  • Man, the weirdest ads are from the 70's.

  • If I'm not mistaken, we had one here where I live. The top of the building where the sign was, was shaped like a castle. This was back in the mid to late 80's, it was pretty awesome inside of it. Of course what killed it was toys r us, kay bee, and walmart...

  • I was so mad when Children's Palace closed! I blamed Toys R Us and refused to get any toys from there again! Lol!

  • @jpayne4040 I know. Toys R Us is just shit living inside that place. My friend gave me a 20 dollar gift card and wasted it on speakers. Awful

  • This was our family toy store growing up in Buffalo 'till they packed up and left. And yes, the panda DOES sound like a gay jewish guy (woody allen).

  • Never heard of this store, this was before my time.

  • Didn't know he was Jewish?

  • I love this store so much.... I grow-up going to this store I was so mad when this store left des moines IOWA. down the street moved in toys R US . I never got over it

  • Sounds like he's kvetching.

  • The original pedobear, voiced by Mort from Family Guy.

  • Right!! LOL!!!!!

  • Never liked K-B Toys. Glad they are gone! I agree with poster who said they where a bunch of ingrate a holes! I wished Children's Palace was still around! My how times have changed!

  • KB toys are still in business as toy liquidators, not toy sellers. TRU is a toy seller, but Walmart is kicking their asses- it won't be long until you see another name on the sign. Their products or offerings aren't going to be enough to save their necks. they've been in financial trouble for a long time/kicking that can down the road for years. Toy sellers like arhtur kobacker and peter harris saw the big wally world train coming and got out in time- their companies remained solvent.

  • Woody Allen's Palace.

  • are you sure that isn't grandpa munster??

  • excuse me, mskurri, but when you say 'fools back east' you are referring to child world corporate. they ran the show at that time, not arthur kobacker's children's palace team ...and they also ran it into the ground. kobacker knew when to get out and his children's palace world 'o toys had carte blanche credit and grew the whole time he was there. he went west in 77 and took most of his team with him. they had some shoes to sell....

  • @swimmerB0B I came to Columbus in 79 to work at the newly relocated Kobacker Stores HQ. They sold a lot of shoes under the Pic-Way/Koby's/Pixs umbrella of stores. Awesome memories of the facility and co-workers. I worked for the in-house ad agency and we cranked out a ton of work.

  • Children's Palace Commercial (1979-1980)

  • I wish he had violently tumbled.

  • name all teh Children's palace or Child Worlds you remember

  • Notice he doesn't tell the Kid to WEAR a HELMET

  • @LWG1970

This was 1979. It was a decade or two later when parents began to realize how essential helmets are.

  • an effeminate Larry David sounding panda

  • I remember children's palace back then, there used to be one in columbus OH and one in Huntington WV, both are long gone. I miss stores like that.

  • @Dunes ''

I remember one of them in Columbus (Morse Rd). It was a cool place.

  • @userste Yeah,it was. Not only that the one in columbus got turned into a Media Play, but then look what happened--it went out of business as well. Geez, two in go--go bye bye that is. Man,I hate it when that happens. .

  • @Dunes

I was also bummed when the Ponderosa in front of it closed. That was my favorite place to eat. There is still one in Columbus that I know about (Great southern shopping center), but I'm rarely in that neighborhood anymore.

  • @userste OMG me too that and rent movies at Mr. Movies :(

  • No offense but he sounds like a mix of a Jewish / gay guy haha. But I do miss childrens palace.

  • he sounds like Snagglepuss

  • Sounds like a very concerned Horshack..

  • Sounds like a very concernd Horshack..

  • I remember their going out of business clearance sale. I got games, action figures, a Batman watch, dirt cheap.

  • It's Peter Criss!

  • its frigggin child world

  • "I love it, i love it!"

  • omg i feel old

  • The Panda sounds like "Snagglepuss".

  • holy fuck that panda is fucken gay as fuck

  • We had a Children's Palace, but after Toys R Us came to town it's days were numbered.

  • Why is the panda jewish?

  • ,,I think thats Woody Allen or his brother and he probably owns the place located in NY City.

  • lmao1!!

  • Gay Panda.....I bet from San Homosexualisco

  • i remember my mom lost her wallet in that store when it was closing down in memphis

  • This was a pretty big store. The one near me at the time (Cincinnati, OH) was shaped like a castle. This was THE place to get Transformers back in the 80's. They also had a fair amount of NES games back in the late 80's as well from what I remember of it.

The store closed in the summer of 1992 but not before basically giving SNES games away. I got Street Fighter II for basically nothing compared to other stores charging full price.

  • Wow, was that toy store as big and plentiful as it looks?

  • Peter Panda is a little creepy...0_0

  • I was a manager for Children's palace in Colorado. Great store, wonderful times. So sad that they closed because of the fools back east didn't know how to run a business.

  • That panda sounds like a gay ass Woody Allen. I'm not cracking jokes here. Just listen to em.

  • @GatorsNation Yes he does! LOL!!!!

  • I miss this chain, but the stores got junky near the end.

  • omg peter panda sounds so gay!!

  • Bought my fist NES game at Children's Palace and other World of Nintendo stuff cheaper before its bankruptcy in 1992 which meant I had to buy my SNES games from Babbage's.Toys "R" Us has a better mascot(Peter Panda was too gay)and a better slogan but I still hate Toys "R" Us since they put all the toy store out of business including another store K·B Toys.

  • i have a group about it, you cna join it

  • @loomp

    Wal-Mart did that

  • @nomadcowatbk What gay mascot did Wal-Mart have? No it was Toys "R" Us that killed Children's Palace even though Wal-Mart is a monopoly it not a toy store ether and Toys "R" Us gets a lot of exclusives even Wal-Mart can't get and also the reason K-B Toys failed was their selection and prices sucked and all their employees where a bunch ingrate A-holes too.

  • He sounds like he's trying to imitate Snagglepuss's voice.

  • please bring back the child world video :(

  • I was more of a toys r us fan

  • I think he sounds GAY, lol!

  • Classic! I remember how this store had toys that I did not see at Toys R Us when I was a kid growing up in the 80's in Toledo, OH!

  • Me too! On Monroe St. Loved that place!

  • I remember Children's Palace, it's a shame that they are no longer in business anymore along with Lionel Kiddle City.

  • ah yes. I remember this place. In Kentucky it was Children's Palace and they always had all the GI Joes a kid could ever want. I hate Toys R Us with a passion. I am surprised they have not been killed by Wal Mart yet.

  • In Illinois, this store was calld Child World, and the ads used the same jingle and also had Peter Panda. The outside did look like a castle but I don't know why it didn't hve the Children's Palace name.

  • Child World and Children's Palace were owned by the same company. In Charleston, SC we had a Children's Palace (building looked like a castle), a Toys "R" Us and a Lionel Playworld all within a couple of blocks of each other. They effectively served to drive one another out of business - now none of them exist. Children's Palace is a Ross Dress For Less, Toys "R" Us is a Best Buy and Lionel Playworld is an Office Depot. Toys "R" Us survived the longest and closed only a couple of years ago.

  • does anyone have an older one with this jingle?

"hooray for Children's Palace, it's a hap hap happy happy store, with miles and miles of toys, for happy girls and boys, and much much much much more"

  • OMG!!! Do ya have anymore of these adds? I remember my mom would always go to this toy store instead of Toys R Us when I was a kid in the 80's. I liked it, but I was always pissed that I never got the chance to see Toys R Us until this place went out of bizz. What happened to Children's Palace? I know the building in my towns still standin. Its a Marshalls clothing store now.

  • Peter Panda's sounds like Woody Allen :)

  • I meant his voice does
