Dr. AAl-Hadid is currently chair of the department of African American studies at Tennessee State University. In this video, reparation was discussed. Reparation is the idea that African Americans should receive some kind of payment for the pain and suffering experienced during slavery. History 2020-1

Dr. AAl- Hadid talks about African Americans and how they did not immigrant to the United States under "free will" they came by force. Dr. Hadid talks about how African Americans were meant to be slaves and how they did not get paid for their work. Reparation plays a big part because he goes into talking about the child slavery and the genocides.

  • In the first video, Dr. Hadid informs us that the Africans were brought into the US under their free will. They were prisoners or war in Africa. Reparations is when someone has to compensate another person or persons for their labor or what have you. The Africans were not compensated for their hard work. I think Dr. Hadid did an excellent job of starting off his explanation of reparations.

  • Looking at slavery in a new way as to how Africans were brought over here which was not by choice but forced. It was asked that should their be some compenstaion for the pain, suffering and cruelty against Africans that was brought over here and was slaves.
