I used to work with Gene at Tower Records Mtn View and I bought his old '59 Cadillac M-M Hearse from his Mom when the city threated to tow it away for it not being registered. Y'know, girls used to come in and stare at him at Tower Records and he was just oblivious to it all. Being depressed is an overwhelming thing. All these chicks thought he was gorgeous and I think 'cuz he was depressed he didn't even notice it. I hope he's at peace now. I truly do. Rest in Peace Gene.

I wonder how there were two camera angles catching his jump to death, from top to bottom, and how they knew to follow this guy as he walked across the bridge to the spot where he jumped? Could they have not called the police to come and stop him and get him the help he needed? Some people just need help. Some people are mentally ill. Depression is a very real thing. He didn't have a 'special someone' (only a girl he met on the internet that he wasn't into, she was still into her ex.) Gene hated when they were together and would run into him cause he would make a big scene and make Gene uncomfortable. Everyday he wrote that his stomache hurt. He was tryng to sell his stuff on Ebay and had no job.
in a way, Gene was a realist...sometimes I would be tempted to do exactly what he did...but I dont have the guts...still, it will end one day...thank God...it doesnt last forever...the emotional pain will end one day.

I watched The Bridge last night. I was amazed at the similarities between Gene & I. My name is Gene too. Our birthdays are a week apart. I've also attempted suicide twice and vow not to screw it up the third time. I also have long hair, prefer to dress in black, have black curtains, blankets and bedsheets in my home.
The differences are that I'm older than he was and I'm crippled from a motorcycle accident. If I was still fit and healthy I'd not try to leave the planet before my natural time.
