Randomly stumbled on this video, through Rand, and while I agree with the basic premis I think you dramatically underestimate taught muscles, and a tan... and it seems to be a common flaw among intellectualls. Modern industrialists, programmers, ceo's, and lab techs... May need to be in sedentary work environments, but that's no excuse to not get ten min in the sun, and 20 min of excercise, or a couple hours on the factory floor, so that they're pleasurable to look at. It's not an Either Or.
Being a smart, sexy woman who refuses to compromise her mind, I have to say there's a big problem here.
Men -still- glorify the sex fiend, and I don't know any man who actually seems to appreciate my personality or my intelligence. Not beyond lip service anyways- the moment it's clear that I refuse to compromise what I believe to be good, all talk of how great it is that I think for myself stops, and "go back to the kitchen" starts.
Hmmmm, I know what you mean. I am a guy, and it is hard for me to find women who are not over-joyced to give up their values in the face of a relationship. Once I start talking about philosophy or values, they usually go right out the door. So, my advice is to make sure and meet new people, for finding our defnition of love is certiently not easy.
I've heard about VanDamme but know few details on the methods of teaching/learning. I was around and listening during a debate with a large supporter- Cropper- but I'll be looking it up to find out more. From the information I have now, it seems lightyears better than public school, but in comparison to un-systematic schooling- I'm not sure yet.
I'm interested in opening up an International School. One that is philosophically and academically similar to Lisa VanDamme's School: VanDamme Academy.
Hey Rosa, sorry it took so long for me to reply (2 days, but still, I actually haven't checked my YouTube account for some time now).
To be quick, my influences were Ayn Rand, but my earlier influences, believe it or not, were SciFi writers like O.S. Card (who is pretty much the opposite of Rand); his stories influenced me to value my life and those I hold important (though I have always held my life as my ultimate value).
As to why Ive become a teacher, to be honest, I just kind of fell into the job (Ive been teaching various things since I was 14, ranging from music to martial arts to English). Ive always been interested in Education and one day I plan on opening up my own private school.
I'm extremely interested in childhood development and un-schooling (to be exact), and so is my boyfriend. I think it's interesting you should mention it because we were actually considering for a while opening up a free school in the future, though my first goal is to open up a performing arts center.
Were you ever involved in freedomainradio by chance? I recognize your voice and you are in Japan, where a listener was in previous podcasts who sounds like you. This is why I asked.
The comment I removed... I accidently typed "Josh Beckett," the baseball players name. That was supposed to go somewhere else. Oh well, just wanted to clear that up.
I agree that if people know themselves, and know their values, then love is almost inevitable, and the one who loves less does not "lose". I just havent had such luck so far, but I think I essentially agree with what you have to say in this video.
Well, finding good people in general is a near-impossible task; so finding someone to share a romantic relationship with is rather difficult, to say the least haha.
The part where U talk about society's glorification of pretty-but-anti-intellectual bimbos reminds me of that song by Pink, "Stupid Girls." I don't like Pink's musical style, but the lyrics described a phenomenon I thought was familiar. :-P
I agree w/ U, ProximaMinor. I've seen many relationships that are power struggles, which is about 1 person trying to get the upper hand on the other, wanting to establish that 1 person is more needed than the other. That zero-sum approach is exploitative & exactly how NOT to approach relationships. The best relationships are win-win, where no 1 is trying to be the big boss. It's a fair xchange, not war. ;-)

What type of school are you interested in opening up? I'm a huge supporter of the un-schooling method, or free schooling. Are you familiar?
Also, what kind os music did you teach and what kind of martial arts? Just curious.
I'm learning music theory right now to understand more of what I already know, and I think martial arts are awesome.

Martial Arts: MMA

Great video. Really well put, and I much agree. What is your training, or who were your influences? Rand?
Also, why did you become a teacher?

I've never actually heard that song. I think I've listened to one of Pink's songs a long, long time ago.

There's a song that goes "love is a battlefield."
