guys the door on 92-95 seiarra wont open have remeved panal and metal panel on inside seems the latch i frozen or stuck onlt thing i can think of is to sawzall the latch in detween the door to open it help
@drellim50 If you can't get the latch to release on the inside of the door, you may want to bring it to an auto body shop. They may know of a trick to get it to open for you without causing any further damage. Hope this helps you out.
i replace the actuator and the outside door handle. white greased rod clips and connections. everything worked great until today. temp down to 25 outside and door lock sluggish to open/close. key worked but took some force. this was my problem that led to me replacing actuator.
This video was a big help. a BIG help. changed actuator and exterior door handle today. took me several hours but after watching your videos several times before hand i had a general idea of what to do. Thanks!
maybe im missing something but I cant find the video on how to remove the inner door panel (metal portion) to replace the exterior drivers door handle.
@ElitePhotoPHX HI in this window regulator video we show you how to remove the inner door panel. There are 9 or 10 7 MM screws that you need to remove. Hope this helps. youtube.com/watch?v=x1RT5FFnMk8&feature=relmfu
I have a question, are these door handles common to break on these trucks? I have a 96 gmc sierra and my drivers side handle makes a clicking noise when pulling the handle all the way up when opening the door. Is this a sign that my handle is on its way out? It still functions properly and locks, but makes a clicking noise that you can feel when opening the handle all the way up. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
@350AmericanMuscle It could be making a little noise due to things drying out.You could try to put a little white lithium grease on the handle inside of the door where the rods connect to it. That might help a little.
@1aauto I'll try the lithium grease and see if it makes a difference. What would i have to look out for when a door handle does in fact break, like are there any warning signs before it just breaks?
@350AmericanMuscle Not to my knowledge. They just tend to go. We carry new ones on our website 1aauto.com if you end up needing a new one. Regards, 1aauto.com
your videos are very well done. my question is that I have a 97 sierra and I cant unlock my driver door with a key. It just freely turns but I can lock and unlock with the power locks. I seen a clip in this video that I wonder if it could have broke?
@johnson3369 It sounds as though the tumbler may have broke, or you may want to take the door panel off to see if anything connecting to the door lock has come loose.
@waterstreetpc They way that the rods line up with the latch may be different. It's not something that we've tried here. Not 100% sure if this would work for you.
The tricky part for me was getting the rod attached to the handle while getting the clip to behave. It took a couple of tries to get it right. I could not have done it without watching all three videos.
This is a GREAT video! I did mess up on one thing though. I accidentally closed the lock part that latches on to the door post. Now I can't figure out how to "unlock" the mechanism. If this makes sense .. can anyone tell me how to get it unlocked? I have a 1990 Silverado.
Friggin' awesome vid! I was out there in the rain for about 3 hours struggling to figure out how to connect the door handle and lock rods and still have enough space left to get them back in the door...better luck banging my head off a wall until I watched this.
i have a 98 GM sierra and the drivers door lock will not work with the power lock and the key wont turn in the lock i can lock it by pushing really hard on the knob but its a pain to pull back up what do you think would be the problem the lock motor or the lock seized up

Can I use a passenger outer door handle to replace a front outer door handle. The only key access i want is the rear barn door.
