I can proudly say my family is anything but that^. My parents go to work and my siblings and I go to school. We eat a small meal at sunset and later if anyone feels hungry, they return for a snack. &although, food isn’t on our mind throughout the day (because trust me, u DO forget that ur fasting), u begin to build this great appreciation for food which in turn creates sympathy for the less unfortunate.

Anyways, Eid ul Fitr isn't just a celebration of food as many think it is. It marks the end of the holy month wherein the Quran was sent down- this definitely calls for celebration (I think). I can proudly say my family is anything but that^. My parents go to work and my siblings and I go to school. We eat a small meal at sunset and later if anyone feels hungry, they return for a snack. &although, food isn’t on our mind throughout the day (because trust me, u DO forget that ur fasting), u begin to build this great appreciation for food which in turn creates sympathy for the less unfortunate.

No I don't believe a book was sent down from the sky, I believe that verses of the Qur'an were sent from heaven and revealed to mankind through the prophet* which later was organised into a (holy) book. If that makes me a sheep, so be it. However, I can think of plenty of western ideas that made me anything but a sheep.

Asalam n Hi I 've read in some earlier comments that there r some people find islam very strict. Well am a muslim from Mauritius n there we get alone very well with not muslim people. We r so lucky that we live in hormony where everyone respect each others religious. And if you want to marry a muslim girl you will be able to see her face as most of the muslim normally do not cover the whole face (neqab) u can ask the parent her hand but will have to convert to islam. Actually what happens here in london is all the muslim women say they are sleeping at a friends house, then, get changed round a non mslims house and come clubbing with us!! @JDubs878 "barriers" is a real person that lives up to the saying of "let nothing get in your way" i've lived many different lifestyles and i've let nothing stop me from talking to anyone, whether they have some facial/mental/social deformity, hell i try to make those kind of friends because in society today, NO ONE wants to be with an "outcast", and that's what anyone that doesn't look "american/european" face. so it's a persons own fault for not taking that extra step to overcome differences

Here's the problem I have with Muslims. Why is it us westerners who seem to ALWAYS have to reach out to Muslims to make them feel at home? They choose to live and remain in western countries yet they continually want to change western ideas and beliefs to suit their needs. Don't like something? Protest it.
Look at westerners in Islamic countries and see how Muslims willing are to accomodate us? Not at all. You break a rule there, you're going to jail. That is Muslim hypocrasy for you.

@JDubs878 i understand where you're coming from, and to be honest, i don't think that's fair. but from what i see, when you're in a country, you need to follow that countries rules regardless. but when it does come to a "free state" there shouldn't be an issue, like you said, if you go to a western country, follow it's erm.. laws, the problem there is that there aren't any that restrict fighting for wants or dressing a certain way. everyone does it, blacks/hispanics/jews all fight for what

Why not go to Saudi Arabia; Yemen; Iran and Somalia where Islamic Sharia law is already in place. Why do others always have to understand Muslims and Islam and not other way round? @clance2002 I am muslim and American so I don't have to go anywhere, a lot of ppl leave their countries because they are poor countries not because they are trying to escape some bad rulings. The U.K., America, and even muslim countries don't just have one type of ppl they have all kinds, there are many christians in those muslim countries you speak of as well. So if someone wants to get more things catered to them it shouldn't be a problem because everyone does this not just muslims!

Muslims in the west have made religion an issue; a political issue! @SEEKIN4BENEFIT Once you leave your country, because you do not like the way your country is treating you and in the Islamic countries most reasons arise from religious suppression, then you should not EXPECT the host country to cater to your needs; There are a lot of immigrants in UK who are getting government handouts because they pretend they are muslims and can not work because they have to pray and have to wear a veil etc.
