

  • @hira25644 Twat.

  • One of the best songs written. That line, so poignant - "and I get tired of DJs, Why is it always what he plays" - You can picture the man trying to get up the nerve to get close to his love - perhaps they've fought, and that one song can be the one that brings them together again - but the DJ won't play it. He needs that slow song, and he needs it now

  • He's not a star - He's a singer .. :) Luv*

  • great song; bad copy

  • My favorite Joe Jackson song. God, so beautiful... I feel lucky to have found this song on his Night and Day album.

  • danced with my first girl on this song its my tune

  • I had forgotten also... hoping there is a best of album

  • just beautiful

  • top tune.

  • che classe Joe jackson

  • organ soli, superb!!!

  • Hi ! This one is simply my prefered song of Joe Jackson, without hesitations ! Thumbs up ! Thks for sharing ! BYE !

  • Love this song...& my friend that turned me on to it years ago (Vic Dussor)

  • definitely my favourite !

  • great song......................

  • masterpiece!

  • Now this is music.

Most pop artists should be ashamed of themselves.

  • This is my favourite Joe Jackson song.

  • Mine too......the best way to spend 7 minutes no doubt!

  • jefit, I agree also. This is beautiful and Joe has many great songs. He was totally underrated.

  • i totally agree "jetfit". JJ is an awesome artist. The only reason he's not as popular as Billy and Elton is because he's a hybrid punk/jazz player. He makes serious music while the others make "musak" and the 3:00 minute songs. I saw him live 20 years ago at Jones Beach during a serious storm and JJ put on a performance i will never forget. JJ is great.

  • " and i get tired of DJ's.....why's it always what he plaaays " - great line from a great tune

  • haven't heard this song ages, it's still splendid

  • This particular video, without images, has the best sound of those available. My own particular favourite recording is on the double live album, and JJ's notes about performing it are fantastic.

  • Now that's a song. Emotion, a voice and a piano.

  • Great Joe

  • Mr. Jackson seems to ask the questions in the back of my head in the wee hours. What is my place in the world? Why do I do what I do? Why is that girl wearing that outfit (as in is she trying to show me she's pretty, or is she trying to acknowledge her so she can be upset at me) . . . which is a bad way of saying he seems to ask the background questions often left unasked. I think basic morality and decorum are at forefront of all his music, from Geraldine and John, to One to One to . . . .

  • si belle mais si triste chanson

    JJ trop méconnu

    j'ai 38 ans et je l'ai découvert il y a 23 ans

  • This song always makes me wonder how it is that Joe Jackson was not as popular as any of the so-called great solo artists (Elton John, Billy Joel, etc,). I'll take JJ over those guys every time.

  • @jefit unfortunately its all about fashion , Joe cursed at manstream pop, by as you say i`d take Joe over those guys

  • @jefit I think JJ has millions of avid fans (like me) who think he is the greatest. The guy is just so prolific.

  • @jefit it has not been his intention to be as polular as that, i m glad he is still touring

  • And then there,s this.......

    WOW!!!!!

    Thanx!

  • This song makes me feel so sad, it reminds me of the love of my life, the one that I let get away. I remember slow dancing with him, in the kitchen, at 2am, after a night of laughing, talking, and eating ice cream. I always remember that feeling of love when I hear this song.

  • This one envelopes my senses...it's has such a raw stake on emotions. Love ya Joe !!

  • i'd forgotten what a legend this guy is, and a legend he is :-)

  • love it ..mmm..lovely memories..

  • I saw him live under the Red Rocks in CO. He is incomparable. You have to love an artist who gives everything to his muse. He leaves nothing on the stage. He gives every bit of his soul to the music, there will never be a critique from my lips for an artist who gives SO much. Joe is, was and always shall be magic.

  • This is one of my Favourites of Joe`s songs, the best version i think is the Live Version from the album "Steppin Out The Very Best Of Joe Jackson" british version,

  • No one can do what Joe Jackson does. It can't be duplicated. It just can't be done. Not with any of his music. 1 in a trillion, and even then........

  • GRAZIE!

  • There isn't one decent version of this great song on the net! What's goin on? The version on the double recorded in Austrailia/w best sax solo EVER should be posted...c'mon people!!!!

  • Let's get to work on this.

  • WHAT HAPPIN THE SAX SOLO !!!

  • que de souvenirs!!!!! j adore!

  • An Artist ahead of his time...Love him !!!

  • we are gonna add this to our new show so if you really like this song and it is past may 16,2009 then come check it out!

  • Oh, man, the memories that come back listening to this song ... I want to go back!

  • what year is this from? thx.

  • From Wikipedia...Jackson's 1982 album Night and Day paid tribute to the wit and style of Cole Porter (and indirectly to New York City).[citation needed] Night and Day was Jackson's only album to reach the Top 10, peaking at #4, and the cuts "Steppin' Out" and "Breaking Us In Two" were chart hits. The tracks "Real Men" and "A Slow Song" have pointed obliquely to the city's early 80s gay culture.

  • i love it

  • This song reminds me of my ex-husband. . .but

    it's still a GREAT song!

  • elegance defined musically...nice...

  • Thank you so much for putting up this video! Your text is simply elegant and captures the mood of the song perfectly.

  • Where did he play God he is a genius and hardly anyone knows....Dang!!!!

    Love him ...

  • "I want to get near you but I can,t even hear you" ;)
