  • Do all these features come with the s2 as well?

  • Very Very good tutorial ... congrats .. you already know the points you wanna mention , you dont have any problems expressing yourself and even a begginer will have no problem understanding you !!! :D

  • @sotosthe1 Totally what i was thinking and the first thing i do when it comes to my tutorials. LET THEM UNDERSTAND YOU!!!!

  • Good!

  • the xone filter and Eq from the mixer is a pure crap compare to the real Xone i cant make the switch and that piss me off

  • @johell667 What do you expect? Its a software emulation, not an analog mixer. However I have made feature requests to improve on the internal mixer. Stay tuned! Just a tip though - the lower the latency you can run the software at, the more it feels like a real mixer. - Endo

  • Hands down the best tutorial I've ever seen. I'm a producer for the UK sending big love to you endo !!!

  • @bounceheavenofficial Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. More soon! - Endo

  • Check my mixtape out, made on the S4!!:D

  • how do i get that layout that he has for the traktor software? with the mixer and stuff on the screen?

  • @lcassidy4 on the top right of the window theres a scroll bar that says essential, extended, browser, and mixer. the most detailed is the mixer layout

  • @lcassidy4 I'm going to re-upload my layouts soon at djendo dot com slash traktor

  • Hi Guys,I am new to digital stuff but very keen on this S4 - actually dying to get one. Any ideas on hooking up my two Stanton T92 USB turntables to this controller? I want to combine my old school feel with the new age. Looking forward to an abundance of feedback from you smart folk.

  • @WCaptainCohn NI sells an update for S4 users who wish to use timecode control with the S4. Then you can plug in your turntables into the S4 and use timecode vinyl to control your decks.

  • hi daniel tosh

  • Hey, at least I don't look like Jesus - Endo

  • he reminds me if daniel tosh

  • @burntpancake1 LOL People keep saying that to me lately. - Endo

  • @DeeJayEndo thanks for getting back to me much appreciated !

  • thanks for sharing this nice tutorial.

Can u please tell me where did u got that green fluorescent usb cable......I really want it ^^

  • @Pl4sm0 I got one of them on ebay, and the other was a gift from DJ Richie Santana from NYC. However the ones on ebay are all sold out unfortunately. Let me (and everyone else) know if you find some good ones online because there are a lot of people asking about these!

  • can you customise the lights as well?

  • @ElMaco97 With the S4 the mapping can't really be changed, you can just add your own layer to the mapping, so the LED's can't be changed (in theory). I'm sure there's a workaround but I wouldn't mess around with it.

  • i have a problem. the loop knob doesnt seem to be working properly. when i make a loop, andturn the loops know, it doesnt step down as you would expect 32/16/8 etc. it goes from like 32 to 2. really big jumps, this is really frustrating. also when browsing my library with the main browser know, it skips every second track, which is also very annoying. i really hope someone can help me. thanks

  • @garbo196 That means you have multiple instances of the S4 mapping loaded. Go to preferences - controller manager - and click the Device dropdown menu. My guess is you'll see multiple S4 mappings in there. Click on the duplicate mappings, then underneat the device dropdown menu click Edit - Delete. Don't be afraid of deleting the wrong one. Even if you delete them all, when you unplug and plug the S4 back in it will automatically reload the S4 mapping.

  • @morry247 sorry bro typed ur name wrong last msg's third time lucky lol

  • @morry sorry

  • @mory thanks for replying bro! Wow how did u know I was from Scotland I'm freaked out lol yeah their going on eBay new from the states for £570 my wife's aunt lives in ny so was going to get her to buy it and send it over as a gift to avoid import tax which is a bugger lol ! Can't wait to get it got just about every native instruments product and their all top notch!

  • It is a universal adapter with uk , eu , usa and Asia/Japan plug heads you use the plughead on the adapter for whatever region

You are in , Rub-a-Dub records in Glasgow

Are cheaper than native instruments (£770)

Rub-a-Dub £750 for the s4 I got mine last week , best piece of equipment yet . All native instrument products are from Germany , not the USA, is it a lot cheaper in the USA. ?

  • @DeeJayEndo hope u can help ? My wife has got her aunt who lives in the usa to buy the s4 and send it to uk for my b'day ! What I'm worried about is will it work as the US and Uk have different voltage systems? Thanks

  • @MrRjzam The S4 should come with different power adapter attachments for each country so it will work fine. Enjoy :)

  • Comment removed

  • @TheMiele01 You can scratch with the Jog Wheels on the S4. Check out Shiftee's videos where he demo's scratching on the S4 with the jogwheels

  • what do u need for computer to it?

  • shall i get one ?

  • hey where did you get that usb cable? :P

  • does the s4 also work with built in mac book speakers ? (just with usb connected)

  • @Wi7ardBalls yes but with limited audio output. you cant cue or pre-listen any channels.

  • @Spinhead71 so you don't necessarily have to connect the s4 directly to speakers ? can you hook up speakers to the mac book (logitech z623) and then hear the sound over these speakers ?

  • @Wi7ardBalls nope. it will be pointless if you route your speakers that way. best thing to do is hook up your ligitech to the TKS4 audio outputs.

  • @Spinhead71 yes but how and exactly what cable do i need ? :S

  • @Wi7ardBalls get a pair of 1/4 mini pin to rca adapter cables. you can easily grab them over at radioshack if you live in the states.

  • @Spinhead71 i actually live in switzerland...

  • @Spinhead71 but thanks anyway

  • when i installed the traktor software on my computer i don't have the "traktor pro s4" in the upper left corner but i've got just only traktor pro. And my grid and stuff like that is also very different.. Does anyone know what i did wrong or how to fix this?? Please help and thanks!

  • @nocis16 not sure what youre encountering. can you be more specific? did you try to reinstall TS4? what TS4 version are you trying to install?

  • if i install the software on 2 computers, and later get another comp, could i uninstall the traktor software from one of the computers and re-install it on the new one?

  • @music18500 as long as youre using a licensed software it's very possible. If you got the S4 software and later migrated to TP2, you have to send NI a request for you to install the software to another comp.

  • 1 person still uses virtual dj

  • Analyzation? Whatever happened to Analysis? ;)

  • @flogbag Its still there. Turn it on in preferences - file management

  • @DeeJayEndo Thanks dude ;)

  • Can this work with both a Kontrol X1 and a Maschine together?

  • @ThESToNeDSTuDeNT yes you can load as many mappings as you would like into Traktor and use as many controllers together as you want

  • @DeeJayEndo oh alright thanks alot man

  • With the S4 is there any need for the X1??

  • @DVillalos Yes more control of the Sample Decks. There is a sample deck mapping for the Kontrol X1 where you can control each sample's volume and filter knobs, as well as mute and retrigger sample slots

  • Great video, very useful, had a lot of ambient sound while watching it though so I put on closed captions, well, that was some epic lol.

  • @djomni9 oh man... with the closed captioning that is pretty epic. LOL!

  • thanks man. i'm just starting with traktor, but i've used virtual dj. so i understand the concept, but not the software. so this was a really helpful transition.

  • WAIT??? thsi is USB powered??? If so Epic Fail!

  • @jonpaulevans It is USB powered, and also has a power supply. You don't need to use the Power Supply (It works fine with just USB power) but the LED lights are much brighter when you have the controller plugged in with the power supply.

  • @jonpaulevans it can be just bus powered, but you get better performance with a power adapter

  • with reason 5??? this is posible playing--

  • what will happen with the S4 if you change a knob on the computer? will it blow up? :P

  • @afferik No, the software will override the knob position. When you turn a knob on the S4, the S4 will override the software's knob position. Make sense?

  • Great video bro - keep it up.

  • how do i set decks c and d to song decks instead of samples????

  • @victor451219 Click on the arrow under the Deck Letter (Under the letter C and D in Decks C & D) and change the Deck Type to Track Deck instead of sample deck

  • very well explained, im new at djing and i still get most of it, looks alot simpler than any other controller, and its much better cuz it allowes you to beat mach much quicker as you mentioned

  • lies 0:40 torq xponent that is all

  • hehehe... 2:37... gay knob

  • @ROFLWAWFUL it says gain nob, not gay nob.

  • @tsangfold and THAT is the punchline

  • i set the sound to come out of my TV on the audio device tab, but now i cant hear anything thru my headphones . what should i do??

  • @assais why don't you just plug the master output into your TV's aux input and then use the S4 as your soundcard. Then you will have your monitor (cue) outout in the headphones

  • do i have to have software or does it come with it when i buy it??

  • @010hlong it comes with the software

  • the magician...hehehe

  • I know you are using Mixed In Key for the keys... but what setting did you use to have the key display like that on the right corner of the song playing?

  • @MrDunztar The setting is in Preferences - Decks. You can customize what you see in the Deck Header.

  • this thing looks awesome.

too bad they got the worst dj ever to show it.

  • I don't have a jobwheel calibration option under preferences. All other calibration is available, i.e. FX KNOBS, EQ AND FILTER, FADERS AND CROSS AND CROSS FADER. . . . does anyone know how I can get the calibration option?

  • @blksix6 Update your software to the latest version

  • could someone please help me and tell me what else I need to produce/compose music?

  • I can't wait to buy mine ^_^

  • hi can anyone tell my why whenever i push "keylock" on the s4, the tone drops ? how do i keep the tempo but remove that lowish sound effect?

is anyone else experiencing this? ;)

  • @fealmor Double click on the key knob to set it to zero. If you don't see it, turn it on in preferences - Mixer.

  • @fealmor Double click on the "KEY" knob on Traktor's Mixer to reset it to zero. If you don't see the key knob, you can show it by going to preferences / mixer and turn on "filter/cue/KEY/gain/balance"

  • What song is it at Around 2:47?:)

  • @51Motocross Butch - No Worries

  • Hey at around 3:20 you mentioned recording mixes... Is there somewhere on Traktor Pro that you can record it? If not, what's the easiest way?

  • @tommyray17 Yes, Traktor Pro has built in recording capability. Are you using the S4 or are you going out to a DJ mixer? If it's with the S4 you will be able to record it internally. If you are using a mixer you'll need to run the output of your mixer back into your Audio 8 using an RCA cable.

  • @DubSpot Hey, my Fx buttons aren't working they are like left on the top or right on the top, they aren't working. Do I need to connect them with my decks or something? Please help..

  • @lleeooa65 You need to assign them on Traktor's mixer section. Click on the number 1 and 2 buttons to assign each deck separately to effects panel 1 or effects panel 2. If you don't see the 1&2 buttons on Traktor's mixer, turn them on by going to preferences - decks and turning on "Filter + Key + Gain + Cue + Balance"

  • @DeeJayEndo Good, thanks! Worked!

  • @tommyray17 on the top right hand side u got your fx buttons on display on screen there is a picture of a tape click on it then the record button will appear.

  • How can I adjust my Play and Cue buttons? They have a little delay when a press them the music will not start right away.

    Please help.

  • @mettlddomami make sure the tracks that your triggering are beatgridded correctly. You may have a little silence before the cue-point, check out our beat gridding tutorial on our channel to learn more.

  • @mettlddomami Make sure you are using the S4's sound card not the computer sound card. The computer sound card will give you this lag. To do this you would use the S4's output directly to your amp and use the S4 as the default sound device.

  • @mettlddomami That sounds worrying, im thinking of buying one of these and will be using it to dj dubstep so will be cueing live quite alot, so having a little delay is not an option. Let me know how its worked out for you man, cheers.

  • can the traktor kontrol play music thru my laptop speakers using only the USB wire? Or it can only be listened thru external speakers?

    Please reply

  • @mettlddomami Yes, you can control the decks with the S4 but still run the sound out of your computers internal speakers

  • .How much does it cost?

    .do you need an amp?

.does it have any cd slots?

.do you need a audio interface?

  • @3run4ever848

    It's $899 MSRP

It doesn't play CDs, it's just a controller

It has it's own audio interface built in

  • @DubSpot thanks man but it will be around £750 here, so that is quite a lot but is it worth it???

  • @3run4ever848 YES. Its everything you need to control everything in Traktor and the setup is super easy (2 cables + Power adapter).

  • does the s4 software have the same fx as traktor pro?

  • @enjoi46 yes, it has the 25 effects that Traktor Pro has.

  • Very clear walktrough man! Nice.

  • i like the s4 but i never used 4 decks,,,,,,or traktor software....i only use virtual dj

  • so what do i do with scratch pro and audio 8 dj I just bought if I get this?????

  • thanks for the info i have a numark ns7 i was going to buy a Traktor Kontrol S4 in the near future i was just wondering if it would be easyer in learning how to use it as the ns7 was easy to learn on . the Traktor Kontrol S4 has 4 decks in witch i was very interested in learning how to use it thanks for info.....you the man

  • @fluchiano I think if you are already comfortable with the NS7 you should find the S4 somewhat intuitive. It's similar in that it's a non-turntable based controller. The software side probably has a bit of a learning curve but you should be able to get up and running pretty quickly.

  • Hi,

Question - i updated all the necessary driver and software for Traktor Kontrol S4 and i am facing that i can not play the music without connecting my macbook pro to the s4 controler / deck. possible to assist me on this matter. Thank's in advance.

  • @rezasumali2000 you need to have the computer and S4 connected for it to work, it's a controller, not a stand alone piece of equipment.

  • @rezasumali2000 .............................

  • Im guessing you are using a external sounds card yeah? not the internal card u get from s4? Anyone here set up live and traktor pro on the pc and how did it go with cpu usage as seems like alot of tweaking needs to be done for windows side? One more thing if you are using the external card Im guessing u are using the external sounds card headphone 2?

cheers on the tips 2? hope to see one with reason..oh cause u work for NI any update on the new drivers for windows?

    cheers

  • @DjStashE If I use the S4 software, I would use the S4 as a soundcard as there is no external mode with Traktor S4. I just set up Live and S4 on PC. Yes, there is some tweaking that needs to be done. Stay tuned for my video on how to optimize your PC for DJing on the Dubspot youtube channel. As far as NI updates, there should be more info announced in February.

  • @DeeJayEndo Yo Endo, that's a Stussy shirt right? Big ups! What does it say?? Loving the S4 by the way, thanks for these little demos/tuts too 8)

  • was wondering i also have a ( MASHINE ) and is there any way in hooking it up with the Traktor Kontrol S4 ......? what kind of cables i need or dose it recognize it when i install the Traktor Kontrol S4 ....havent bought the Traktor Kontrol S4 YET!! but will soon useing a numark NS7 for the time being but im realy wanting to learn the Traktor Kontrol S4 .....just need to make sure everything will work just right.......thank you for your help.

  • @fluchiano dude, just so you know, once bridge comes out for itch... you might not want to give up your ns7 for this bit. just depends on how you work

  • @gomachols the bridge definitely offers a lot of interesting creative options although the two are quite different. It's all about finding a setup that works for you.

  • @fluchiano You can definitely sync Maschine to the Traktor Kontrol S4. I'll have a video on this soon. You can also use Maschine as a MIDI controller for the S4 software (this is what I do). It all works like a charm :)

  • @fluchiano Yes, You can use Maschine with the Traktor S4. Check out my video called "The Mothership" on the Dubspot youtube.

  • thanks deejayEndo for info

  • Hey Dudspot, Can u midi map the s4 with ableton?

  • @patsavage1212 Yes you can MIDI map the S4 to control any program that receives MIDI. You just hold the shift button and press "Browse" to go into MIDI mode

  • hey do i need to download drivers to this right????? or is it just plug in and play???

  • @fluchiano You would just install the S4 software, and download and install the update. This will install all the necessary drivers. Then its plug and play!

  • @fluchiano If you've installed the S4 software it will install the drivers as well, then it will be plug and play!

  • @fluchiano Just plug in and play.

  • Can i download this software ?

  • @SuperErin21 check out native instruments web site.

  • endo you rock

  • can i just use this with scratch pro?

  • @greg0716 this is designed to work with the latest version of Traktor which includes the sample decks, loop recorder etc.

  • Traktor is a nightmare to beat warp that's why I use Ableton otherwise I'd probably play around with it. This controller looks like a lot of fun tho!

  • @coolshit28 it's really not that difficult to beat grid in Traktor.. If you have music that is performed live it can be a pain but I tend to use pro tools to warp those tracks and then play them using Traktor..

  • @djjasonpaul Mm I just don't get why the beat warping isn't simple like it is in Ableton. I can literally beat warp a tune in about 5 mins if that. I've got the latest version of Traktor just 'cause I thought I'd have a play with it but it seems to have the same problems as before. It'd be good if Traktor could just read .asd files from Ableton then it's literally a case of job done if ya get me!!

  • @coolshit28 If you play dance music (edm) or anything with a consistent beat it is easy to do. I know how you feel tho, it takes some time getting use to and if you have to add new grid start pionts through out the track it becomes a hassle. If NI did a warp type feature like in ableton it would be that much better. Grids kinda suck if you are used to warping but it takes less then a min to grid a track for me (unless they aren't consistent)..

  • @coolshit28 The "beat warping" aka Beatgridding is actually easier and faster in Traktor Pro since you only need 1 grid marker per track, and you simply just shift the grid left and right until the tick matches the track. Takes me about 3 seconds a song. Check out my Beatgridding in Traktor Pro video on the Dubspot Blog to see how I do it. I actually just started offering a service beatgridding tracks as well, so get at me if you're interested!

  • @gabedavid This is not true. You can run traktor pro and Traktor S4 side by side. There is a seperate collection (folder) for both programs so you don't have to worry about one program affecting the other. When you open controller editor, the device menu switches to generic keyboard. This doesn't mean the S4 isn't there. You just click on the device menu to select it. If you need additional tech support you can call native instruments tech support at 3234672693

  • the usb cable you are using seems really good quality! can you please share some information about it?

    tnks

  • @naysiploos Got it on Ebay! I love my Glow in the dark USB cables :-)

  • @deejayendo what's your current/dream setup?

  • @notoriousosh My Current setup is the Traktor Kontrol S4 with Maschine. I'm using my Maschine MIDI Mapping for Traktor Pro (see the Maschine w/ Traktor videos on the Dubspot youtube channel), and using my Traktor Kontrol S4 as a Mixer.

  • @DeeJayEndo Clearly you have a very intuitive and integrated digital setup. i was wondering, however, if you feel that you're missing out by not having a DVS or the 4 band EQ and high-quality filters of the Xone:92. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

  • @notoriousosh You can choose which software mixer you want to use in the preferences - Mixer. You can choose between "Classic" which is the classic Traktor mixer, "P600" which is the Pioneer DJM 600, and the "NUO" which is the Ecler NuO4 mixer. If you test the software mixer with the hardware mixer back to back you will be happily surprised with how well they emulated the sound and EQ cut & boost levels. Traktor Pro actually has the 4 band Xone 92 mixer built in to the software mixer.

  • Dude, the filter on channel B was giving me problems at first last night, it kept going on but then worked good. I think it was calibration only.. and yes I want that green usb as well :)

  • Super !!! Loved the tutorial.

  • Super Explaining Thank You

  • @SPEEDYDUSTREAM - Have you tried recalibrating your jog wheels? When I got my S4 in the mail one of the jog wheels was loose and didn't work properly I had to re-click it into the grooves (pushing down and to the left), and then recalibrated it, now it works like a charm. I personally prefer the little jog wheels over CDJ's because it requires less effort to scroll through your tracks. Also I think they have a very professional feel to them. Its crazy what I've seen scratch DJ's do with the S4!

  • @DeeJayEndo Where'd you get that green glowing USB cord... been looking allover for it

  • Although I breath, eat, dream, speak and think Native Instruments when it comes to their software and hardware, I'm not impressed by the "feel" of the S4 jog wheels. And when you compare it to the CD-J's, I seriously question your "expertise". Product specialist or not, be fair in your review no matter if your associated with the company that makes the item in question. As for the rest of the S4, I wouldnt wanna miss mine for the world. It's the best Controller out there, No quiestions asked

  • Track ID @ 2.55 - Butch - No Worries

  • get the next 2 vids up. amazing job! cant wait till mine come in!!!

  • part 2/3 and 3/3 are not yet available?

  • i want this sooo bad/;

  • can anyone explain sound cards to me? 96khz is extremely low quality (in mp3 format) and i don't understand it :/

  • @OnCall101Villa You're thinking of 96 kbits/sec, not 96k hertz. 96k hertz is high quality

  • @LucidDreamTricks i see, and what is the ultimate quality in a sound card; human frequency? (20hz i think)

  • @OnCall101Villa No, there are specs on various audio equipment that go higher (and lower, check out the studies about how uber-low unhearable freqs can be perceived as ghosts/entities - they use really powerful sub woofers to create them) - its somewhat pointless, but they do exist. The human hearing range is 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Anyways, you want at least 24 bit resolution / 96kHz sample rate, but there are higher qualities. Mp3's 96 kb/s is bit rate and not bit res. so don't get confused. ;D

  • @OnCall101Villa but don't let what I said confuse you, the quality of a soundcard, like its sample rate and bit resolution don't have anything to do with the range of the frequencies it can play/create .. this is actually measured by frequency response, but doesn't have as much to do with quality these days, because pretty much all audio equipment has a large freq. response range these days.

  • @BiggaBMusic dude, thank you so much.

  • I want the x1 more

  • Track ID at 02.55??

  • @leonardobai butch - no worries
