i use garage band a lot but I still dont really get the point of magic GB, but im willing to learn

Using the audition feature..its great for learning how different instruments blend with each other. You can learn really quick about mixing..and you can create and combine projects to make different arrangements of the songs. But, mostly its just fun to play around with the band on the stage...I don't know of another piece of software where you can mix-and-match so easily or change genres in a few seconds.

or you could just use it to jam along too if you get bored at home and don't feel like doing anything too serious, it'd be a great way to practice your improvisational skills.

You can play an instrument directly if you like, either by keyboard (if you are playing a piano, etc) or via MIDI or USB connection to connect the instrument direct to the MAC to do your own song if you don't want to take it via the option Chris did on this video.

Magic garange band does it for you so you are essentially making nothing.

Check out any school like Berkley in Boston or in california they do not use this crap. Protools is a very hard program to just record your own stuff.

It is but so was photoshop, illustrator, 3d Studio Maxx and other tools i use daily when i started out 8 years ago. But if you want to be apart of the industry you should try adn learn the tools that will give you a leg up or at least enable you to get a job or a client. Garageband will do neither one. it is only a toy, like guitar hero is.
