@BruceWhan -- I don't see how it's any different from a straight person singing it -- either way, you have to pretend that you're madly in love with someone you're not madly in love with in real life. Acting! :D
His voice is like silk ... and so beautiful. But, he lacks the pizazz of Aaron Tveit and the pure pathos of Michael Arden. They're all different performers, and are all wonderful, though.
@MyNameIsMadcock I completely agree. He's much better vocally, but if he could add that critical acting element that Arden does, then he would be amazing, but I just can't see that.
Michael Arden's feels more like a full performance.... I like the idea that the character is an awkward guy friend who hasn't had the guts to confess his love until this moment. This guy and Aaron what's-his-face try to take the romantic approach. Whatever. Ladies seem to like it.
I have been a loyal matt doyle fan from the beginning and watching how far he has come just makes me cry because he has accomplished so much!! i love you matt!!!!
Matt's version is good, but Coby Getzug (currently Mortiz on the 2nd national tour of Spring Awakening) has to be my favorite out everyone for this song. He has such a fantastic voice and he was such a good Moritz.
I absolutely adore this song, but Aaron Tveit's will always be my favourite. I love this version though. I really don't like Michael Arden's version. I think it's because he talks instead of sings...I heard it was really good and I've tried to watch it twice, but got bored halfway through. I've watched Aaron Tveit's so many times I've lost count, and Matt Doyle's I watched the whole way through, I'm not sure what it is. Personal tastes I guess. :)
Arguably one of the best performances of "Run Away With Me" - he was technically spot on (as with everything Matt Doyle does) but I just felt he was so hopeful the entire song. He exuded a naive sense of hope which I thought was perfect for the song.
I like it, but... I don't know. Maybe it's because i'm ABSOLUTELY in love with Michael Arden's version, but I find it not as good as usual. Lack of feeling ? He usually sings AND acts the hell out of his songs, and here it's just... not there. The vocals are perfect, but Yeah, the passion is definitely not Arden's. (...It's still better than Tveit's. Why does he sound SO cocky in that song o_O??)
Don't even try the "who-was-a-better-Peter" conversation though. I hate that.
Always following in the footsteps of Michael Arden, aren't you Mr. Doyle?
It's hard to beat Arden's. I just love how Michael forms his vowels. Matt's is a lot smoother. Still, I'm missing the passion that Arden had, which is weird because that's one of Matt's strengths.
Wow

@eisnergurlzz58 he was a swing but then took over the role of Hanschen in the Final Broadway Cast. And he played Melchoir on the 1NT in Toronto.

@justanote7 That's why they're all unique and successful performers <3 They're all beautiful in their own way.

@leadoff123 I will never see this song the same way ever again. It'll just remind me of Hanschen. Thanks. =P

Vocals are great, but he doesn't sell it any other way. That's what makes Arden's so good... he actually understands the words/character.

Out of all the performances I've watched I cannot pick a favourite, everyone plays the character so differently. This is how I see it:
Aaron - Let's do this thing!!
Matt - A little more calm, kinda solemn not really haha
Michael - So passionate
I just love all of them!
and now I'll got watch Coby's thanks to @bchengosu

@Evaieuh - I completely agree with you. Arden's performance of this song is much more emotional; he is also a MUCH better Peter.
