Howard Dean is planning on reenacting his famous scream when Øbama announces he is nominee to herald the END OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AS WE KNOW IT! I can't wait to see it.
The media really blows this thing up...so tired of them hyping up everything. The bottom line at the end: even in Hillary's best case scenario, Obama would still lead in delegates.
And the Republican party put forth good ol' McCain who is a great person, he spoke at my school and I got to ask him a few questions afterwards. But he doesn't have set ideas on a ton of issues. In multiple interviews he has flipped his stance on certain ideas in the same interview. That is the last kind of person we need in the oval office.
Just what magic formula connotes "qualified" in your book Tamarlane? They are both infinitely more qualified than G.W. and McSame isn't even a rational option.
The real "terror" is the corporate newsertainers who spread fact deficient manure to sustain a large crop of two legged mushrooms that wait eagerly in the dark for the next load of crap. A poorly informed citizenry is a greater danger to our democracy than any politician.
Thanks for asking. First, to qualify for the job IMHO one must have some executive experience. Running a large state as governor would qualify in my book. Second, an abiding love for this country, and dedication towards maintaining the standards and mores of the USA. A belief that the US is a good place that does good things for her people and for the rest of the world.
Lastly, since I am limited to 500 words here, I would prefer someone dedicated to protecting the US from outside
Your "ideals" are in tact as are the ideals of most Americans. However, believing that America is a good place does not mean that it's government always does good Just has electing a former governor does not mean you have a person with executive skills or good judgment. GWB is a primary example.
America is in little danger of a real threat by other countries or outside agents. The perceived threat is one manufactured by politicians and corporations to garner and hold power. Our "standards and mores" are constantly under attack by them. We need a credible media for citizens to have a reasonable and informed discussion.
Troll, Tamarlane? Good grief! Just which premise do you disagree with and why? Do you think that the Main Stream Corporate Media is a credible and reliable source of information for the American citizen? Do you think that G.W.B is a competent executive? Do you think that everything the U.S. Government does is good? Do you think that terrorists are our greatest threat?
Troll: "someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion." Do you think your statement that I responded to fits this description? I honestly thought that I guy who rides a bicycle and digs Big Joe Turner might make an interesting debate. I only responded to YOUR statements.
Chill out dude. US is still far ahead in terms of military and economic power. To sustain it, we should badly improve our education system. We do that we would be number 1 for a long time to come. We need to worry about US from the inside not the outside...
From the inside. Yes. Look at our choices. Two socialists and one nutty old guy in the race fro President. Those are our choices. (We are screwed).
From the outside we have economic warfare conducted by China, Russia, the Middle East, some South American countries. Some European countries.
Improve our education system We should have bulldozed it in the 60s. Worthless waste of money, our public education system. I think of Paul Simon's song "Kodachrome" every time I hear "education".
China, Russia and all other places are still dependant on the US for their economy. There is a saying here : If America coughs, Asia collapses. That is true for the whole world. Look at BNP Paribas and other banks who went to their knees recently. As for our education system, we must not scrap it, we need to get more involved in it. Learn from Asia in this matter. US does not take education seriously enough. If US can survive Bush for 8 years, we can survive anything.
The US is quickly descending to a 3rd world country.
Back in the 90s, when the decisions were promulgated to become a global economy, the decline of America began. There is a finite amount of wealth in the world. As the rest of the world comes up, the US goes down. More money there, less money here. Oversimplified I know. But true. It is less true now that other economies depend upon America. Chinese and Russian and Middle Eastern and European interests
are all working to increase their hegemony in the world.
Socialists have made great inroads in America and the result will be a redistribution of wealth. Steal from the rich to give to the poor.
This kills the incentive, the profit motive, for people. Everyone will work for the government in some capacity in the future. We will slowly become like the USSR when they all "pretended to work, and the government pretended to pay them."
It's my understanding that Clinton will not agree to anything less than a full seating of all delegates and there is no way the committee will agree to this. Therefore, Clinton will appeal the committee's ruling, and there will be another hearing weeks later. Clinton won't like that ruling either. She'll appeal yet again. And it will go to the convention. The Democrats will then have 8 or 9 weeks to repair party divisions and they will lose. I'd say it's fair to call that a nuclear option.
I don't know if someone else posted it, but I think Hillary's nuclear option invloves reaching that compromise, but then pitching the popular vote all the way to the convention, where the device will detonate
PLEASE... lose the green background on all of these vids! Green makes Caucasian people look even more gross than they make themselves look already (I agree with the commenter below - Sargent looks like he just rolled out of bed and got on camera).
Sorry, but it's not that simple and this could still go nuclear. What works for Hillary is a deadlock or unresolved decision. The ball is then kicked down the road 3 mouths to the credentials committee at the convention. Three months more of Hillary's continual manipulation of the stupid and no candidate before the election. Without a definitive outcome May 31, McCain wins.
Traditionally, young people have been critical of, and impatient with, the established values and behavior patterns of society. They desire change, and experience frustration when it does not occur. Their idealism leads them to believe that those in power, as well as established institutions, have failed to meet the legitimate needs of various groups. To them, social problems and their solutions stand out in stark clarity.
In addition, during adolescence higher-order thinking skills become engaged; it is a time of intellectual curiosity, of seeking truth. Youths are intellectually and spiritually open to new ideas. Unfortunately, they have not achieved the balance of experience and maturity that would enable them to sort truth from illusion and reality from fantasy in all situations. They have not gained sufficient sophistication to evaluate - critically and methodically - complex philosophies.
Many youth movements play upon this naive idealism and intellectual curiosity. The young person may be challenged to answer the clarion call to join a group that professes to offer a vision of a perfect society, one in which all injustices are rectified. After all, how could any self-respecting person, caring for the world and its people, not be willing to give this "new way" a try?
The personality profile of an adolescent susceptible to cult overtures might include identity confusion or crisis; alienation from family; weak cultural, religious, and community ties; and feelings of powerlessness in a seemingly out-of-control world.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Studies have indicated that a surprising number of cult members come from democratic and egalitarian homes and upper socioeconomic levels, rather than overpermissive, overindulgent, dysfunctional, and poor families. In fact, Andron (1983) reports that many cults focus on the recruitment of gifted and creative adolescents. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to delineate a precise portrait of potential adolescent cult members.
Are you a member of Obama's cult (most under 30 years-old)?
Nope, I'm a 38 year old lifelong democrat high-school dropout from a poor broken home upbringing who makes more than 50K a year. Figure that one out. Oh and I support Obama.
Far as your tired old cult meme goes, who has the dead-end supporters following her to the bitter end in defiance of all evidence and rationality? Christ, you're a douchebag.
Actually 2025DPlaza from the studies I've read many cultists come from backgrounds that discourage objective thinking and healthy skepticism, and the reason they target young adults is you are correct in that MOST are searching for something to believe in, but only SOME are malleable in their belief systems. However to say because young people who support Obama because they want, and believe change are irrational and cult-like is extremely disingenuous and fallacious.
I wouldn't put it past the Clintons to threaten and blackmail the committee members to vote against their own personal interests and give the Clintons exactly what they want.
The Clintons will stop at nothing.
The Clinton cancer must be excised from the Democratic party. No compromises, no VP, no Supreme Court appointments, nothing.
And when Hillary comes up for reelection in New York, all people of good will should support a primary challenge to take away her seat.
What the Clintonesque lying dogs are not telling us is that all FOUR candidates AGREED to not even have their names on the Michigan ballot. Hillary of course lied and put her name on the ballot anyways !! Now she wants all the delegates with none for Obama !!
Rules, rules, rules, or we can all go back to the jungle (warfare).
Yes, but Greg, what about these committee members? Do they have careers of their own? Are they going to allow themselves to be perceived as taking a political posit-? ... Oh... what's that... you-you've answered that three times already? Oh, I see, I see...
Jesus, Greg looks tired. Too many hours on conference calls with Harold Ickes.
The Nuclear option has been mischaracterized by the media. Hillary's real nuclear option if she chose to go that way is to begin a process that wouldn't end until the convention in August. Basically if Clinton didn't like the results at the R&B committee she has the right to appeal to the Credentials committee in Denver. This would mean that the magic number would be in doubt until Aug and this keeps her alive.
The reason why this would be considered a nuclear option is that once it starts, there's nothing that can be done to stop a fight on the convention floor. That's a fight that Hillary would lose, but it would split the party and essentially hand McCain the election in the fall.
I'm not saying that this is the route that Clinton is planning to go, but it very clearly is an option available. What Greg and the media have described is simply where it SHOULD end, not where it could.
Greg, buddy, work on some inflection. What's the point of a video segment if you don't give it any life. At least when I read your writing I can infuse my own emotion.
I actually think it's a huge victory for Obama that these proceedings are going to be public. It will be next to impossible, I think, for Clinton's representatives to hijack these proceedings in a room full of reporters. The people on this committee are going to look around at all those cameras and their natural instincts to hew to the middle are going to kick in. For once, I'm grateful for political cowardice.
It IS that Nuclear. We just haven't figured out what her crazy follow up step is after she gets a few more delegates from MI and FLA. She can't be trusted. She must be stopped.
It seems as if Hillary has been talking of something resembling the "nuclear option" for Iran. Well, maybe the nukes will fly sooner or later. What the hell!.. Why not Hillary. She could push the button first and win win win. She could be a nuclear hero or go down in Nuclear history. Somebody might be around to read it... maybe, or it could become part of the oral tradition as rats continue to become the next dominant species.
the Clinton's are so egotistical and phony. Word has it, for instance, that those who wanted to see Hillary win the Presidency this election actually voted for Bush over Kerry in 2004 so she could run now. I wouldn't have believed that, except I have played close attention to how she has (mis-)run her campaign. Machiavellian.
