  • god bless all American soldiers !

    greetings from Germany

  • to all the brothers of LZ X RAY MAY YOU BE HONORED FOREVER

  • where did you get the emblem of the eagle with patch and cross sabers

I seved with the 7th in viet nam during tet

  • Actually, I got it from a website that had several

variations on that patch. According to the site,

it was created not long after 9/11. Outside of

that, I don't know any more. However, I thank

you very much for your interest. Gerry Owen!

  • Cav.Scout forever 19D all for homeland Honor Gerry Owen and Glory.RVC

  • Amen! And a hearty Gerry Owen to you too, sir!!

  • K > D :-)

  • My husband was with an aviation unit of 7th Cavalry in Iraq. This is a beautiful film. Greetings from Ukraine.

  • I'm not really bothered by anyone's opinion

about Custer or his motives at Little Big Horn. The video isn't about Custer. It's about the 7th Cav. Custer is simply in this clip because his history includes having been in the 7th. I'm not a Custer hater nor a Custer lover. I didn't know the man so I have nothing to base my opinions on. History has given him a bad rap. Whether it was warranted or not depends on one's own judgment. As for 'dead white men,' what does color have to do with anything??

  • Agreed! anyways, honestly when I think of the 7th Cavalry, the first thing that comes to my mind is the battle of the Ia Drang Valley in 1965, which was both a tragic and heroic event that the 7th cavalry can always be proud of.

  • Here! Here! The Mighty 7th has always been at the forefront of many a battle. Although I personally think the 'White Man' should be blamed for everything since the crucifixion.

Nothing like having a nasty reputation to make the rest of the world fear us.

  • @mojoaudioguru Fuckin' A!!! Garry Owen! MF! "Panama Red" here. Those that served with me know who I am.(wink) I served with C trp 4th sqdn 7th US Goddamn Cavalry in South Korea 1974/1975. If you guys see this, I'd love to hear from ya! Yea, though I walk through valley of death, I shall fear no evil coz' I'm the baddest mutherfucker in the valley! Garry Owen! Motherfuckers!! .... Too much?

  • i have a question on the cav patch, the horse they never rode the river they never crossed, and cant remember the rest of the ditty, the horse representing the horse the slash represennting the river? any one know?

  • Gary Owen!!!!!

  • And a hearty Garry Owen to you Sir!

  • Nations always look to the past to gain strength for the challenges of the present. After all, when Germany went to war with the USSR, they referred to their panzer divisions as successors to the knights of old, off once again to do battle with the Mongol hordes.

  • Rather disturbing. Though the song is good enough.

  • what do you mean by disturbing?

  • If you mean the history of what the 7th Cav has done I don't think it is distrubing as you call it.......Soldiers have not changed-the times have.

  • The theme song is also used on the nationally syndicated talk radio "The Michael Medved Show." He uses it as the opening and closing of each of his segments.

  • Great video clip, God Bless the 7th Calvary they are truly America's best, and God Bless America

  • Can someone explain the Garry Owen badge please ?

  • The Garry Owen badge symbolizes the sword of a cavalry officer against the background of a horseshoe. Although the 7th Cav haven't used horses since WW1, the symbol represents the heroisms of yor. 'Garry Owen' is the title to an old Irish song of merriment. General George Armstrong Custer adopted the song for the fighting 7th after hearing it one night played in a saloon. He always rode into battle with that song playing, thereafter. Last time was at his demise at the Little Big Horn.

  • Thanks MOJOAUDIOQURU , Yes Garyowen is a place in County Limerick Ireland. ( I am Irish myself ! ) Garyowen rugby union football club is famous in europe for a kick in rugby.. the player in possession of the ball kicks if high and forward and then rushes to catch it himself before the opposition. It is a rousing piece of play which always lifts the fans ! Lots of teams use it today! Regards and thanks John or as it is said in the gaelic language " gur amaith agat " Sean.

  • Did you know that Custer was last in his class?

    Do you know why?

Because He was first in abstract thought.

Other Grads who were abstract in thought were Pershing, MacArthur, Eisenhower..

Now...can anyone name any other Graduate Of USMA?

    My Point!

  • Personal Note: Let Me Know When You Cross The River Brother!

  • For none but the shades of Cavalrymen Dismount at Fiddlers' Green. Though some go curving down the trail To seek a warmer scene. No trooper ever gets to Hell Ere he's emptied his canteen. And so rides back to drink again With friends at Fiddlers' Green. And so when man and horse go down Beneath a saber keen, Or in a roaring charge of fierce melee You stop a bullet clean, And the hostiles come to get your scalp, Just empty your canteen, And go to Fiddlers' Green.
  • Halfway down the trail to Hell,

    In a shady meadow green

Are the Souls of all dead troopers camped,

    Near a good old-time canteen.

    And this eternal resting place

    Is known as Fiddlers' Green.

Marching past, straight through to Hell

    The Infantry are seen.

    Accompanied by the Engineers,

    Artillery and Marines,

  • out front !

  • CHORUS

In the Fighting Seventh's the place for me,

It's the cream of all the Cavalry,

No other regiment ever can claim

It's pride, honor, glory and undying fame.

    And battle for the right,

And when the war is o'er

And to our home we're goin'

Just watch the step with your head erect,

When our band plays "Garry Owen."

  • GARRY OWEN!!!
