your going to be playing on your six string guitar that makes noise when you strum the guitar and your gonna want to plug it into an amp that way you can hear your guitar.
@Poenut Thanks! I bought the Les Paul in St. Louis in 2001, and I hate to admit it but I misplaced the original paperwork. The finish is "natural" but there was something else about it - I think the wood used for the top was some rare central american wood or something. I've been looking online for years but I can't find any page with a history of Gibson guitar finishes. I never even considered a natural finish guitar until I saw this one.
@ifutureman My mouth literally dropped open when I clicked on your video. I realized at one point I wasn't listening anymore to what you were saying and had to rewind a bit, lol. Thought I'd seen every LP finish, but...wow. Just...wow.
...I've still got my [deceased] Dad's Gibson LP Deluxe (Goldtop) with mini humbuckers that he'd gotten in 1969. It isn't playable though cause it needs work (strings are laying flat against the fretboard). It was his "pride and joy." I think he would love yours.
@Poenut by the way I figured out what my Les Paul is ... a "Raw Power" model which was made in 2000-2001. Not to be confused with the current "Raw Power" models, which are lower end. Since I made this video, I have replaced the bridge pickup with a P-94 and I love it.
@Lucario1211 Hey don't knock my MG15 :) I make no apology for my nonexistent production values. And I even admit at 9:59 that my video sounds like crap... actually I find my setup kind of amusing too. Cheers!
Great video! This made the song very easy to learn. I saw that Crapomatic would like for you to give a tutorial for Perfect Situation. I would love that too. It's one of my favorite songs and I've always wanted to learn to play it, but I could never figure out how to.
@TannerC777 Thank you. As far as Perfect Situation goes... I'm sorry but I don't feel like I can do a good lesson. To be honest, I don't think the song works without a piano, and anyway it would take me a long time to go through the entire guitar solo. In hindsight, I probably should not have asked for requests, although my intentions were good. I have been working on a Pork And Beans lesson, but I'm still not sure. There's just too much crap on Youtube, I don't want to add to it.
this video is VERY helpful. I can rarely learn songs from most instructional videos. the only one thing I would say is missing would be how about playing the entire song through...you know that way it kind of puts it all together....
@zorahna thank you. I thought a lot about whether to play the whole song through but I kinda figured that since the video was already almost 13 minutes long, I would save some time. I see your point, but I am confident that with my tutorial and the available live Weezer videos out thee on YouTube, you should be able to put this one together... if you are really stumped still, send me a message and I'll see what I can do. :)
@ifutureman Thx for asking! Would love "Perfect Situation" and/or "Beverly Hills" as I'm trying to learn songs that are fun for friends to join in and sing along.!!
@zorahna Thank you! That extra bass note is a very subtle element but it really makes those chords sound heavier, huh? That's the magic of Weezer - a tiny detail turns something basic into something special.
Really great video! I just started learning to play guitar, but Weezer is sort of my inspiration to continue with it. Good tutorial :D I'll revisit this when I'm not a beginner anymore.
@JoshDouble Thank you! If there's a Weezer song you'd like to learn and there is no online tutorial for it, I can probably throw one together, so feel free to ask. "Undone" is probably the best song to start out with; there appear to be several dozen tutorials but I have no idea how good they all are. Unfortunately there are some very inaccurate videos out there spreading bad information!
