  • Great video, you guys. Glad you're having fun with our game. Hopefully that dream match of Pats vs Colts you mentioned will be a reality overthere in a near future.

    Greetings from Florida, USA.

  • I'm American and I'm glad to see you guys enjoying this great game. Keep it up. Hopefully you guys can come here one day; experiencing a real Superbowl

  • This game was my first American football game...and my last. I only went out of curiously but left before the end.

NFL = boring waste of time..I'll stick to rugby and real football.

  • @ManlnCognito you are such a liar

  • i'm glad that you brits actually know american football (: usually you guys all jump on americans saying its a dumbass game and soccer (football) is better. i guess you just have to experience the sport first

  • Great video. It's good see some Brits with a nice understanding of the game.

  • Let's all stop being idiots and have respect for other sports that we are unfamiliar with. Being from America, I thought this was an outstanding video. Nice job.

  • I live in Denver and wanted to go see the game next year with the broncos in London. How much do good tickets cost? And how can I get them?? Please help a guy out...

  • ..and 'italians like AF'??..lol, really? Italy's a football (soccer) mad country with a growing following for rugby. You just can't compare the popularity of AF (not played or followed outside america) to soccer (a national sport in 90% of the world's countries). You just need to accept that unless the rules are modified to make the game a bit quicker and a bit more watchable, its never gonna grow as a sport outside the US...just the truth i'm afraid.

  • 'mattfaulkner' - 'shitty little fields'?...thats called grass roots rugby, people who play through pure passion and love of the game (you see the same thing in soccer), ..its something that just doesn't exist in american football, which is a cold, corporate, franchised sport which the colleges are forced to play. If you do some research you'll see that the top level rugby matches are played in front of huge crowds just like in NFL...

  • Hey guys.. Most Europeans are gonna support rugby and most of us Americans will of course support AF because it's our culture and we grew up watching them. I do agree that rugby is more popular around the world due to the fact that it is a simple game like soccer. AF is much harder to understand and it confuses the new people of what the hell they are doing. Why is there a flag? Why are they punting or kicking? American Football is more complex than any other sport. It's a chess match.

  • Guys don't get me wrong, if you find this stuff entertaining, then by all means go ahead, fill your boots! ..i'm just not sure about the idea of forcing it on other cultures, ..i mean, the game can last for about 3 and a half hours for fuck sake!...and in that length of time the ball is actually only in play for about 10 minutes. Most americans i've spoken to agree rugby is a far more entertaining sport.

  • commercials are a pain, obviously in college and high school american football the game is much quicker.

  • If NFL players took their helmets off they wouldn't survive a season. In Rugby, the hits and tackles are done from close range, in the NFL, players run full speed at eachother from 20 yards apart.

  • Holy hell, British fans for a real sport. Superb. =D

I'm always excited when the game comes to London, just eager to see if British fans enjoy the game. It wasn't very competitive this year, but that was fairly evident when they scheduled it well before the season began. Minnesota and Pittsburgh would have been a much better offering.

It's fantastic to see people outside America with a passion for the game, though. I saw jerseys from quite a few teams represented in the stands on tv. Cheers.

  • YE i am english and i play football great sport

    GO SEAHAWKS

  • YNWA

  • Have you even tried to play american football? i bet you wouldn't last. Football is all about teamwork, blocking passing and running. You won't score a touchdown on an individual effort, same thing with rugby you won't get a try without pitching the ball constantly. The flow is arguable a team has to get into a rhythm getting off the speed off the ball. Passion? common, it's their job same thing with the footballers in europe millions of euros.

  • 'serendipityuk' - absolutely, i can't understand why anyone would watch this rubbish over rugby, which is superior in every single way. I can't see any redeeming features to american football, ..no flow, no skill, no teamwork, no passion, no spirit, no entertainment etc etc. I think some people just get taken in by all the glitzy bollocks ..its typically american i suppose...style over substance

  • The point of rugby, is to constantly move the ball and get a try am I not right? I've play both as well as football "soccer". American football is totally different the style of play is militaristic those big linemen run a 40 yard dash on average 4.42. The plays in american football have routes/ blocking, coverage schemes on defense the impact of a nfl is way surpassed a rugby hit. a rugby hit is all from the waist down. With an american football hit even with pads the hits are bone crushing.

  • Disappointing. The game is far more cerebral than you seem to be able to grasp.

You speak on a game you clearly know absolutely nothing about past a cursory glance and a casually farted out thought. You would do well to educate yourself.

It's gigantic here, it's microscopic there. You have your, well, let's call them "simpler" games. So why not let the fans in the UK that have developed a sense of appreciation for it enjoy it?

No teamwork? Have you ever watched American football? Christ.

  • I have to agree with 'Jaylinkin' man I'm sorry. As someone who plays both rugby and american football I can honestly say much more goes into the plays and strategy in football. There's just as much teamwork and just as much passion as rugby also. No disrespect to rugby at all. I know that it's 'cool' to bash all things american in the UK but your just exposing your ignorance by making comments that are outlandishly false.

  • I use to say the exact same thing when I was a kid seeing football on television. It was on all the time and I could not stand it!!! I always wondered why they would send a guy into the middle of the pack, only to be tackled and brought down? A lot of the schemes did not make any sense. And yes, to me, it did lack flow. However, that soon changes as I really sat down and watched the games unfold. A big part of my liking football was actually playing organized football; it changed my perception.

  • Just because you don't like it doesn't make it shit. You have never experienced American Football properly. Go over to America, watch a game in a stadium and you'll change your mind. You may still love Rugby more, but it will change your nieve view on the world. All of the comments you made are invalid, except no flow which is true from play to play. I personally loath Rugby, especially the way they bum each other after every tackle. You never get that rush of HOLY SHIT rush of emotion either.

  • Bringing the pain there matt:)

  • Thanks Edd. You can check out the video diary from the link in the sidebar of the diary video.

  • fairs, I will, doing hwk atm.

  • Who gives a flying fuck. Follow a proper sport....rugby.

  • YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BE DIVERSE AND LIKE MORE THAN ONE SPORT! I WATCH AMERICAN FOOTBALL, PLAY FOOTBALL (casually), AM A RACING CYCLIST, A BLACK BELT IN TAEKWONDO. It would be bloody boring if everyone liked the same things and felt the same way about everything. CAN WE ALL PLEASE AGREE TO DISAGREE AND STOP BEING SO IIMMATURE AND NIEVE. Americans tend to like AF, baseball and basketball, Brits likefootballandrugby,Italianslike football, cycling and AF.Differentplaces, different

    cultures.Dealwithit.

  • if you hate american football so much, why are you watching this video?

  • Damn, Matt (guy on the right), was pretty close with his score prediction lol

  • Thank you (bows), thank you (bows again). :)

  • who said were gonna bump them off.

  • Why do they bother bringing this circus over here?..no one in the UK is interested in this cack, we have our own sports and if the yanks think they're gonna bump them off, think again! ..would they promote rugby in the states to this degree?..not in a million years, so why should we adopt their sports?

  • No one?. Tickets got sold out in 6 minutes right when it got on sale lol. And why do European's try to promote soccer in the USA? They come every year... If I remembered correctly.. AC Milan and Chelsea came to the USA and played our MLS team. Europeans are also trying to promote soccer over here just the same as NFL is trying to promote AF over there. And rugby? I'm not even sure if US has a pro rugby team or if there is i'm not even sure how u can get in 1.

  • The US has a national rugby team but they suck lol. I remember in 05 when Chicago Fire played AC Milan best game til' this day ever i've seen.

  • Well, they filled Wembley properly this year, the event was massively over subscribed and tickets sold out in 6 minutes, that's 4 minutes faster than Led Zepplin's last gig.

YOU don't have to adopt any sport, it is the wonder of democracy, but hundreds of thousands of Brits already have.

Part of the reason why the NFL and FIFA can promote all over the world is because they have money and support all over the globe, that is why they play in big stadiums rather than shitty little fields.

  • The Patriots are cheaters. We need the Buccaneer's to beat them, then the Patriots will have no chance of winning the superbowl (the famous curse).

  • cheaters? showing your ignorance of the whole spygate drama I see.

  • Of the what drama?

  • "spygate" and the tapes that were released showed that the Pats gained no competitve advantage. They were fined and stricken of the draft pick just to to the location of the taping. And if we are cheaters then the Cowboy's of the 90's are too, because J.J admitted to doing the same thing. Ok? Tardo?

  • will this be on bbc or is it just sky sports?

  • i might see you at the green man then, i think 45-17 because, their D will stop the bucs offense and tom brady is in great from and we are now witnessing the 2007 brady.

  • woooooooooooooooooo im going!

  • Well, hopefully it won't be a total blowout because those (while the plays are great fun to watch) are kind of boring.

But whatever, hope you guys have a great time at the game!

  • I'll be there, driving down from Leeds.

Ill be in my Ravens Jersey (R.Lewis) witha few friends (eagles fan and steelers fan)

I think score wise... Bucs 13 Pats 41

Just hope the weather is good, enjoy the game.

  • NFL wants a team in UK, but why didn't they try harder with NFL Europe?

Fans like to see some of their our kids playing so the NFL Europe should have made a point to play more locals.

It would be easier to have a Premier team in say New York because Americans do play Soccer and there could be a few Americans on that team.

    JMO

  • It's different with the premiership though, there is no way we would have a team outside england.

There are a few reasons... We have different divisions (relegation and promotion up and down) so any new team would have to start from the bottom and no current one would move.

also the fact that it is an international sport probably makes it more difficult too, why would we have an english team in America?

It would be much more difficult to have a premiership team in America.

  • Have fun at the game guys!

  • so which is more exciting to you guys: U.S. football or soccer football?

  • Super Bowl?! More like the Toilet Bowl!! terrible terrible matchup considering the pats blanked the titans which i thin are probably better than the bucs 59-0!! I hate the Patriots so I'm rooting for the Bucs but I don't have very high hopes.

  • Yeah ok, so the match-up is not that great, but as enthusiastic fans of the NFL, this is the only way that we get to see the teams in person and experience the NFL live, including tailgating. To be honest the match up is not great for a close game, this one ain't going to overtime, but we will hopefully get to see Tom Brady and Randy Moss and Laurence Maroney making plays, so from that perspective it will be very exciting, we don't see too many long-bomb touchdowns over here.

  • you guys just basically proved to me that your real football fans with that statement. good on you

  • Why in the hell are you people so excited about this terrible matchup? New England is an above average team this year and Tampa Bay is probably the worst team in the NFL. It makes as much sense sending Chelsea and Portsmouth to play a Soccer game in New York City. No one here would care! You Brits are funny!

  • We're excited because it is the only opportunity most British people get to see American Football live, in person. The match-up is not that amazing, unless you enjoy watching some spectacular plays , like we do (Brady to Moss x10).

Sending Chelsea and Pompey over would not be exciting, your right, but some fans would go, a minority yes, like the minority from Europe who are going to Wembley, but they go to get a glipse of how the Premier League runs, like we do with the NFL.

  • Also, the NFL are not going to send over an amazing game are they? The fans in the US would get pissed off, understandably, if the Patriots played the Colts at Wembley. Now THAT would be a great game, but it is not going to happen, so we make the most of what we get and enjoy it for te experience of going to watch an NFL game once a year. The Premier League would not dare send Chelsea and Man U anywhere but th UK to play because there would be a fan uprising. You cannot upset your core fans :')

  • yh but dude the games are chosen at random so i suppose they wuldnt send a gr8 match by choice but it is possible i mean saints v chargers was a big nfc clash last year

  • Mate, Chargers are AFC, they always have picked one AFC team vs on NFC team, and I'm pretty sure games are not chosen at random. This years game could have been close if the Bucs had not grown to suck over the offseason.

  • ok i was off about the nfc thing i realised that after i posted the comment lol but the teams are kind of random all the teams that could possibly flex there schedule to go to wembley go in to a draw i know my dad was journalist at the press conference where they held it

  • Lol, fair enough, can't mess with that knowledge. Are you going to the game?

  • hell yh it will be my 1st 1 cnt w8 got a 10 quid bet that brady throws an interception so i need a miracle

  • He may still do so, but throw for 10 touchdowns to make up for it. The Wembley experience is definitely a good one, have a good time if we don't see you :) Give us a shout if you see us!

  • You collected your 10 quid yet?

  • lol even better cuz brady threw 2 piks i got 20 it was gr8 to meet u guys btw i saw u guys going down the steps at wembley 2wards the tailgate party

  • The NFL has a mission that the Premier league doesn't. They want to market the NFL in a foreign country. They'd be more than willing to play a Patriots Colts game at Wembley, regardless of what the fans here thought. They have never cared about "the core fans" so why would they start? If they did care, why would they rob The Tampa Bay Buc fans of a home game so it can be played in England to appease foreigners? Hell yeah we are all pissed! Just as you all would be if it happened to your sport.

  • And I understand you are fans of the NFL and I am happy you are. Like Soccer, it is a great sport but what is wrong with coming over here to experience it... Ya know, the same thing that Americans have to do to experience The Premier League. That is where my argument lies, nothing personal. I am in support of NFL playing exhibitions in London, but regular season match ups? That is screwing the core fans of the NFL that are robbed a home game. With that said, I hope you all enjoy the game!

  • idk this coming from a Pats fan, everyone seems so pissed of about the game in England this year. I dont really see what the fans get upset about (except for Buccs fans, losing a home game). But the Pats. Its just annoying for the players but for me, its kinda interesting seeing my team playing in London to promote the NFL. I'll be watching that.
